I've gone back since then for some hitch work and so far I believe I've found my go to source on all things RV.

I…read morecontacted Shaw RV for an appointment to inspect my class B Winnebago Rialta before completing the motorhome sale. I called Shaw RV on March 20, 2024, to schedule an appointment to have them check out the RV. They let me know they were busy that week, and Tuesday, March 26, 2024, would be the first available appointment they would have to do their review. I had an appointment to bring the RV to be serviced on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 8:00 am. Nobody was there until 8:15 am, when Shane arrived that only then that they would have the RV inspected no later than Friday, March 29. That was not conveyed when I set up the appointment, and I was under the understanding it would be checked out while I waited, which was my mistake for thinking it could be done while I waited. Shane took all my information again, and I told him I would return before 5 pm to leave the RV, and he would do his best to get everything done before Friday or, at the latest, by Friday. After calling on Thursday, March 28, to check the progress, I had to leave a message for someone to call me back on their voicemail. I was waiting for someone to return my call. I called again on Friday, March 30, left a message, and again, I was waiting for a return call. I called again on Monday, April 1, and spoke with Paul. He gave me a rundown of how long the diagnostics for each item would take, varying from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the issue. I asked what this would cost, but I received no answer other than that they would go over everything with me once everything was inspected. Since I had yet to hear back from anyone by 3:07 pm on Tuesday, April 2, I left another voicemail message to call me with an update. Again, no one returned my call by noon on Wednesday, April 3, so I drove to the Service Department and met a gentleman named Alan, who worked part-time there. He was unaware of the status but did find the paperwork on what was being done, although he could not update me on when all inspections would be completed or pricing; other than that, some parts needed to be ordered. Alan said he would call me by the end of the day on Wednesday, April 3, to give me an update. Since I have not received a call, I called at 4:38 pm on Wednesday since the shop closes at 5 pm in hopes of getting an update. Again, no one answered my call, and I had to leave another message for someone to call me back. I'll add updates, but I am very frustrated at this point. My potential buyer has been patient, but I must find out how long that will last. I intend to sell this RV with any known repairs that may be needed before completing the sale so I can convey the condition and perform repairs or provide credit to let the new owners complete any work.

They declined any involvement and said the repair was on me. No one else was in there, nor had access to the unit for 5 weeks. For clarity, I am retired Navy with core values of honesty and integrity. I do not trust South Raleigh Blue Compass, nor should you.

I had bought a travel trailer from them in 2021, when it was still "Bill Plemmons RV". No real…read morecomplaints about them while under that name, but under the new management, their guiding principle seems to be one word: Greed I took my travel trailer back to them recently for a roof leak and a couple of associated, minor wood replacements (bottom of cabinet in bathroom and under fridge needed a single board replaced). They repeatedly pushed a "pressure test" to detect any roof leaks, involving basically pressurizing the interior with a big fan, spraying soapy water on the roof and watching for bubbles. Pretty simple, right? This "test" costs $500, and that doesn't include any repairs. Their basic hourly rate for repairs is $189. The average RV tech gets paid around $30/hour, so guess who's making $159/hour? The greedy owners. No free estimates under the new ownership meant that just getting an estimate was going to be $189. In short, it quickly became apparent that this roof leak fix and fairly straightforward repair was going to cost several thousand dollars from them. I took it elsewhere and will never go back to Blue Compass.

Jim kept in contact via text, just to see if there was anything he could help us in our search. After a few months, Jim contacted me and i had a list of things we wanted in our new camper, and Jim responded with 3 units that fit the bill. Today we visited the dealer again and Jim showed us each unit and answered any questions we had, even made a couple of phone calls to make sure he was giving us the correct information. He allowed us time to look at the campers several times, from one to another, patiently waiting on us to make a decision. The way Jim treated us, we knew that he was the right salesperson and this was the right company. We purchased our new camper from Jim. It was pleasurable experience. Thank you Jim for all the time and knowledge that you shared. Jim did and outstanding job, I would recommend him to anyone who is interesting at looking and learning about campers.

I bought a 1 year old used RV from them. They said that they had done a complete inspection and…read moreservice on it, and it was like new. Turns out, the plumbing system had multiple leaks, almost every hose/electric attachment point was loose or broken off, and they had serviced the radiant heating system with the wrong kind of fluid, which totally ruined the system, causing corrosion and crystalization throughout the system. Instead of the $70/gallon Alde fluid required by the manufacturer for that year camper model, they had used $20/gallon fluid prohibited by manufacturer service bulletin. They tried to fix the plumbing leaks over and over again. The RV was in their shop for most of the first 6 months I owned it. They never found the source of the leak, and lied over and over again that it was fixed. The heating system: they said that it was all in my head and that it should be working fine because it was practically a new RV. However, I heard the service manager cussing "why can't I find just one f***ing competent RV tech?!" to himself one day when I dropped the RV off for the 5th or 6th time with the same plumbing leak. Just don't buy a used vehicle from them, and best to learn to do service and repairs on your RV yourself, as thousands of RV owners will attest. It is really hard to find a f***ing competent RV tech.

SIL inquired about camping vans. He said 'there's one in the ac and several Outside.' We looked at the van inside and then had to ask if we just go outside and look or what? He waved his hand toward the door and told us to go ahead and go look, still not getting up at all. Even if they had what we're looking for, we wouldn't do business here.
