My issue is the long line and the lack of available packing supplies inside. I wish they had an automatic machine like some of the other post offices have. However, I gave this location 4 stars because the staff is so friendly, helpful, and professional. They do their job well and try to save you money by offering the cheapest shipping. They are quick and efficient - hopefully they hire more workers during the peak business hours because the line does take a while. read more

Never seems to get easier the line is always long since the cut backs. You would think they would have at least 2 people at the counter during lunch time when most people can get here BUT no they don't. Oh well I should look into on-line payment and then drop off my package during break. read more

I never know the hours so I always have to check yelp. I never go on the crowded hours so I have no idea what anyone else is talking about. I go here all the time. Fast and friendly service. Park across the street if you can't find street parking. :) ALOHA, 5 stars! read more

Day 001/365 Yelp Challenge 2011 According to the news, this is one of the post offices in our state that may close down. I come here to mail my student's writing samples to various contests and my ebay sales. Parking is free in the underground parking garage, no pulling of ticket necessary. I have to rush from work sometimes to get here before they close at 4 p.m. If this post office closes down, I guess I'll be going to the one in Pearl City, 96782 or the GBC express location, inside of Pearl Ridge, on the Macy's end. read more

I remember when this post office first opened in Kapolei in the 90s. Back then all the way to the early 2000's it was pretty awesome. There was always 3 people at the registers, and their selection of unique stamps and mailing/packaging items on the shelves were expansive. Now, this post office looks like it's on its last leg. No longer are there the cool stamps hanging on the displays. The boxing/packaging material is sparse - if any. There is only one person at the register most times, which makes the line horrendously long and takes forever to get to the front. However, despite the hard times, everyone who worked here was always friendly, and accomadating. The parking sucks at peak hours. You either park on the street (good luck) or the free parking garage below. Even that gets crowded sometimes, but at least it is free. read more

I've always enjoyed this location. I remember when they were talking about closing & I was so upset. I filled out one of those votes saying I favor the location & was convinced that it's busy enough to stay open. I expect the lines, but have the freedom to show up at the good times when's it's not too busy. But still, I'd rather wait here then at the other locations further from my house. STAY OPEN! THANKS! read more

My problem is that there is no good phone number to call and actually have them answer the phone. The phone number they have listed will ring itself off the wall until it disconnects you. The number for Kapolei is also the same number for Waipahu. The only other number you can call is their toll-free number, which you get to talk to a computer that can't seem to be able to connect you with an actual live person. Unfortunately, I don't have that extra 45 minutes to an hour to stand in line, just to find out that I need to go to another post office and wait in their line. If they have an actual Customer Service number where they do answer the phone during Hawaii time, that may eliminate the need for frustrated people that just want to get their packages. I'd love to support our USPS, but their Customer Service really needs to improve and be more "user-friendly".... I know there are people out there that need a job...I believe that the USPS could utilize more Customer Service Reps that are available during the hours that the post office is actually open. read more

I've had my fair share of going to post offices just because I'm an avid ebayer and I have friends and family all over the world. Mailing packages is something I'm somewhat of an expert. I love the fact that the service is always friendly. They are always trying to help me find the most economical way to send a package whether it's priority mail or flat rate, etc. My gripe??? Where's the pickup window that many post offices have? The one where you push a button and someone from the back opens up a window and delivers your package when you show an ID card. A separate line to pick up packages would be convenient. Also, where's the automated postal machine that weighs your package, prints out postage? In previous postal offices, this was located outside of the post office but inside the facility and fully accessible at any hour of the day. It was perfect for people who need to come outside of business hours. Lines no matter what hour you come here are unbearable. An automated postal machine would be an ideal fix. hint hint... read more

I needed some supplies and needed to drop off a priority box. Since this was the closet post office (after looking up one on Yelp), I find the place. Parking is underground and you really have to look for it to know you can park there for the post office. Unless you're lucky to find parking right in front (which has only room for two cars). Finally, parked and took the elevator to the lobby and found myself in a different building than where the post office was......okay, a litte walk does kill anyone. Yes, the sign says it opens at 10 a.m. and it's only 7:30 a.m. However, you couldn't even get in unless you have a PO Box with them. All I wanted to do was pick up supplies and use one of the Automated Postal machines. FAIL......you can't do that at this location. Sorry, I will never fo to this post office again......... read more

I could use a half star rating right now. Kapolei Post Office is small, but the people there are friendly and willing to help you with any mail needs you may have. The parking is a little hectic but they have a parking lot or you can try and park on the road but don't park in the library. Now I love the staff and the service, but why do they have to have the crappiest hours for a post office? Opening at 10 so you have to schedule your day around that? What if you have to go to work? And closing at 4? Why not till 5 when people finish work? My gripe is when you have to actually sign for a pick up I guess. But better hours couldn't hurt right? read more

US Post Office - Post Offices Near Me - Kaumakani, Hawaii

This place seriously needs more parking it's sad that there's no in front parking like most post office a few you got to go under ground for parking and walk up really?!?.. to me it's kind of an inconvenience... One thing I like Is that I use the p.o boxes for some important mail to get sent instead of home and I like the face that you can come on non business office hours for example a Sunday when there no crowd and punch in the code to open the door.... I just think it's a wrong location.... Also I parked to drop off my mail the other day a d there were other cars parked I guess and luckily I was only dropping off mail because here comes the blue sirens and lights to ticket those who parked longer...UNLESS YOU WANT A TICKET I SAY PARK AT THE LIBRARY AND WALK OVER... read more

Do you know what this post office needs? A drive-thru! I need to pick up and drop off packages as fast as possible and then scram the heck out of there! I don't want to wait in line if people are going to be breathing down my neck and asking me where my package is addressed to or whatever. None of your beeswax! There are three windows, but I've only seen two employees working at the most. At least they are friendly and not grumpy like me when I get here. And don't park in front of the post office on Haumea street. I always see parking violation tickets on those cars! Must be the same nosy people in line! Which leads me to the dreaded parking garage. Good luck with that. At least it's not like that tight ass parking garage at Ward Warehouse. Oh the hibby jibbies. I need the least amount of human interaction as possible. My kids suck the life out of me as it is! read more

Lines can get long during weekends. I'm not really sure how busy it is during regular hours. Regardless, the staff are very friendly and that this branch is very convenient for me as it's on the way to home from work. read more

Parking is kind of hard to find on the street. There's a parking garage nearby that most people don't notice. But I notice most people park across at the library. I've been there when it's busy and the service is good. There is one time when he charged me for an envelope I already paid for, so double check if they charge you for something else. read more

where i pick up my overnight parts from japan. glad they opened this location. although small, it's very convenient. it has tons of parking too. garage pay-free parking and accross the street at the public library. and the staff is always friendly. they used to open at 9, but now they open at 10 so that kind of messed things up for the people that have things to do in the morning. but other than that, it's convenient to have this location if you're not strapped for time read more

I usually come late afternoon which the line is short but they always have 3 people behind counter. Today I came at lunch and they only had 1 person behind counter w line out the door. This is ridiculous. This place doesn't care about customers and why would leave this poor man by himself. Where did the rest of the people go? read more

2/2/2014 its 10:38 am and the line is out the door...one worker only...people keep coming and going. My son is restless for the last 20 minutes we been in line...I just think they should have someone else help when lines and wait times get ridiculous. read more

Over 20 people in line. One employee at the front desk helping people. Not to mention that parking is terrible. UPS across the street also ships USPS. I'll be going there next time. read more

This place would be much improved by a self service machine or at least a vending machine to buy stamps!! Waited in line for 30 + mins to mail an oversized envelope. I was behind an elderly man on crutches who also waited in line all that time. No one invited him to go ahead. When he finally got to the front, they didn't have what he needed. read more

No matter what time I show up it's always a massive line, I have been waiting a half hour already today. Pretty good time by this post offices standards. Why there is not two windows open ALL THE TIME is beyond me. The post office is so broke I feel rich!! Avoid at all costs. read more

Terrible.. always only one person working on Saturday mornings every time I go. The line is always to the door. I left and went to Pearl City last time where two people were working and there was no one in line. read more

The workers here are EXTREMELY rude. One is louder then she has to be yelling I CAN HELP WHOS NEXT. Then repeating herself slowly like people are stupid. Not to mention the lack of communication. I called the post office in regards of a "Undelievered as addressed" package. I left a voice mail to the 832 number. A man calls back and says Kapalama has it. I get down there and the worker tells me that they dont have it so she dont know who I spoke to but the supervisor will get back to me. I called the 832 number again and the same man left a voicemail saying "I dont know who you talked to but it says they have it for the next 10 days. Ask to speak to a supervisor". Are you kidding me? read more

Every comment here is for the Post Office in Kapolei on Oahu; this is the Post Office in Kaumakani on Kauai.

y'all need to start ringing the doorbell when you guys deliver your packages to homes, cause i was home the whole entire time and didn't hear a single knock or a ring. my dogs didn't even bark. you must have some ninja mailmen cause all i found was a note nudged in between my door saying i missed the pick up. bs. damn your ninja mailmen. read more

Honestly I don't know why I even bother to come to this post office even though it's ten minutes from my house. There's always only one person at the register and when they open at 10 am there are already 15 people in line waiting to be serviced. What pisses me off the most is that when they deliver a package most of the time they leave a note saying that you have to pick it up at their store. I would gladly make the extra 30 minute trip to go to the post office in Ewa Beach where the wait is less than 5 minutes because there's always at LEAST 3 people at the counter. ..who are always friendly. read more

They Suck. The mail carrier s never put any parcel package in my box at home or even bring to the house. They leave a slip for me to pickup at post office. Ok. I get there, there is 1 or 2 people at the counter n the line is out the door. Service is bad, wait time bad, packaging supplies bad, parking and location is poor. Move this post office to Barber Point n renovate to a full fledge post office. Kapolei has grown n the post office has not. Come on man..... doesn't take a rocket scientists to figure this out. Start writing your district reps to fix this problem. Lucky our mail carriers don't live in cold cities where they have to walk door to door in the snow. Or heat like AZ. let's get it together people. read more

Now this is feb 20th (a mail day SAT) i get a call from the manager at the waipahu post office stating that i will receive it either mon or tues!! Wait what!!???
