The Post Office traditionally for me has never been a place I dreaded going. I always envisioned a…read morefriendly staff of smiling people ready to help you mail your packages. I've only been to the Bellevue and Redmond Post Offices here, and I was very very disappointed with the Redmond Post Office. The location itself isn't TOO bad, but it is a little out of the way. There's ample parking places, but quite a few spots are occupied when you show up. The customer service are itself has been crazy both times I've visited. I have visited at noon and at 2 p.m. and both times there was only one employee and a line of people almost going out the door. Once you get through the 20 minute line, the employees aren't particularly friendly. The people I've interacted with came off as rude and a little condescending. After two consecutive negative experiences, I don't plan on returning to this location unless I absolutely have to.

Oh, and as a clue to anyone reading this... when you pull your car into this location's driveway... DO NOT just STOP and wait for someone to pull out. There MAY be people BEHIND you. You may be HOLDING UP TRAFFIC on the ROAD. I suppose this applies to EVERY driveway though.... but when I went (I parked elsewhere and walked) I watched half a dozen people do just that (stop traffic just so they could get a parking spot) :-[ I know... unrelated to the office... but not really... not if they opened up their back parking lot to customers... :-/

She was working alone, but she was super efficient, yet also personable and friendly. This site isn't like the sterile Redmond site; it is in an older building and is warmer, with character. (Note: I don't quite get the poor reviews of this site due to USPS rate increases, or delayed receipt of packages. Those types of issues are not due to anything this site is or is not doing, but rather are symptoms of an aging postal system that needs re-vamping. This site doesn't set prices for stamps or shipment services. It seems wrong to review this site - or any specific PO site- for these issues, as they are not in the site's control).

That was very sweet. Turned out that our package (which we accidentally had shipped to the wrong apt) got put in our own mailbox anyway, so shout out to the mailman for being on top of it! Then I took my return item and prepaid label down to our Chelan Post Office. Even though the shipping box would be free, I was told to bring my own strapping tape, because they sell that. When I got to the office, the postmaster saw me waiting, opened another window. He took my label, folded together the flat cardboard box, inserted my return stuff, sealed the box, and even offered to attach the label for me. This is the Post Office- folks. 5-stars for the web site. 5 stars for customer service at Chelan P.O. Maybe there is hope for USPS after all - this is a Big Step in the right direction. Most of the communities in Kitsap county are census-designated places (CDP) with populations below 7,000. While I was out front getting my shot of the entrance I carried on a short conversation with one of the workers collecting mail from the drop box.
