I was going to be in Memphis over the Christmas holidays and sent an email. Received a response from Brooke the same day encouraging me to drop in. Wanted to ensure that I created the proper approach, so I asked about the cost to attend a few drop-in classes while in town. She provided information on Bot's Boxing which operates from the same building at Memphis Judo. Brooke was very welcoming and instead of payment, asked for a review of their facility, instructors and the environment. My child is 5, and has the option to come any 2 days a week that work for our schedule. Children learn self-discipline, respect, balance, and strength as they go through the skill levels from the very first day they recite to earn their white belt. Parents may stay and watch, or may leave and return to pick their children up at the end of a lesson. At a child's second lesson of the week, he or she will receive a sticker on their belt focusing on the skill of the week. Stickers are also given out for students who complete the once-monthly homework assignment. Cost for beginners is about $130 a month, either 2 or 3 days a week, uniform is usually included in the initial registration package. T-shirts, also acceptable for practice, may be purchased in the lobby area. Once or twice yearly, an inner-school tournament is held among all the USA karate locations throughout the city. Kids compete, but nobody walks away empty handed. My only gripe is the advertising. USA Karate really uses its' students to plug the karate classes to their friends, and even rewards the students who give out the most vouchers, entering them in drawings for a big prize.

It's a great price for several classes offered each week, plus you can attend classes at any of the 3 locations! I've attended the East and Bartlett locations, and both have been incredibly positive and motivating experiences. You are guaranteed to leave worn out but simultaneously energized! I used to say punching the bag was my favorite but overall it's the mindset behind pushing yourself past your 100% to reach new levels in physical and mental health! Get in here! Try it out!
