I've known everyone who works there for years. They are all local people and I see them at other venues/events in town. They know me. Even though December is their busiest month, they still have time to chit-chat and gossip, and even those in line will add details or opinions, as necessary. I'm lucky to get a hello from the counter people at my local PO, so it's a welcome change to what I'm used to. So, my friends and family can't wait to receive a card from "Christmas Town" from me every year. The PO provides cachets (decorative rubber stamps) you can use to personalize your mailing. This is a tedious activity for me, but it's not unusual to see a parent with small children standing around the tables, having fun pressing the stamps onto cards. Interestingly enough, the PO handles 200,000 pieces of mail in December - more than 1000% more than the volume for the rest of the year. Mail is routed through this PO from nearly every state and many foreign countries just for the postmark. If you're close by, or looking for a Christmas day trip (lots to do in the area), make it a point to post your cards from here. Your friends and family will enjoy it.

I want to start off by saying that I understand the world is in turmoil right now, and that…read moredeliveries can get delayed, but this lousy, pathetic post office cannot hide behind that excuse for what they do. I registered for something called 'Informed Delivery Updates' at the USPS web site, which I receive via e-mail. I am notified of the pieces of mail, and the packages/parcels that are to be delivered on a particular day. I receive a lot of packages, and I've had some go missing in the past so registering for the updates provides me current delivery statuses - or so I thought. In the recent past, and TWICE just this past week, I checked the status of my package deliveries using the tracking numbers provided in the updates, and in ALL of those instances, the mail carrier indicated that the packages/parcels were delivered to my mail box or my front porch, and they were not. Here are a few examples of their outright lies: On June 17, the delivery status of my parcel said, "Delivered, In/At Mailbox" with a time stamp of delivery at 6:49 PM. However, when I checked my mailbox, it was not there. I called the post office the next day, and was told they did not know why the status said delivered because it was at another local post office site. They also didn't know why it was at the other location. The package was not delivered until the afternoon of June 18. On June 20, the tracking for my parcel said, "Delivered, Front Door/Porch" with a time stamp of 11:42 AM. The parcel was NOT on the porch or at the front door or left in the mailbox. I called the post office again, and I was told it showed it was delivered, and that they didn't have any more information, that they would have to check into it. I immediately contacted the vendor, telling them I did not get the package, and that it was missing. The vendor, and I spent quite a bit of time looked further into the matter, only to find out that the package had not been delivered at all, and that the status on the vendor site states that as of 12:00 AM on June 20, it is "InTransit/Arriving Late". Another fine example of their "exemplary" service was in late March. The mail carrier had just put the mail in my mailbox, and I stepped outside on my porch to retrieve it. He saw me doing it. The mail truck was parked in front of my house. When I went to open the mailbox, there was a pre-printed sticky note on it saying, "Sorry we missed you." The note stated the mail carrier tried to deliver a package, but no one was available to receive it, and that delivery would be re-attempted on another day. I immediately called the post office. The carrier was told to return that evening to make the delivery he should have when I saw him. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE, AND COMPLETELY OUTRAGEOUS!!! I could accept one occurrence of this as a mistake, but when it happens more than once, and multiple times in one week, then it's blatant disregard, and outright lying. I've gone through great trouble, looking for my items, and contacting vendors, only to find out the packages were not delivered at all. This is disgusting, and reprehensible! I'm going to explore what constitutes fraud, and see if there is something else I can do about this. It has to stop. This post office is a disgrace, and a despicable example of customer service. It is unfortunate that they think nothing about doing an upstanding job. They give the postal service a bad name. Beware! Just know that if you have the terrible misfortune of having your mail, and packages delivered by this location, you will not receive everything without having to hunt it down yourself. Good luck!
