This library boasts a large collection of materials, as well as many useful community resources. The librarians are always courteous and helpful. I have seen them answer all sorts of questions without missing a beat, and they seem genuinely dedicated to helping others. There always seems to be some kind of activity going on during the week, and they especially have many activities for kids - concerts, magicians, movie nights, etc. They have multiple self-checkouts, so you never have to wait long (usually not at all!) to check out your items. It has a Keurig, sells snacks, and usually has a puzzle or coloring pages out to enjoy. It also has conference rooms that you can reserve if you want some more privacy while working or want to have a meeting there. As much as I love this library, there are some downfalls. First, the parking situation is kind of a mess - there simply isn't enough of it for how busy the library is. Secondly, because it usually is busy, it can be hard to find an open table at times and enjoy a quiet atmosphere. Because it has an open layout, you can often hear children screaming/crying if you are upstairs in the "adult" section. If you think about it, these "downfalls" only prove how popular this place is. What a lovely newly build library…read more There are three floors. The bottom floor is mainly for the kids. There are cute nooks to read in, a big play area, a crafting room, and a large variety of children books. I loved seeing the small enclosures near the computer for those with small babies that need to have a space for the baby while the parent uses the computer. The main and upper level are full of books, media, local art work displays, and conference/tech/study rooms. The one person bathrooms are super large, have hooks for bags, and are gender neutral. The library also offers a water bottle refill stations on each level too. There is a snack machine on the main level.

The campus put off a warm, welcoming vibe even on a day when students were gone for their winter break. Our son was very impressed by the facilities and the variety of course offerings and other opportunities and seems very excited to enroll!

Even the best of the great research universities (except the University of Chicago) have distracting party scenes that just aren't as big a temptation at places like this. Anyway, also like other liberal arts colleges, this one is picturesque with a healthy schedule of cultural events. Strong programs in music and arts, humanities result in lots of very good very affordable (often free) concerts and exhibits. The campus is lovely, though being a professor I prefer it during semester breaks when it's not covered in college students. Great college library. Appleton is an economically depressed de-industrialized town with an island of high culture that is this college (yes technically a university, but it's more of a liberal arts college). A unique boutique hotel in an historic restored building and a couple of good restaurants all in walking distance makes this a fun affordable two day destination.
