I have lived in Purcellville for 6 years. In that time I have held my mail about 30 times. It has only been done properly twice. I cannot get the mail held. Mail is left in my mail box many times with the door open only to be ruined by rain when I return. I also cannot get it restarted even after going in person and tell them to do so verbally. There is no one to answer the local phone number even though it is supposed to be manned from 8:30-5. There is no voice mail so it requires multiple in person visits to get things back on track. Many times I am told I simply have no mail but after going in three days in a row to recheck, a manager will come out with a whole box of mail and claim they don't know where it came from. They keep blaming temporary workers but even the workers that have been there for 6 years don't seem to care or know what they are doing. My last post office was nothing like this. read more

I don't have any issues with this post office. Have utilized multiple times and the staff has always been very helpful. I have even called and asked a question related to package that seemed to be in-between being delivered. The team answered my call, they were very helpful and I thankfully received the package shortly thereafter. There are always supplies, it's clean and the staff is always friendly. The customer service for this post office deserves a 5 star review. A lot of the negative reviews are years old, reflecting some front staff that no longer work there, earning it whatever reputation it once did. All of the staff that currently work there have been patient, helpful, friendly and apologetic when the line is long, even when you only wait for a minute. I personally have been extra difficult at times for this staff, shipping large parcels globally, causing the line to get held up, as they determine how the hell we're supposed to send a tenor sax to Thailand. With COVID delaying parcels, and the amount of surly folks that come in with their own dour attitudes, who they themselves have probably never worked in customer service, I commend the people that work up front for being able to handle it. read more

Miserable place. I place mail pick up online and I received mail stating. That they could find my mail or they've attempted to get my mail and they couldn't make it because it was blocked and all that lies and excuses. We have a camera recording 24/7 for front door porch, side of the house and back of the house. No one stepped on our porch and there was no blockage. Driver didn't want to leave his vehicle so he throw's excuses. Few days, I've received an email notifying me that the mail was picked up. But no, the mail was sitting on the porch. I don't know who is responsible from this act. These guys should get fired. Our tax mail arrives ripped open. We were on vacation for couple of weeks. We placed our mail on hold. When my husband went to this place to collect our mail, staff said that there was no mail for us. None. So for two weeks we had no mail? This place should get investigated for fraudulent activity. read more

I would give this post office 0 stars if I could. I can't count how many times I've gotten a notice from USPS that a package was dropped off at my home when it wasn't. If you try to call them to see what happened, they don't answer their phone. Or they'll say they tried to drop it off but couldn't for some reason-literally not possible. I've had numerous packages that I'd requested to be dropped off on my porch that end up thrown on the ground up by mailbox-in the rain. Again, this post office falls short. Waited til 6pm yesterday for our daily pickup (commercial), and gave up. The driver never came. Mail that needed to go out yesterday, I had to drive to Merrifield to drop off--a 2.5 hour round trip for me, which got me home at 9pm. A shipment from Amazon that went out for delivery on the truck yesterday, was never delivered to us, and could not be found this morning when one of my people went to the PO to pick it up. This is, by far, the WORST post office I have ever dealt with in my life. That is not hyperbole. We already divert as much of our shipping away from the USPS because of this post office's poor performance. But we are still reliant on them for some shipping. I wish we had an alternative. read more

Absolute worst. I've lost count of the number of times that something was shipped UPS to be delivered by USPS, and the Purcellville office loses it, is confused by it, and just sends it back. This has happened at least three times, the most recent being today. Fortunately, today was just a book--last time it was prescription glasses. UPS can give you meticulous tracking info, up to and including the hand-off, but the dullards at the Purcellville USPS are utterly clueless, insisting they never saw it at first, then bouncing their two collective brain cells together before someone remembers they sent it back because something about the simple address (twice the four digits at the end of the ZIP) was confusing. Poof, the package disappears into the ether. I would give a lot to never have them touch a letter or package for me again. If only the Hamilton office delivered to Hamilton. read more

A package which is crucial to my business was overnighted to me yesterday and stated delivery time was 3pm today. It is now after 6pm and no sign of any delivery. The PO is now closed so I assume that I won't receive my package until tomorrow, so I'm basically screwed. The postage fee was $65. I have screen shots of the tracking page with time stamps and will use them to try to force the PO to refund my money. I have spent today waiting for this package and will likely spend tomorrow doing the same. What a waste of time. And when you're in business, time is money. read more

I've been forced to use this post office for years. If I could give it less than one star I would. The constant issues I face at this location centers around package pickup on location. When a package is not dropped off at my house (usps doesn't want to go up my drive way) I must pick packages up at the location. 90% of the time they cannot "find" the package. This causes a debacle in which I travel back and forth to the location waiting for the package to "be found". There seems to be major disorganization in packages that are returned for pickup on location. I always put on a smile, but recently the constant failure of this establishment has become unacceptable. read more

By far the worst service of any post office anywhere I have ever lived. Mail is put in wrong mailboxes on a regular basis. Delivery is consistently late. Today I was notified by Amazon of an attempted package delivery that was unsuccessful. I was and usually am home everyday. The packages are left of the steps which is fine but no attempt was made to deliver a package. This also happens on a regular basis. Continued complaints by residents in my neighborhood have made no impact. Management of this post office is an embarrassment to the postal service and a complete joke. read more

This is a poorly ran post office dropped a package off to be shipped. 4 days still haven't shipped it. so I called to find out what was going on. they said it's still here they only pick up return shipped items 2 Times a week.i dropped it off on a Monday and called Friday so I guess they weren't picking up this week.I wouldn't recommend using this post office if you don't have to. read more

On a good day, the clerks are unpleasant. I can't understand what most of them are saying as they either mumble or bark. I've been yelled at twice by the middle eastern/asian male clerk that thankfully I have not seen in a while. I often receive packages that require a signature, and they consistently mark "FINAL NOTICE" on the ONE and ONLY orange notification slip that is left in my mailbox. And they kindly note my package will be returned to sender on the following day. This leaves me no way to win - by the time I receive the notification, my package is already gone. I stopped using them to purchase postage at the counter because they always try to over-charge and I don't feel like getting into an argument to mail a package. Now I purchase postage online and drop off my packages at other post offices. When I used them to mail pre-paid packages in the past, they messed up the tracking information every single time, and the items were delivered late. read more

This place is TERRIBLE!! So slow and no one here seems to know how to send a package to an FPO address. You know the care packages made with love from the families of deployed military. Yeah, these people not only can't figure out how to send a flat rate box but they try to charge you four times the amount! I have sent my husband care packages over 30 times during multiple deployments and have never had a problem until I came here. The cost should be $2 less than the normal cost of a flat rate box (which comes to $16.75 currently) and they tried charging me over $65!!! What is wrong with this place!? Is it really that hard to find reliable people to work here? I rather make a further drive to a different post office than come back here. What a waste of time and energy! This post office continually LIES about having attempted a delivery, with no notice left. They've sent back packages to sender without the required 3 notices (after only one).
