We came here through a cruise from Captiva Island…read more The Collier House is very cool in it's architecture and history, however a few facts: 1. Service was VERY SLOW - it took almost all of our limited time on the island for our meal. 2. Bartender made THE WORST cocktails. All of us had to send our cocktails back. Stick to beer or wine. 3. Price of meals is EXPENSIVE. A very basic fish sandwich for $28? C'mon. 4. Forgotten items - One member of our party's meal was given to another guest (not in our party), forgotten, then when asked about the status, had it re-made but not to what was ordered. Should have been adjusted on our check but was not. Even after voicing our dis-satisfaction. 5. Food was not cooked properly. And came out cold. 6. Automatic gratuity is added to all checks, as an FYI. We won't be returning.

I would say the average lunch meal would run you around $15.00 and for what we received it was worth the price. I had the fish sandwich with out the bread and I am glad I choose to not have the bread. The portion was large and the fish was fresh. I had a cocktail and that boosted my check another $10.00 My neighbors daughter in law went with me and she had some seafood dish as well though I cant remeber what it was. She had a piña colada and was not impressed with her drink. Our food bill for lunch including a total of 2 drinks, tip and tax was $63.56 Well worth a boat trip to enjoy a meal and the views. The staff was pleasant although they were a bit disorganized. We were seated first and waited on after 3 other tables were taken care of. It took quite a while for our cocktails to come out of the bar area.

Not a lot of reviews here on Yelp, but plenty elsewhere on this very cute property. This inn only…read morehas about 5 units in total, so it's a very small place. It's old too, but it's clean and maintained and cute! Can you tell it's old by the uneven floors and several layers of paint on the walls?--yes. While this isn't a luxury place, it's rather enjoyable. We stayed in the room called Little Snookie. That room is located on the left just as you enter the main front door. Check-in was completely contact-free. The owner/manager text us prior to check in with the codes to get inside. We had everything we needed for our short one-night stay, so I don't know how good or fast service would be if you needed something. I would suggest that if you're high-maintenance to not stay here...nor the island in general as this is a laid-back place! Anyways, I would love to stay here again especially if I could book one of the other rooms that are on the backside with views of the water. When we arrived, we checked out the back deck area and it was really nice. We saw a couple enjoying wine right outside their room door. It was really relaxing. We came back out to sit and watch the stars at night. Parking and/or leaving can be tricky. It's right off a fairly busy road, but especially if you have a normal-sized car, you can pull off the road like you're parallel parking, and then back into your spot. This makes it easier to leave. And once there, you don't have to leave for things like dinner and drinks. It's walkable to restaurants and ice cream. We walked just a little down the road for dinner outside at a restaurant (also on the water) playing live music. Book this place for the perfect romantic get-away!

This little motel (it seems like there's less than a half dozen rooms) had everything I wanted:…read morewaterside accommodations, kitchenette, outdoor area with lounge chairs and a sunrise view, and wifi. It doesn't hurt that the place is painted turquoise and purple, either. The location is perfect, waking distance from galleries, shops, and restaurants. The folks who run it are very friendly and accommodating, allowing for a late check out, and even set up a shady umbrella for me so I could hang around in a lounge chair reading (and yelping) after I had vacated the room. I'm not into fishing or kayaking, but if you are, you can do that right from their pier. They've also got a shaded area with a grill and table outside for cooking up and enjoying your catch. There are some downsides, which could be a deal breaker depending on your personality, but they were things I could live with: I love when there's no carpet, it's easy to clean, so please mop it. I don't like getting into bed with dirty feet. (This seems to be a problem at all carpetless accommodations) There was a lot of noise from what sounded like construction next door. Don't know of this is ongoing. Ladies, if you take offense when men you don't know are a bit too casual/familiar, you may find the older gentlemen proprietor off-putting. Totally non-threatening though. Despite those negatives... I'd stay here again in a minute. I even looked at the map to see if my route north from Boca next week could accommodate a stop here. Regretfully, it doesn't but if I return to this area, this will be my first choice of accommodations.

Came in rather late and stayed for several nights. There is a new owner that was quite accommodating to my requests -- one of which was arriving at 11pm at night. A great view of the water and a large, green yard for my dogs to play in. During the day, you can walk around the shops of Matlacha. The area has that authentic old Florida feel, but it may be slipping away as more affluent people move into the area. I would definitely return when I am in the area.
