Though this is my go-to spot to get gas being it's so close to my house and all, I may be staying away for a while.
So I went to the gas station a little while ago to fill up my mother-in-law's gas tank. I had put my card into the slot on pump 3 and started pumping gas, but it stopped at $9.85. I know I'm not broke (yet), so I went inside to find out why the pump stopped. As it turned out, the clerk goofed. The guy on the other side of me at pump 4 had paid $16 cash inside the store, but the clerk applied it to my pump, but I had already started pumping. So, since I apparently had already pumped $9.85 of the other dude's gas, the clerk's solution after he spoke with his manager, was for me to pay for the remaining $6.15 at pump 4, and if I wanted to keep pumping at pump 3, I had to re-insert my card and pay again. I was so confused and in a rush to get home, that I was like, uh, ok, fine, I guess. So thinking the clerk was going to set the pump to stop at $6.15, the guy and I go back to his pump, I insert my card, but the pump goes past the amount. (Duh! I hadn't paid the $6.15 inside the store - I paid at the pump - otherwise, the pump would've stopped on the dime). Anyhoodles, the guy stopped it at $9.98 because he got distracted by my beauty (HA!). So back inside we go to talk to the clerk. At this point, I'm still lost and the guy is irritated and so he asks the clerk for receipts for both pumps 3 and 4, and we leave. So as I sit here going over the incident, I'm still confused. Did I get jipped? Or did the guy at pump 4 get jipped? He paid $16 in cash, but only got $9.98 worth of gas, so I'd say he did, but I ended up paying $19.83 for both Marie's car and the guy's. Should I ask for a refund??? And if so, for what amount? read more
