The Pennington post office totally sucked for the last decade. It was well known that the workers were less than helpful and the community regularly complained about them... Recently, something magical happened. They hired new workers. Perhaps even trained them! I went in a few months ago and they were efficient and even pleasant! I thought it was just an aberration. So I tried again, and again. For the last few months they have convinced me it's a new world. I'll never say Postal again negatively! read more

Made an appointment for 9:30 am for passport service. Arrived the requested 10 minutes early. It's 9:47, and they haven't even opened the window. We have rung the bell and knocked on the door. There are plenty of voices and laughter coming from the back...while the line is building up front. AWFUL customer service. Just terrible. Update: Once the gate opened at 10am; we were told they were understaffed and that we would have to continue to wait. We did, when we finally got service, the woman could not have been nicer. This post office is the worst. Today, I followed the tracking, and it said they couldn't get into my building to deliver documents, but they had no problem delivering other mail. They lie about delivery times constantly, and you go into the office and they are extremely rude. read more

I have lived in Pennington for 28 years. In person, I have only accolades for the most courteous, pleasant service. However, today the woman with whom I spoke on the phone was not listening carefully to my inquiry, and outright discourteous. I received a package with the SHIP TO: 125 BROMEL PLACE WITH A TRACKING NUMBER. I ordered an art print from Europe and it made it all the way to Pennington and it's next stop should have been hopewell and they sent it to philly! Not once but twice. My item spent more than two whole weeks just sitting there and when it did finally arrive it was damaged and nothing near it's original condition. Absolutely horrible experience. read more

I'd give them less than one star if this was possible. Typical of this branch, the automatic teller machine was out if order this afternoon. And so I arrive with my important letter to mail and no way to use the machine. Since it's around 3:00 pm there's no counter service either. The counter service here is awaful and this is due mainly to one employee. The person chats with every customer, maybe to build a rapport, while a whole line of other people are waiting. A few years ago I used a post office in Africa and this Pennington post office within a week or two of each other. The service in Africa was better. In fairness, in October, 2009 I tried to use a post office in London, England and there the service was worse. The service here has been so awful at times that I've been tempted to write to their head office and say that if they're thinking about closing branches, to please out this one at the top of their list. neg 5 stars were it possible. Can't call up because they do not answer their phone! Rude does not begin to describe the counter service. If you do go, be sure to deal with the woman on the left. Abusive is closer to the mark. Arbitrary application of rules, new rules on every visit, so I complained. They took my package and held it for internal rules review for 40 minutes despite my pleas... late to teaching a class as a result. The new supervisor, who refused to provide her name, is simply abusive... Can only imagine how horrible it must be to work there. Avoid. I live a mile away but will take my postal business to Hopewell Boro or Titusville, both of which provide sterling, 5 star service. There, I am treated well and never overcharged. read more

The only reason this post office is getting one star is because no stars is not an option. The have failed in their mission to deliver the mail. I was waiting for a package from Amazon-a belt, donor a large package- when I checked the order site on Amazon it stated delivery attempted. This is a alternate fact, no delivery was attempted, we were home all day. We also didn't receive any mail that day. The Pennington post office is not only incompetent they are prevaricators. This is not the first incident of failed service for the past few months, mail had been delivered late or not at all, mail is regularly delivered to the wrong address. They don't do what they are paid to do: deliver the mail. It's absolutely unbelievable- if what you're sending or receiving is time-sensitive- go FedEx or another service. The REALLY messed up thing is that you'll see them delivering Amazon on SUNDAY. They're loving the extra cash there; the actual job we pay them to do? Unprofessional, lazy shirking. read more

This is likely one of the worst post offices in Mercer County New Jersey. I have to concur with the other users of Yelp in giving this location one star, but I would give fewer if possible. In the 25 years that I have lived in this town, I have received nothing but rude service when engaged with employees at the window, I have faced long lines, I have been short-changed by the automatic stamp machine, and God forbid if your mail carrier is out sick or on vacation. Worst service and the rudest people. They refused to mail my package because of yesterday's date on prepaid eBay shipping label. Awful Post Office. Where do I start: 1) For the past 10+ years, we put in a vacation stop every time we go away. Yet, EVERY time we go away - they deliver the mail to our house. It's happened over 50 times. And, same thing happens to our family & friends. When we complain, they always say, "We're sorry, it must have been a replacement postal carrier that week". Sad. 2) I work in Pennington Borough in a commercial building. The mailmen for years have fouled up our mail here. We constantly have to re-deliver the mail by walking it over to other tenants. And, for Certified Mail - the postal carrier is supposed to come to your office door to deliver it. Nope...never happened. He just puts a slip in your box with a form you have to take to the Post Office to pick up the mail. Lazy. As one fellow tenant said, "The Pennington Post Office employs the Helen Keller method of mail delivery". 3) Based on #2 above, I finally relented and got a PO Box (at $250 a year fee). But, that's always wrong - my mail to the PO Box has been returned. Worse - I often get mail for other people (and those people don't even have a PO Box - it's a street address delivered to a PO Box for some reason). 4) Finally, some of the counter people are, without a doubt, the rudest people you will ever meet. I've tried everything over the years - complained to the counter people and our Postman. Tried to work with them. I've even complained to the various Postmasters and once even to our Congress person (he advised that Congress doesn't have oversight over the Post Office and nothing he could do). Regardless, nothing has changed - and nothing likely will. To top it all off, something happened this Summer with their landscaping. The lawn wasn't mowed in numerous weeks and the grass was knee-high. It was embarrassing....a US Government office looking like a dump. read more

Incredibly rude post office. I avoid going into this branch because the people at the counter are so hostile. I'm never sure what their problem is. I've never asked them to do anything too taxing. Just mailing a package. This afternoon I spoke to someone on the phone to schedule having a passport done. The United States Post Office employee was curt, abrupt and completely unhelpful. With the display of horrible customer service at this post office it isn't difficult to see why this institution is going bankrupt. I'll have my passport done at the Princeton Jct. office where they are pleasant and efficient. I'll continue to use the Hopewell Post Office for my mailing needs. They are super friendly and after your interactions with them you leave smiling. read more

Wish this could be Negative 5 Stars. It's a shame. Pennington is a nice little town and deserves so much better than these people. Staff is rude when you go in, and as for delivery -- well more than once they have failed to deliver registered letters and even small packages and LIED about it. We work from home, there are always at least two adults here, and the office is in the front of the house. No way was "delivery attempted." And please don't tell me I can "come pick it up." I PAID for the Post Office to DELIVER it. If the drivers are TOO LAZY to deliver packages, they need to be fired. If office staff does not understand basic courtesy, they need to be fired. If the Post Master cannot manage the office, he/she needs to be fired. Time for a complete overhaul here. read more

If you are lucky to receive an answer on the telephone, you will not get any resolution to any issue that you may have with them; they do not listen, they do not care. Zero stars. Went today to track down a missing package that UPS said was at the post office . The very rude woman at the front (and everyone in Pennington knows who I'm talking about...TRANSFER HER PLEASE...I'd say fire her but I don't think the post office ever fires anyone) ... anyway, she had me wait while she searched the back for 10 minutes with a long line behind me. The last day before Christmas and only the rude lady is on duty. She came back and said the supervisor was looking. He came out after 15 more minutes and said he couldn't find it. He took my cell phone and my husbands and said he would call with an update. This package had all my grab bag gifts for Xmas Eve. My husband drove over two more times and the rude lady threw her hands in the air and said "what do you expect me to do?" And then lowered the gates on the window and said they're closed while he stood there. The supervisor never called our cell phones with an update . I had to go out and buy new grab bag gifts. This is the worst post office. Residents in Pennington are too nice and polite. I believe we need a petition to remove the rude lady and demand better service from all the employees . read more
