I had a great experience. The staff was friendly and the process was fast and simple. Did not wait for more than 15 minutes.

Went earlier than scheduled for our fingerprints to be taken and we chanced upon the nicest security guard ever.

Here I go again. Yes, this is another review regarding an experience with the criminal justice…read moresystem. This time it wasn't me, however I'm a total dork when it comes to TV court shows (i.e. Judge Judy) and I'm always up for a few hours of witnessing the real thing. At first I wasn't very enthusiastic about the outcome of my friend's case. He was scheduled to appear at 10:30 and I got there early. I realized there wasn't any point to that because the doors are bolted until a few minutes before court starts. There are 3 courtrooms and they only use one a time, so the 10:30 folks wait in line at the metal detector and then shuffle down to courtroom #3. The 12:00 noon folks go to #2, and so on... It took at least 20 minutes to make it into the courtroom and to inform the clerk of my friend's intentions. You have a few options: plead guilty, plead nolo, plead not guilty and get scheduled to come back, or speak to the prosecutor and try to negotiate something. Here's where I started to appreciate the court... a lot. Normally, this type of access to the legal system is only afford to people who shell out enough money to pay an attorney. In Doraville they let everyone, not just the privileged, negotiate their fate. The prosecutor was really fair. I mean, really. I listened to hear deal with several other people before it was time for my friend and she gave everyone the benefit of the doubt. I won't lie - it was funny to see them squirm when they would get caught telling a fib or trying to convince her of something that didn't make sense. In the end his charge was reduced (not thrown out completely, I might add) and ultimately justice was served for both parties.

I'm generally a fan of all things library. This is a good location to stop off, grab some wifi,…read morewrite a few emails, and get on with your day. I do notice that it's not exactly the quietest library in the world. I've seen people come out of the meeting room on the phone, and then stand in the actual library to spare the meeting room the noise from their call. Some street folks seem to to ubiquitously occupy space at the computer terminals. I've never seen an empty terminal there. That being said, there is still wifi, and I've never really had a problem getting to an outlet if I need one. And the staff have been really helpful to me. It's clear families come here and there is an ongoing community outreach thing that touches a lot of people.

Using your public library is a great way to save money. Before you order a book, movie or cd…read moreonline, check to see if it's at the library. Doraville Library is small, but it's part of the Dekalb Library system, so if the book you want isn't here, you can have it transferred here from another branch- or you can go to the other branch, your D-vile Library card is good at any Dekalb Library. They have a lot of DVDs too, so skip Redbox and Netflix and utilize the public service you support with your taxes. I don't think this location is ideal for studying or working. It's very small, so it's like sitting in a living room with a bunch of people. A lot of homeless people patronize American libraries; it's a free, climate controlled place to be that won't get mad at you for loitering. The two closest libraries to this one are more comfortable for study and work- Chamblee and Embry Hills. You can find semi- private nooks and niches to settle in to at those. Decatur is the biggest branch in the Dekalb County library system. It's nice, but had a weak wifi connection last time I checked. Lots of events at these libraries- check the flyers and the website.

Code enforcement has tried to make us move our company vehicles from our own parking lot. Notices have been sent to wrong businesses. We have been working for over 1 year to get a business license for another business and this handled by a company in California. After over 25 attempts, they cash the check but continue to come back for more information that was already provided. They tell you one thing and a month later tell you just the opposite. The past three City Managers, do not followup when the promise to do so. After multiple visits to a grand City Hall where there are few workers, it is clear the staff is completely incompetent. They have all been nice but do not communicate and are harrassing business owners. It this from the top down?

Especially the Chinatown Food Court which is full of gems like a Chongqing and Tsingtao. It was built as a "new Chinatown", where the area is constructed before the Asians move in, as opposed to the older, natural Chinatowns which sprung up in a more organic way (to quite hipsters). Whenever I'm in town I head straight over here for some of the deliciousness they have on offer. It's a chame that most ATL Yelpers don't know about these places.
