[This review is for the records department] I usually despise going to any government agency because the bureaucracy can be exhausting, and a visit could easily turn into an all-day affair. Chamblee Police Dept Record Division changed my mind on this matter. I needed to go in to get a new bartending permit. Setting an appointment (phone call only) was relatively easy and they were very clear about what I needed to apply, as well as the cost. I arrived the next day to a clean and easily navigable facility. I believe this location is only a few years old, but the grounds are manicured and clearly maintained. There's even an attached park, outdoor workout area and a small track that is open to the public. The permit application was super easy. Staff were friendly. All necessary components for my application were highlighted and the paperwork was easy to get through. I'd say this process took me 20 minutes, tops. Next steps post-application were printed out and easy to follow. I was very pleased. My only point of frustration is that the city website is hard to navigate and outdated with prices/procedures that are not accurate to date. But honestly it really didn't interfere with much. read more

LT Antinozzi eventually reached out regarding my case. Unfortunately, he deems that lying and deceiving the government on official government forms is not a worthwhile case to be pursued. Apparently in Dekalb Co. and Chamblee, law means very little. During the conversation, LT Antinozzi said he reviewed the documents and noted that there was no case. When asked again, and reiterated that documents showing proof of the false official statement made was included, he then noted he did not see that documentation. Then proceeded to babble on how the supporting documentation was not notarized thus insufficient (contradicting his previous statement of not seeing the documentation). Not sure how public records are not official, so heads up, "notarize" any records received from a government agency... Chamblee PD cannot be bothered. Also, if you ever receive a ticket from an Officer, notify them that unless the officer has it notarized... it is not official and cannot be held against you... according to LT Antinozzi. read more

Officer Delshay Bell and Dustin Bulcher need additional training on handling a minor child. One of the officers is also now having their wife intentionally make bad reviews on me at my workplace. Not to mention the same officer moved to my apartment community VERY shortly after pulling me over. Then Illegally detaining my child at her place of residence and having false reviews put out about me is very retaliatory and will not be ignored. Do better. read more

I work out sometimes at this outdoor gym they have . It's a great set up. A couple times officers have ventured over to say hi and even one time an officer did a workout in full gear. All very nice people . Love to see it . read more

Someone tried scamming me in buying fake gold (legal tender Indian head gold pre-33) infront of their building with cameras and I have proof needed (license plate, phone number etc) and they didn't care (I have a machine tester). They talked to me like a clown and someone just trying to waste their time. Acted as if I was the scammer. Rude and questioned me like some idiot. Quote "why would you meet here at Chamblee to make a deal when you live in Lawrenceville". I stated, To meet this individual halfway from where he lives. He stated "i don't understand, I don't understand, I don't understand!"... they also stated "stores can sell plated gold and lie that it is real solid gold". Basically they are saying fraud is legal....two absolutely rude black males who don't care about the people and aren't educated!...6/5/2024. They didn't care to listen to my incident or take note of anything..In short, if you were scammed they wouldn't care unless you were pretty... NOT they wouldn't care regardless. Good luck filing a report here for scam or theft if it's a civil matter...Please educate these front desk officers on duty at this particular date on proper manners and controlling their attitude/tone. When my new manager offered to email me directions to the Chamblee PD, I told her that I already know how to get there since I was there earlier this week. Overshare much? Fingerprinting is available Monday through Friday from 1:00-3:00. The cost is $10 for the first card, and $5 for each additional card. THEY ARE CASH ONLY. Pick up a number (Hey, it's kinda like you're at the bakery!) and make friends with your neighbors while you wait. I got there at 1:30 and my number was called just after 2:00. The process only takes five minutes, and the place was empty when I left. It seemed to me that most people get there within the first hour, so it might be worth it to arrive in the 2:00 hour. We recently received new desk phones in our office and received a warning letter from the phone company with "911 Limitations." I wanted to test 911 and read in multiple resources you should NOT call 911 just to make a test, you should call ahead and schedule a test. I called this police station as it is 4 miles away from our office and spoke to a representative in the communications department. This representative was rude and unhelpful. She informed me we were not in this police station's jurisdiction but would only throw out guesses as to what station's jurisdiction we were in. She didn't provide any phone numbers with her guesses and when I continued to ask questions she got agitated and suggested I "just call 911" to find out our jurisdiction. I explained if 911 didn't work I would need a number to call and discuss my concerns with but she didn't provide any further information. I ended up just telling her I would continue to do more research online and call around myself. 911 safety should be taken seriously instead of dismissed like an inconvenience. I come up to the window to ask for my directions for fingerprints but was greeted by Lela Hayes presence and eye contact with no greetings as if we were supposed to have an eye contest of some sort so I spoke up first. Not knowing if that was a mic that was supposed to be on. From thereon forward my short visit she was rude, I felt like I was a burden or a problem when I asked for help or direction, I felt disrespected, felt like I was an inconvenience to her, I left mistreated, as if she expected that I knew the procedure for fingerprinting being my first time there. Her attitude changed from a 0-100 when it came to anybody else. Overall I had a negative vibe from her only when it came to me compared to how she attended to everyone else. I went to the Chamblee Police Station for a police ride-along. The process began with an email. I emailed the Police Department and my inquiry about ride-alongs was forwarded to the Assistant. Chief. He responded back to me via email pretty promptly and provided me with the forms that I needed to get the ball rolling. The first set of forms is to authorize a background check. The next set consists of release and permission waivers. Once the paperwork clears, the department then contacts you via email to schedule your ride time. Once your requested time is approved you report to the police department at the approved time. The typical ride-along lasts for 4 hours. When I reported to the designated check-in area on my scheduled date and time, I was asked to be seated until the Supervisor on duty came out with my assigned ride-along officer and further instruction. In about 2 minutes (or less) I was greeted by 3 officers; one of which was the officer that I was assigned to ride with, Officer Hidalgo. Before leaving the station, one of the three officers, Lieutenant Waasdorp, briefly went over some basic safety rules and instructions and then Officer Hidalgo and I were off. I rode with Officer Hidalgo as he responded to a couple of calls until he was called back to the station to be reassigned to another incident that required his assistance. I was then assigned to Officer Quarless. Both Officers Hidalgo & Quarless were GREAT! They did an excellent job explaining the process to me (what the radio call codes mean, what the incident reports entail, some of the procedures followed for specific types of calls) as I observed the way that they responded to the various situations that came up. They also were very thorough in answering questions that I had as I observed, and about things in general as a community resident. I really enjoyed this experience. I've always had a great appreciation for what the police do day-to-day to keep our communities safe that we as citizens sometimes take for granted. After this experience, I have an even greater understanding and appreciation of what a 'day in the life' of a cop in the field actually looks like. In today's climate of strained police and community relations due to a seemingly overwhelming amount of reports of police brutality, unjustified shootings, etc., it was refreshing to see firsthand that there are still good cops out there who truly just want to protect and serve in hopes that their efforts make a difference in the community. More importantly, (at least based on my interactions with the police in general and with MY local police department) I feel confident that these 'good' cops out-number the 'bad' ones. All in all, I appreciate that the department made my ride-along request a relatively simple and swift process to complete, and my experience an overall enjoyable and informative one. Recently, My sister was arrested in chamblee while on vacation with her 12 year old son, my nephew, who was only 12 years old. My mom received a phone call informing us of the situation and that if we did not come to pick him up he would be forced to call defax and my nephew would be put into foster care or temporary custody. Because it took us four hours to get there,my nephew had to sit and wait for us at the line station. The officer that called us was very polite. I wish I had asked his name. I found out later that one of the officers was kind enough to buy my nephew dinner from McDonald's that night. That was not required of him so it was very much appreciated. My nephew was anxious to tell how friendly they all were with him. This would have been a scary, and Possibly even traumatic experience for him otherwise. i'm just very thankful for their kindness and willingness to help with any information that they could give us on what to do and how to handle the situation. This has not been the case at times during my past experiences with law enforcement in the past. An officers attitudes can really make a huge impression on people, especially youngsters, so I just want to say, "thank you!" read more
