For the same price, we were able to book this great cottage right on Sanibel within walking distance of the beach. The cottage was nicely furnished with beds enough for everyone and two bathrooms, which was a godsend. The beach was fantastic... even nicer than most of the other great beaches on Sanibel. We had a great time filling our days with activities and relaxing in the cottage at night. We'll definitely be back and I would highly recommend Tropical Winds!

I also ate at the Blue Dog which had great seafood. There were a couple other restaurants I will try on my next visit. The town had many places to fish such as the bridges and a couple parks. Fishing there was great. People were catching reds, snook, and snapper. The resort had kayaks, furnished grills, had a campfire pit, swimming pool and a homemade sand beach. It had docks to fish from or for people bringing their own boat. The management can set you up with dolphin tours or charter fishing. It is near Ft. Myers Beach, Bonita Beach, and Sanibel/Captiva Islands and not far from Punta Gorda Airport (my choice) or Ft Myers International Airport. My stay was only 3 days, but I will return and stay much longer next time.

Everything looks modern and updated probably because it had to be redone after the hurricane. I loved the firm mattress, the large fridge and enormous flat screen roku tv. I liked they provided popcorn which I popped in the microwave. The shower got super hot very quick so no lack of hot water. Shampoo conditioner and body wash is provided as well as a sample of body lotion. There is a coffee maker which I personally didn't use. Really liked the little gazebo to sit out. Parking was available right outside my door which was convenient. It's still slow season so it was quiet. I did not use the amenities so cannot review on that. The little minor things were: I could hear the upstairs when they'd drop stuff. You can also hear every single word of the unit next door so I went to bed and got up with those people based on noise. The bathroom would sometimes make loud bubble noises probably related to plumbing issues. The place was not fully clean, it looked like there was construction type dirt in the bathroom. Also there were some ants but it's Florida so might be normal. And the outdoor light didn't work so it was very dark walking my dog. The AC is a wall unit and very loud, the lowest allowed is 70 degrees - I wish it was less because I was hot. Great place but there's some improvements possible here and there. I'd stay here again if needed! $125 for the night was a decent price especially for the location and amenities they offer. I'm sure it's more during season, I stayed end of September on a weekday.

I spoke with Sarah, the Office Manager, she told me we could use any part of their beach to get married and anything else for the wedding. After the great customer service and friendly phone conversation we decided to book. She found us a condo close to the beach front and it was very reasonably priced for the length of stay. We also received a good discount for booking 5 rooms for family. Once we arrived, we were very impressed (so were our families) on how big the condos were. We had beautiful flowers and towel origami waiting for our arrival. It was a very nice touch. We found a great place on the beach to marry, along with several other beautiful locations to take photographs. Everything turned out perfectly! The beach was beautiful. When checking out, Sarah gave us a nice little commemorative cooler. I would recommend this place to everyone! The family is already talking about taking a repeat trip to these condos.

The one big negative is that the beach is not located near the inn, but rather across the street. Not only that but there is no beach access from the pool. When we asked, we were told the stairs got washed away with the hurricane? ( weird that they have not replaced them) so we were told to just JUMP off the sea wall to get to the ocean. The suggested we use the little side table to get back up to the pool area. You can hear people in the hall in the mornings and kids running down the hall ( if you plan on getting some morning rest this may not be the place for you) The golf course was gorgeous and probably our favorite part of our trip! We also had breakfast at the main in. Dining room - food was yummy but the staff were unfriendly and not attentive at all. Not one person passed by and asked how our food was or if we needed anything. - it was not busy at all- I thought the service would be much better.

There was visible mold in our hotel room, and it made both me and my husband extremely sick…read more Despite notifying the staff immediately, they waited three days to move us to a different room. By then, our symptoms had worsened significantly--I developed severe allergy-like reactions, and my husband's eyes became extremely red and irritated. When I spoke with the manager, Brett Sherman, he outright denied the presence of mold, offered no apology, and even laughed at me. My husband, who works in high-end real estate in Los Angeles, sent a photo of the air vents to a mold inspector he's worked with for over 20 years. The inspector said the growth strongly resembles Aspergillus, though of course, proper testing is required to confirm that. Regardless, it was completely unprofessional for the staff to dismiss our health concerns, deny the visible issue without proper evaluation, and refuse to acknowledge the inconvenience and harm caused. We weren't even offered an apology for the delay in moving rooms or the resulting illness. Attached are photos of the vents and my husband's eyes for reference.

I was assured by the manager (Monica) that it was. Unfortunately, for our 7 day trip, it was only working for 1 of the 7 days. All other days, it was frigid water, around 68-72 degrees, which made it completely un-swimmable. I spoke to other residents that were near the pool deck and all of them agreed that this was extremely cold and not tolerable. After calling to report this to the manager, she became extremely rude and snippy with me, even asking me, "Well, what did you come to Florida for... the pool or the beach? Did you really think your price for the resort includes a heated pool?" I couldn't believe how rude she was. Ok, let's talk about the resort itself... the check in process was quite frustrating as the manager was all over the place and kept giving me wrong information and didn't let me know how to access the pool gate, elevator, etc... When I went to check in, the room reeked of bleach as if the cleaning staff had doused it in the stuff. It took hours for the smell to dissipate. The rooms are very old and tiny/cramped. The shower frames are coming off the hinges and the master shower water doesn't even permit a hot temperature. The bathrooms are so small and tight that you can hardly fit in there. The room smelled musty as well. The master bed was like an old beat up cushion. It killed my back! The elevator to get up to the room (we were on the 3rd flood) was very old and rickety and took forever to go anywhere... if you tried to take the states, you would risk your health as they were extremely slippery and you had to nearly tip-tow down. When I called after our trip to report these frustrations, the manager continued to be very sarcastic and rude to me and then hung up. Having vacationed down in Ft. Myers Beach for 20 years, I know lots of places and I would never stay here again. Overpriced, doesn't deliver on promised amenities and is very old. Save your money and vacation and stay somewhere else!

And in 1982, my grandfather inexplicably bought a week at The Caribe for my parents and me. I don't know where he found the money but it's been a fantastic 41 years of memories at The Caribe; and, I can never thank him enough for that. The place was meticulously maintained by Bob and Jerry and Dawn. I will miss seeing them in the future re-build
