My most recent experience was to purchase some postage and send out an envelope. It was a basic task that was done quickly and with friendly down home professionalism.

The Estherville Post Office is located near the old Middle School and next to where the old Elks Club used to be. It's also kitty-corner to Bud's Cafe, which when I grew up was a storefront with a stairway that fellow paperboys would wait a 6 AM for our allotments. My father had a larger mail slot at this post office. He used it for both his business and the family mail and there was many a day that a trip to see what was inside was filled with anticipation. Sometimes it was a letter from the cousins or maybe a package that needed to be picked up front. I also enjoyed walking around the lobby, admiring the banks of mail slots, and talking with the guys up front.

For the last 4 packages (that I'm aware of), they've either been late, damaged, broken or even all three. I bought two PS4s (one of which I had to return because the console was damaged and the other one came with 10 shattered game cases, both packages were late.) The third package came, yet again, about 4-5 days later than expected, even though those expectations were longer already because of covid. Funnily enough, I even recorded me opening the package because I wrongfully expected the items to be damaged. Lastly, I just received my 4th package today, which surprisingly got here 2-3 days earlier than I had anticipated, however the package was - you guessed it - broken. 2 stars would be too much, however the only positive experience I've had was the two times I've been inside and the staff were super friendly. Drivers, please be more cautious of packages. Even though the items mean nothing to you, we (the customers) are often disappointed, sad or frustrated when we received shattered item(s).
