I've only lived in three zip codes in my 64 years of life. The first 28, in south St. Louis, MO…read more63111. The next 34, in Barnhart, MO 63012. These last 2 years, in Union, MO 63084. In the 62 years before moving to Union, I NEVER experienced the number of lost or late mail issues that I've already experienced in just 2 years in Union! I remember when a post office job was difficult to get, and a respectable job to have. Today, anyone can work there, and they don't even require uniforms. Therein, lies the problem. I'm old school. I'm not a fan of taking care of bills online. However, I've come to realize that living in Union means, I need to mail my mortgage payments a month early, or drive a few miles further down the road to pay in person. I complained at the Union Post Office the last time they took 11 days to get my mortgage payment delivered to my bank's office, which is only 5 miles from the post office. The lady I spoke to blamed it on the main post office. The main post office never caused these issues before I moved to Union. When a check was mailed to me from a Title company in O'Fallon, MO., I never received it. The Title Company issued me a new check. I still never received it. After a month, they were kind enough to send me a third check. This time, I had them mail it to my sister, in Warrenton, MO. My sister called me the next day to say that my check arrived. I made arrangements to meet her for lunch so that I could get my check. Now here we are, a week after mailing my mortgage payment on Thursday, April 30, before the 5:00 time that's on the box on the post office parking lot. My mortgage company still hasn't received my check. Sidenote...I've never used the tiny mailboxes in the front of my subdivision for outgoing mail. I trust my route carrier even less than I trust the post office. It looks like I have no choice, but to get over my dislike of electronic billing and payments. The USPS is quickly becoming a thing of the past. I have no trust in them at all. Well, not here in Union, that is.
