I also was nearby for 3 other businesses. COVID's less a thing here due to the large amount of distancing naturally there as well as the political bend which is self-explanatory, but somehow everyone obeyed state law and had a face covering, albeit all dubiously effectual cloth masks and I was the only one with a disposable surgical-style mask. Even social distancing in the line which was 20 persons long when I arrived was barely maintained mostly to say nothing about how potentially the science suggests 6ft is insufficient. The wait went quickly with the staff working the usual USPS speed: slowly but existent. There was one customer who did the expected angry blow up with cursing about a letter never making it anywhere after a week so the entire line was treated to the very calm USPS worker's having to deal with such a person. I was just glad to get through my businesses. Equipment, the recognizable IBM-issued scale and POS console, remains dated as is USPS anywhere, at least it had a chip reader. No hand sanitizer, temperature check, gloves, etc. were seen. It's nearly Christmas so let us just be in and out. Parking was very little with only about a dozen spots and then an overflow adjacent lot to the south and a few street spots, all tight and scarce. Building frontage is easy to navigate, preferable to crossing others in the interior. Signage is the usual few exterior signs but most coming know Flemington Main Street very well, if not for a lifetime.

This US post office location is OK if you just need to mail a letter. It is the smallest post…read moreoffice I have been in, and it is very outdated. The glass door between the lobby and The counter is covered with old signs and lots of tape and stickers that have been peeled off partway. It is almost 2020, and there is a big sign about their 2010 holiday hours still clinging to that door. The dropbox outside is about to fall apart from rust. The pens are stuck to the counter with a nest of tangled and dirty packing tape. The whole place has a creepy, "post office that time forgot" feeling. This office does not have a postmaster general working at it. This meant that I was not allowed to mail an aerosol can of hairspray from this location, but had to go to the bigger Bridgewater post office where there is a postmaster general to get special permission to mail hairspray. I have never had a problem with any of the employees here. They have always been calm, and polite, and explained things to me clearly. The parking situation is convenient, as is the access right off of Route 22. The lobby area with the post office boxes is clean. It is in the same building as a Quick Chek.

I'm sure they're nice people but when the line is super long they don't seem to be able to quicken their pace. At Belle Meade they are quick, thorough, and instructive. They teach people how to prepare packages and how to print their postage prior to coming to the service desk. Other post office have people filling out forms and taping packages closed right at the counter while people wait. Their approach is to educate and serve the community so everyone can get in and out as quickly as possible. I've been meaning to create this review for a long time and finally getting to it. Of course their are high traffic times like early morning and lunch time when people are doing errands. Try to avoid those times if you can and I can assure you that you will have a nice experience.
