I was served by a clerk; badge said LYNECE. Clerk was very friendly and helpful. I wish that more clerks were like her!! It is nice to get a smile. It is a miserable post office fortunately for the last decade I had a really great mailman but when he goes on vacation all breaks loose I've watched the substitute go up and down my dead end rd leaving mail in all the wrong mailboxes if they leave mail at all. most times my mail will wait until my regular driver comes back and sorts through the mess that these people have made. read more

While finishing up another day in peekskill on business I decided to visit the local post office which looks older then Jimmy Carter as I needed to send a few letters to Texas next day and lucky me as I don't have to wait on line or deal with a sarcastic window clerk as the self service kiosk handles it all with a credit or debit card only .Place looks clean and organized, all postal forms are available without asking a postal worker and kiosk machines are easy to use . I won't disagree with the many bad reviews about customer service cause the USPS is famous for that , but if you visit a local post office that has self service machines and if you are able to do business without waiting on line or dealing with a postal clerk then I highly recommend you choose that path . 3 stars on my yelp meter . read more

USPS in Peekskill is absolutely the WORST. Not only are their employees rude and hang up on you when you call to inquire about missing packages, but the post master also fails to return calls left for him. The letter carriers are constantly losing packages or delivering mail to the wrong addresses. They also leave mail on the sidewalk instead of walking 10 extra steps to the door. If USPS is so concerned about surviving, they should probably weed out their rude, lazy, and incompetent employees. USPS wants to be trusted with mail in ballots but they can't handle SIMPLE tasks? The mail never comes on time. Whatever you are receiving never gets delivered on schedule. The mailman is always late and they have no care about your mail. A check of mine that had arrived yesterday was not delivered due to the lazy workers who decided to push it aside not log it in and leave for the next day. Now my family has no money for gifts, bills etc. someone needs to take over. They need a new postmaster. Whoever runs this place please replace the rude employees that work there as well and who get mad when you asked about your mail with no assistance. Enough is enough. I just called the Peekskill Post Office in reference to a package that was transferred to USPS to be delivered to me for UPS. The worker who answered the phone was extremely rude. He told me I should read his lips that the package is still in Yorktown and if I want to receive it before tomorrow I would have to pay for a premium delivery. He was very condescending and quite frankly they can keep the package. I'll be on a beach tomorrow while he'll be in New York freezing and still being rude. This office needs to be closed. On a weekly basis we don't get mail if the carrier doesn't know how to read an address or if the carrier decides not to show up to work. If we do get it delivered it is thrown at the door, left on the steps, or is is for a different address. Packages are left in the driveway (including next to the road multiple times), are never delivered but the carrier will mark that a delivery was attempted (again multiple times), and 2 day delivery consistently arrives in 3 to 5 days because they get the package before 9am but won't deliver it til the next day. It is to the point where I will not buy from an online store if they only ship UPSP because I just don't have the patience or time to constantly figure out how to get my mail and packages. read more

The line was extremely long with one person working behind the counter, but yet they're never hiring. This always seems to be the issue with this place. The service is poor. There is a thicker white gentleman who is pleasant, but this new woman of color is miserable and rude. Union job or not, customer service is needed. My story: When I moved to 916 Main Street in Peekskill in 2010 mail was not put in our mail boxes by the mailman, it was handed to whomever was nearest the door in the deli downstairs. We rarely got our mail and never in a timely manner. Continued complaints to the post office resulted in my PO Box being closed October 2013, a box I would not have needed if able to get mail at the 'artist loft'. Approximately 9 months later I was allowed open another, I continued to complain how mail delivered to my physical address and the second Box was closed by the post office with the explanation all my mail would be returned to sender though I discovered later did not happen. Mail was not returned to sender creating many difficulties I am still having to unravel. I moved from Peekskill and arranged to have mail forwarded on August 13, 2014; August 27, 2014 I received letters from early July sent to the Peekskill PO Box. Why was mail sent July 7, 2014 to an address that was closed October 2013 available to be forwarded August 27, 2014!? When I questioned this forwarding was undone The manner in which the Peekskill Post Office is against the letter of the law; are they a franchise not subject to the same federal laws and regulations? If I could leave 0 stars I would. Mail comes late and at inconsistent times, constant wrong deliveries, packages casually tossed over my fence, security camera footage of package been tossed on the front steps while the carrier was on his cell phone and then ran away from my dogs who yes were barking - that's what dogs do...but were inside the house behind not 1 but 2 closed, locked doors. Not to mention the recent bogus "attempted delivery- animal interference" claim when again security camera footage proves a) no attempt was even made b) I was home c) my dogs were inside...asleep on the couch. My dogs are never ever outside unsupervised let alone off a leash. Y'all have some nerve. At least if you're gonna lie do it to a house without cameras I mean really? DUH! read more

I have lived in Peekskill for over 6 years and try to avoid this post office. The wait is usually at least a half hour and the service is below par. I will drive 20 minutes to a different post office in a different community to not be inconvenienced. read more

I was having trouble receiving my mail at my home address so I opened a PO Box in peekskill...After two weeks of not receiving anything in my box and complaining every day I still cannot get a clear answer as to what is going on with my mail! For some reason the mail is not going to my box they're holding it in the back!?! The only person that seems to care or have any idea as to how anything works in the whole building is the lady with the short blond hair! As good as it gets for service! Had a parcel coming in the other day and I wasn't going to be home to sign for it when the mailman usually drops the mail. The website says they open at 9am but it was 8:30 am and since I was heading out, I took the chance to call them to see if they would answer. They did! I spoke to a very nice person Christine. I told her my dilemma and she told me she would set the package aside so I can pick it up at 9:15am. I then got a call back about 10 mins later from Christine, she told me she was having trouble locating the package in the office due to so many packages being there. She didn't want me to waste my time coming there if she didn't find it first. She told me she would call me back as soon as she finds it. At 9:30am I got a call back and told me she found it and everything is good for pickup. This is very good service in my book, I dealt with other post offices before when I lived in lower Westchester and it was no way near this type of service. For years I've been attempting to have the post office leave a slip rather than leaving my packages in the hallway of my apartment building due mainly to the fact that I leave for work early in the morning and don't make it home until evening (why create an opportunity when none should exist?). Sporadically (a week here, perhaps a month there) I have received a slip letting me know a package has arrived and then, without any forewarning or reason being given, my packages are once again being left unattended in the hallway of my apartment building. I had thought the solution would be to have all of the mail held but that didn't work due to the fact that the post office ignored the slip and continued to deliver the mail uninterrupted. Calling the 1-800 number resulted in a rather angry and rude woman insisting that I hadn't a full comprehension of the English language before she hung up the phone disconnecting the call. Dealings with this branch makes me wish that the whole organization would be taken over by private industry, at least then perhaps there would be some decent customer service. read more
