My complaint is about the U.S. Postal Service in general, but it is triggered by having made a special trip to this post office at 8:40 a.m. and it was closed when it is supposed to open at 8:30 a.m. There were 6 or 7 people that had tried to use the post office. I know there is traffic and things can happen, but they should have two people set up for the opening hours so if someone gets delayed there is a back up there to open. read more

I made multiple passport appointments that were canceled the day of two weeks in a row. When I arrived for my third appointment I was spoken to extremely rudely and waited for over 30 minutes. I really have tried to give this post office the benefit of the doubt, but I really can't anymore. I had a package go missing once after being marked as delivered, and the second I opened up an investigation with the post office and complained, it showed up the next day with a hole punched into the side of the package. Recently, I tried to reschedule a missed delivery for pick up at the post office. It has been two days and they still have zero idea where my letter is. This letter has an expiration date before it ends up getting returned to the sender, and I highly doubt I will ever receive it with them always losing mail. The tracking number states it was forwarded to a nearby address, and when they asked me if I had a forwarding address I replied I did not. So either they lost my letter or decided to dump it off at some random address (my guess since it wasn't at the post office). The service inside is always super slow and the same blonde middle-aged employee always sends me away with the same useless phone number and no apologies after pretending to look for my multiple missing packages for ten minutes. (Once while keeping me waiting, her coworker told me she wasn't even looking and was in the back breaking down boxes). To top it off, they constantly deliver other people's mail to our address even though I clearly stated that they do not live here. It's not our job to do their jobs. read more

Completely humiliated today by a worker who, upon giving her my package, laughed out loud in my face and said "This is packed so horrible! Did you actually think you could send this??? Tried to call the post office & had to listen to a recording that just rambled on & on, then when you think you will talk to someone, it rambles on again (press this, press that) this happens anytime you press a key that you think will get you someone. Northville PO on Wing St - Unprofessional and incompetent. Maybe not everyone however clearly some of the people there are fools. They refuse to forward mail including bills. It's clear they there are some people who work there who can't be depended upon to do their job. Worst USPS I have ever encountered. When I go in some staff are good. Not great. Just good. Other post office branches have people who understand how serving the public works and respond accordingly. This place bleeds tension and and has an edgey air of unfriendlyness. They tolerate the public but you better have your sht together because they aren't putting up with people who don't know how to please the workers. read more

This is what my post deliver person left in my mailbox. There was no address of where to go pickup my mail and in my opinion, it definitely could have fit. When I picked up my mail and requested to speak to the postmaster, of course they had left for the day. There was no apology, no explanation of this unprofessional and junky note and the lady who assisted me actually said "I'm sorry that you didn't know where we were located" (as if it was my fault for not knowing their location was there). I'm at this post office several times a month and have gotten to know the workers quite well. They're always very kind and helpful. Even when the line is long it moves pretty quickly, and the workers always try to find the cheapest and fastest way for you to ship your packages. read more

"How ya gonna do that?" is the response I received when I told the clerk why I was there. I proceeded to answer her, like you would answer a school teacher or someone who feels they have authority over you. She smirked, walked away, came back with some forms and told me to come back when I had the correct information. Cool! Thanks so much. We moved onto my next transaction. She was able to help with that one and went above and beyond by pointing out to me (and my daughter who was standing there) that I "was not organized." Is this really happening? Wow! This was particularly bad ! Received a Priority Mail envelope last Thursday, March 29th - a day full of rain! Envelope was left exposed on my porch, rather than placed in mailbox on house. I'm not sure why this Post Office gets such a bad reputation? The Post Office is small and they have usually 2 workers at all times. I'm quite fond of one of the ladies that works there. She knows me so well that I hardly have to say anything and she's got my stuff scanned and ready to go. I think the problem with the post office is the ignorance of the people that go there. Look and learn. I will teach you: 1. Don't ask for tape! Tape costs money you fool, go buy your own cheap skate. This brings me to my 2nd gripe 2. Have your forms and packages sealed, addressed and ready to go. Don't hold up the line while you start taping and addressing the packages. 3. If you are doing said behavior #2 then act like a human being and step out of line till your done so other people can get their stuff shipped. 4. My last point and this is really key. Have everything ready to ship when you step up to the counter. Don't try to haggle about prices and what not. No one cares what you think of the price. That's the price, pay it or go to UPS or FEDEX and pay double. A crash course in how not to be an idiot at the post office: Have the sending address and return address clearly written on the package far left side of the package. If you want tracking on your envelope or package and you put the address in the dead center they will have to put the tracking ticket over some parts of the address. Make sure everything is securely taped and packaged properly so that nothing gets damaged. That wasn't so hard, was it? It's not the Post Office's fault that you're a lazy person and you hold up the line causing many other people to have to wait longer. Don't blame the post office people, blame these lazy idiots who come to a gun fight with a pencil! I've never had a problem from this post office and I go to this branch maybe twice a week. All 3 of the ladies that work there are always kind and courteous. So whatever horror stories you read down below of the clerks being angry is because of stupid people who don't know how to do the most basic thing as mail an envelope! That's the truth! read more

As a professional e-commerce seller that visits this location daily, and many others, I can say that the Northville USPS is very reliable, professional and courteous. Although always busy, most all my packages are always scanned in, even if left at counter. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Services are better then other post office locations which have been unreliable. Although there is no perfect USPS location, this location is worthy of excellent 5 star review. If there was an option to give this office 0 stars that's what it would get. They've refused to deliver all of our mail this week and refuse to give a legitimate reason why. If it's federal offense to tamper with someone's mail then shouldn't it be a federal offense to not deliver it because you're too lazy? I have had to come here many times in the past month in order to drop off packages to ship. I already paid for the shipping labels from Ebay, so I could just drop off the packages (said one of the employees). However, when I went to this place the next time to drop off packages, one of the employees vocally complained about having to take the packages, while I was waiting in line to get boxes. I was absolutely humiliated and would never want to come here again, if it weren't for the items I am selling online. After reading other reviews on this site, I think many other people could agree with me. The workers that were there the times I have gone have been unnecessarily rude to me. I simply ask a simple question in order to clarify something, but I get rude remarks and attitude, rather than respectful customer support. I think that the employees could be nicer to their customers. I have not ONCE been rude to them, yet I get huge attitude when I want to ask about something or drop off a box. I am genuinely in awe of how humiliated I felt when I tried doing... normal customer things today. I really hope that it was only me that was treated this way- but I doubt it. Put in a request for a mail hold. The hold began on Saturday, June 16th. The mail hold was to end on Tuesday, June 19th. I chose to have the mail delivered to the home address by the carrier. The hold mail request has expired. I still await the return of my held mail.?! read more

Run, don't walk, to another post office immediately. Delivering packages to the right address is definitely outside of the skillset of the employees at this post office. Rest assured you will be treated with the utmost disrespect when you call to try and locate your lost packages. Pay the extra shipping expense to make sure UPS or FedEx sees your delivery through to the end. You may never see your item if it is transferred to THIS post office for final delivery. Worst. Worst post office I have ever dealt with. The lady that handles problems is very rude and defensive. I have had packages thrown in the mud under mailbox and crushed to fit in mailbox. It seems as if a bill is missing every month, therefor I have gone all to paperless billing. I often get the wrong mail and receive mail with wrong address written on them, meaning they also went to the wrong address. Cannot process mail to APO addresses efficiently; open for business, but cannot access their computer so all they can do is talk to you; do not have current stamps available; long wait times; and no credit card chip technology--- unbelievable for a government agency. read more

I hate that I am so reliant on this post office when I ship from home. They don't have a drop off box so no matter what you have to wait in line or hope they will honor your pick up request. Sometimes they will come the day you request.. sometimes 3 days later.. or they will leave packages MIA 3 or 4 days until you call and complain that you can't see tracking information. With 3 little ones I depend on their pick up service but it does everything but make my life easier! Customer service is seriously lacking, everyone hates their job and they have no explanation for when your items aren't showing up as received. I pay for tracking so I can see where it is and give my clients a heads up... scanning after delivery doesn't help when shipping cookies! read more

This is a small facility and almost every time I go the line is long. The employees are probably overworked because they are frequently curt and sometimes close to being rude. I frequently ship internationally and it is most annoying that they keep the forms for international mailing behind the counter instead of on display. So you wait in line to mail a package, then have to get however many forms you need, fill them out, and either get in line again or interrupt the line in order to mail them. read more
