This nail parlour had been advertising its opening for a few months now, and I was pleasantly surprised when I walked past and saw they were finally open for business. The dazzlingly white interior, as well as the shining lights and ..well, imaginative nail designs in the window mean you can't miss it! There seem to be about fifty styles of acrylic nails available, and I can't help but picture a Shaniqua or Rohandra walking around with those talons. I'm currently in possession of my first set of acrylic nails, and whilst this does make it a lot harder to type than before, I have to review this new nail salon so that more people can go. Although I've never gone for full-n acrylics before for fear of looking like a wannabe WAG, I've had my nails manicured enough to be able to tell a rubbish place from a good one. And USA Nailz definitely falls into the latter category. Their prices are really reasonable; I paid £25 for a full set (including all the pre-tratments and exfoliation etc) but the high quality of the finish isn't reflected in how little they charge. For example, they use Jessica nail polishes along with any upmarket salon in Edinburgh, and I was offered a tea or coffee several times during my hour-long treatment. And may I also just say that I've never had so much banter with anyone performing any sort of beautifying ritual on me before! Although my nail technician was very much a quiet type, my friend's couldn't have been more different. My friend and I were giggling so much that I felt sorry for my guy trying to concentrate on what he was doing as I was fidgeting around so much. They've only just opened, so I don't know if their low prices will hang around. But at the moment they're really good value for money: even if you don't want acrylics, to get your own nails varnished and manicured is only £21, and if you just want them painted nicely before a special occasion without any of the treatments it will ony cost you £3. First time here. I made an appointment for myself and a friend, and quickly learnt to not even bother with that, you'll still wait in line and they will not hold a spot for you. I found the speed in which they did my nails to be impressive. I usually get my nails done in old town with gel/ shellac/ hand painted design which takes about 90-105 minutes, however the difference in appearance between that and USA nailz is apparent. For £27, I had acrylics with 4 glitter nails. They look good from afar, however up close they are quite chunky and slightly uneven in shape. Good for a quick, generic fix (which is pretty much all I was after at the time) however don't expect quality, care and pride in the work. You may also end up waiting quite a while if they're busy and after 30 minutes friend just went to boots to purchase nail polish and did her nails at home. read more

I saw the menu outside of that phat place (which is so reminiscent of a classic , no frills nail salon in NYC) and was STUNNED to see that I could get my eyebrows and upperlip done for less than 10 pounds -- unreal ya?? I entered the salon just hit with the smell of acrylics (main complaint) and saw that there were quite a few women in queue -- def a popping place. I let one of the employees know i was there for threading and was told to wait for about 15 minutes. I was then called into a second room for my threadingbsession. The woman who did my upperlip (the first time there) and then my eyebrows and lip(second visit) is amazing! She makes sure to get the hairs (feels for them , employs great lighting) and is very quick and pretty painless in the process. I have been very happy with my visits so far and this has become my go to place. She finishes up with an aloe gel application and is super nice ! I have yet to try their mani/pedi options but from what I see, they do a good job and have special offera from time to time -- will have to try! read more

Been there twice now, will not go again. I don't mind rude service or people not speaking to me if they do the job well and I leave with a nice set of nails. The gentleman that did my nails was more interested in his phone than my nails as to which he slipped twice and made me bleed. Didn't say sorry or acknowledge that what he had done was wrong. I have had acrylic nails done for 10 years now and I do it mainly because it stops me from scratching my skin open (I have bad eczema) and so I like them very short. I asked him to make them shorter and he refused, he said he couldn't and now I have very long nails that I really do not want. He didn't even buffer them to make them shine, he put some sort of shining nail polish on it but there are lots of little hairs from the brush stuck on my nails. Also every time I've been in either myself or other girls have come in and hardly been acknowledged by staff because technicians were busy. I'm writing in order to make a complaint regarding the most terrible customer services I received in my life, which was in this nail salon. I made an appointment to make my nails at USA nailz, the appointment was on the 25/10/13. I was going to have my nails done for my wedding, which would be the next day. I arrived on time for the appointment but despite that I had to wait for 30 minutes. Then one of the nail professionals, a small girl with Chinese features and straight black hair, said she could not make my nails because the pedicure machine was broken. I explained that my nails could be done without the machine, because it was my wedding the next day, and I would accept a basic pedicure polish. The wedding day is the most important day in a woman's life and the nails play a big role on it, they must be beautiful. I trusted this beauty saloon professionals and chose them to make them beautiful for my big day. Then this girl asked something to other professional nail person, a young guy with Chinese features as well, called Daniel. He told me to wait because he was going to do my pedicure anyway, despite the broken machine. After 1 hour and 30 minutes waiting Daniel said he would not make my nails and if I was not happy, I could look for other beauty salon. The other customers that were present at the time got horrified with this attitude, as they knew it would be my wedding and they knew I was waiting for hours to get the pedicure done. They even tried to help me by speaking with Daniel, but Daniel refused to do the job. Even the girl who make eyebrow waxing/tinting, tried to persuade him, telling he should told me BEFORE that he wouldn't make my nails. We all told Daniel and the Chinese girl that they should told me in the beginning that my pedicure wouldn't be done, so I would have time to do my nails in other place. Also, I waited a total of 2 HOURS and no nails was done, so, a total waste of time. Despite that, the Chinese girl and Daniel said it was solely my problem and that for me to go to other salon. I left the salon in tears , crying, because of this horrible attitude and lack of consideration by its nail professionals. At that point, the other customers tried to help me by making appointments in other salons but any other place was shut, as it was night time. These nail technicians left a very bad impression, not only to me, but to the other customers present at that moment, and to the girl who makes the eyebrow tinting/waxing. definitely NOT recommended to anyone. Asking for a toenail trim, turned into cutting all possible toe nails off leaving me with non-shaped and miniature nails. Did not even bother staying for a polish as there was literally nothing to polish. One of the women working at the store attempted to fix the terrible job the man did, and she scoffed at my feet saying there was nothing she could do. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST BAD EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!! I've had my nails done here before and all times they usually have been good. They have a really nice finish and usually don't take that long for you to be seated and started. However this was not the case. I was in a rush anyway as I had plans later on that night. I arrived at a reasonable time expecting since it was a Tuesday not a lot of people to be in. There was about 4/5 people in the salon and like usual I waited my turn. I waited 3 hours for someone to see me and by that point the shop was filling up with people. Waiting 1 hours is bad enough with out getting a little loopy with the smell but 3!!! I got my nails done and really they were great but not worth the wait ! Not even a week later my nail snapped off when I grabbed a grabbed a chair but I didn't panic. I went back and got my nail put back on and all was good. The day after ANOTHER nail snapped off. TWO nails snapped off in under a week. Really I was annoyed at this point. I ended up taking my own nails off before going to another salon to get them redone. I don't know if it was just an off day or if they didn't use enough glue but for the price I paid for them just to come off (and might I add them snapping off is pretty painful) I wouldn't go back. My first set were fine but when they came off I was left with holes in my nails going down to the nail bed. I was so embarrassed about my nails being all scabby and holy plus I couldn't put any nail varnish on them because it was painful if I did. Main advice. Save your money and go else where! read more

Terrible experience here today. I got taken over to the nail desk and the girl started my nails , then the salon owner told me to go back to the seating area! Then when I finally got taken the lady who was filing my nails with the electric drill slipped and cut right through my finger so I now have a large open wound on my finger. Now I'm well aware accidents happen but the owner who was sitting there just barked at me that he would take over.... while the lady cleaned the cut and put a plaster on I sat and waited but the pain got to bad and the blood was coming through the plaster. I will never go back to USA Nailz in Edinburgh and I would advise others to stay away. They wrecked my sister's nails the day before her wedding! My sister has naturally long and beautiful nails, so she booked an appointment for a simple manicure to have them shaped and polished to look their best for the big day. She chose USA Nailz as they said they could do her nails and those of the three bridesmaids at the same time. When we arrived there were already three customers having their nails done and only two so-called nail technicians in the shop. When a space became available, we let the bride go first. Although she had told them clearly what she wanted when making the appointment, and again when she sat down in the chair, to our horror the technician began to grind down all her lovely nails. When we protested, he didn't seem to know what to do. His colleague came over and seemed to reprimand him for his horrendous mistake (not sure as it wasn't in English) but neither of them offered any sort of apology or seemed to know what to do to fix it. They way they treated my sister, who was clearly upset, was so rude and only made her feel worse. In the end, she burst into tears and we left the shop. Thankfully, a beauty salon round the corner was able to repair the worst of the damage - although it was too late for my sister to have what she had originally wanted for her wedding day. We bridesmaids ended up doing our own nails. It was such a horrible experience I thought I should write a review to warn others to avoid USA Nailz and its incompetent staff. read more

I was attended by a female staff who was quite pleasant and nice but then came the male staff and just became abrupt rude - paying no attention to what I was requesting and disregarded my 'pleases' and 'thank yous'! This isnt the first time ! I usually go to USA nailz to get my acrylics done but the last few times have been probably the worst! So a few months ago I got my nails done for a competition now I had gotten my nails done a few times before so I wasn't worried about them hurting or falling off. So I was very surprised that they ripped off the next day! The time after that they lasted about two weeks before they came loose and currently I have my New set. I got these done on Thursday 1st September and it's now the 5 of September and I've already have had one rip off and pull my entire nail off. Not only is it painful I've wasted my money on something that should last longer that a week !!! I'm absolutely furious at my nails and now looking at them they are squint and filled wrong ! I don't know if it's to do with new staff but it's pretty mediocre results. I'd rather pay £40-£100 for amazing results and ones that don't fall off or rip nails off. this place is total bull shit i made an appointment with them for 5pm for my daughter and her friend for a birthday treat. told them it will take me an hour and twenty mins to get to them. they said no worries they r open. we arrived half an hour early to doors closed and shutters down,even though it clearly states they close at 6pm and they knew i had booked this appiontment with them at 2.45pm today. so much for it being a good place. i would never go back. beware folks,it may be a bit cheaper than other places,but at least other places bloody well stay open for your custom. hell mend them if they keep this kind of service up. it will be closed up and sold off in no time as a buisness. the only reason they got one star was because i had to put one up or this site wouldnt let me save this message. truth be told they get no stars of me read more

The unprofessional attitude in this shop is on a scale unparalleled. This is quite obviously rot that has set in from the top. The owner seems more interested in having a smoke than looking after his customers. As a result his right hand man has the same attitude and not only leaves customers waiting while he has a smoke but considers it appropriate to have his phone ear piece in and conduct phone calls with friends whilst he is doing someones nails-hardly a focused piece of attention to your nails. The attitude is slap dash, take it or get out. As a result the owner has recently lost several members of staff who were, in fact, quite professional. He has now been left with amateur help and it takes forever to get your nails done. This is worsened by the fact there is no booking system. You walk in, ask how long for a slot and are told to sit down in the waiting section without answering your question. The owner is aware this irritates his customers and I personally have witnessed several explosions from them-he does nothing to prevent or remedy this. He simply sticks his head in the sand and has a "like it or lump it" attitude. I am sure I cannot be the only person to have received a parking ticket as a result of this. Furthermore, as the staff don't speak English I have seen people leave the salon with a set of nails they are unhappy with as they were unable to make themselves understood. I hope the young boy(former employee) with the spikey hairdo opens up elsewhere and they won't see my money again-EVER!!! I am sure he would take many, many customers away from this terrible, terrible business. Also ladies beware. Tools are used on one customer after another without any sterilizer or sanitizer being sprayed on them. I am left wondering how many fungal infections this shop is going to be responsible for. This place seems to have a wealth of bad reviews on line, and I can kind of understand why; there are no frills to their service, its very much an 'in and out' system and you are passed along from one technician to the other. The staff don't ask about your holidays/nights out and chat amongst themselves in Chinese...so what I say? Its the first time I've ever had my nails done so I guess I don't have anything to compare to, but I took in a picture of how I wanted my nails (acrylic almond shape with a nude shellac), and came out with exactly what I wanted. I love them (although tricky to type with!). The service was fast, friendly and very reasonably priced at £35 in total. The 2nd girl who spent most time on my nails was really sweet and constantly made sure I was happy with what she was doing. I was well looked after and offered drinks. I have no hesitation in going back for my in fills in two weeks time. I think I will be visiting them often to keep my toes and nails in ship shape on such reasonable prices. read more

I recieved my first set of nail extensions which were great the technician although very quiet when doing them but seemed to do a well enough job as I was having pink with white tips I paid £35.00 which I really didn't mind paying at the time. I went back 3weeks later to get the infilled the shop was very quiet when I went in so it was the same person that done them the first time round and even though he is quite quiet he did recognise me. the salon did busy up as I was there 4 more arrived tyo have there nails done which 3 of the had booked appointments. There was no way that they were going to get there appointment on time asI was just starting to get mine done and another customer was having hers done. My nails were trimmed infilled in less than 40 minutes to which they were all squint not reshaped properly and generally a rushed job to fit in the people that were waiting I felt for another £25.00 it was not worth going back for. They seem to be taking as many customers as possible and if busy crap service given. If quiet have longer to take in doing the job right. I most definately won't be going back as there is a nail shop opened up obviously quite recently on St Leonards Place that give a much better service much cleaner and friendly staff and It only cost £25.00 for a full set of pink and white infills are also cheaper, if your reading this BEWARE OF USA NAILs STAY AWAY read more
