After you finish your tests, for certain programs you are put onto a waitlist and they tell you they will call or email you if there are spots open. I took a test back in September and was waiting for the November waitlist. I eventually did get a call/email that were was spots open and you must register at 8am on a specific day. I didn't follow through as I decided on another school but now I constantly get spam calls from this school. Even when blocked, I get calls from different numbers from this school.

I took the orientation class a few months prior, and the staff is very kind and welcoming. The students are also just as friendly, and you get to know them and socialize a lot in class. The campus has that commuter school feel, and half of it is in bungalows. I'd highly recommend NVOC to any student, especially those coming back to school after a long break. They recently brought back the pharmacy technician program, and have a bunch of other trades. I like how it's connected to other schools in the area under LAUSD. So far, it's been a very positive experience, and can't wait to be an official student.

I took an online module course beforehand for the ACLS, and came in for the in person lecture, skills, and the written test. The instructor did an amazing job explaining all the material and made it less stress-inducing. I am actually about to come in to get another certification in a few days. There are some street parking spaces right next to the building. They also let you know specifically about everything you need to do for the class. Highly recommend!

The hands-on training helped me understand how things work in real life, not just from a book. I feel more confident reading blueprints, understanding NEC code basics, and working safely because of what I learned there. Mr. Shaun was an amazing instructor. He took the time to explain things clearly and made sure we actually understood the material. If we didn't get something the first time, he would break it down in a simple way until it made sense. He pushed us to do our best but also supported us when we needed help. You can tell he truly cares about his students and wants to see them succeed in the electrical field. We barely got a syllabus for term two before she went out on medical leave. My clinical instructors Mr. Dexter, Mr. Nino, Ms. Val and Ms. Donna was wonderful always helping us and making sure we understood our skills. If you needed to speak with any one in the office Ms. Tameeka, Ms. Ethel, and Mr. Noel was always accommodating and will resolve your issues as soon as possible. When it comes to talking with Dr. Arvella , honey be prepared to have thick skin because she come off very abrasive, rude, condescending and didn't care what you are going through. Yes I didn't make it pass term two however speaking with her about trying to reapply back into the program she said that she will have to feel it's in her best interest for her to allow me back into the program and not wasting her time. How the curriculum is set up. I don't care how long you study when it comes to the HESI specially dosage calculations no one really taught us the formulas and which formulas to use for different dosage. On top of that they only gave us a week in between to study for the next HESI with 12 additional assignments that is due that same week. Yes this is an accelerated program but you not giving your students the proper information to succeed. Arvella doesn't care about issue that arise in the classroom or how we feel like we are not learning from our theory instructor. She will tell you that she has personal hand picked her instructors. She hand picked them alright the new clinical instructor Mr. Muhammad kept making sexual comments towards the class when we were doing injections on an hot dog. Saying and I quote "don't put it in your mouths" and laughing about it. Where you have other instructor Mr. Victor getting dropped off by a student. Mind you when you sign up for the program you sign a contract stating no fraternizing with instructors while in school. So I impale Dr. Arvella to ask Mr. Victor about the student who drive the pink Mercedes G wagon who he has been seen having a disagreement with during clinicals. I will not be reapplying to this school and I'm not going to allow someone to dictate when I can come back and be force to retake term one to prove that I'm worthy of her time. But it is okay for a student to be out on medical for 3 weeks and have to option to go back to the term she didn't complete before her medical leave or start the next term. Dr. Arvella plays favoritism with students. Please deeply think about signing up for this college and this location. This school needs to be audit by the board of education.

He took the time to thoroughly explain every chapter of the textbook and made sure we understood each concept before moving on. What I admired most was his patience--he always welcomed questions from my classmates and me, even if they had already been answered or didn't seem directly related to the lesson. He never made anyone feel embarrassed for asking. One of the things that made his class so engaging was the way he shared stories and experiences from his long career as a phlebotomist. Hearing real-life scenarios and learning how he handled them gave us valuable insight into what to expect in the field and helped connect the material to actual patient care. Most importantly, he created a comfortable and supportive environment during lab. Drawing blood from one another can be incredibly nerve-racking. You're trusting people you've only recently met to perform a procedure with a needle, which can be intimidating. Professor Joshua took the time to explain each step, reassure us, and help build our confidence. He never became upset or frustrated when a procedure didn't go as planned. Instead, he remained patient, encouraged us to learn from our mistakes, and reminded us that everyone improves with practice. I genuinely enjoyed my time at So Cal Phlebotomy Institute, and Professor Joshua played a huge role in that experience. His dedication, professionalism, and kindness made the 40-minute drive every morning completely worth it. I highly recommend this program to anyone considering a career in phlebotomy, especially if they have the opportunity to learn from Professor Joshua.
