July 12, 2026 - Helper, UT…read more Enjoyed our walk down Main Street. It was early Sunday, so most shops were closed, but with all the historic buildings, there was much to see. There is an audio walking tour through the TravelStories app which is helpful as a guide. Helper was one of Utah's most ethnically diverse towns in the early twentieth century. Italians, Slovenians, Croatians, and Serbians immigrated to the area to work in the coal mines for the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad. Scattered along Main Street are 27 embedded sidewalk plaques. Each one reads "Welcome Friend" in a different language, representing the diverse backgrounds of the miners and railroad workers who built Helper in the 20th century. What a great tribute!

Not long ago, the city of Helper, Utah had a bad reputation. Residents from neighboring towns…read moreavoided Helper due to its crime rate and overabundance of drugs. While this may be true for some parts of the city, the downtown area is actively undergoing a face lift, and people are putting a good amount of effort into making it a charming small town. There are glorious old buildings-rich with history-all around. Each one has its own story, and possibly a ghost or two. Many of the original signs are still in place outside of the businesses-which adds the the ambiance. If you walk up or down the main street, you'll likely find yourself in conversation with a local resident. Most of them are extremely friendly, eager to chit chat and happy to tell you about the town. Take in some of the local eateries and museums, and be sure to get a picture with the iconic statue of Big John (you can't miss him.)

A company that spends way more than they make and still fails in every regard…read more During Xmas time, I had 3 packages of mine delivered to others houses. Thankfully the people were honest and took the time to drop off my packages. I had to do the same for another person's package that was delivered to my house. Twice now, I've got mail addressed to someone Texas. Last year, had a package from Cincinnati coming.... tracking said it was delivered to my house, but of course it wasn't. Calling the post office and going there a number of times yielded no help short of "the tracking says it was delivered, so it was"... given the track record I've seen for their accuracy in delivery, I'm sure someone else ended up with my package. The worst part is, there was nothing to be done. Try complaining in a federal building and see what happens. Lines inside are usually long. The list of "can't ship" items is ridiculous. A bankrupt company with worthless service and getting worse by the year. And we pay for it.

(Service??? What does that mean??) we had to file an insurance claim for damaged property we received, which was insured, and he spouted our incorrect answers and made us feel like idiots. I had to call customer service on 2 different occasions to get the correct answers because he thought he knew everything, turns out he doesn't. Total jerk, I'll drive a little out of my way to go to Salem, they were AWESOME!!!

I have called about 10 times and never get anyone to answer, not even to say that they were busy and needed to place me on hold or anything. All the kids working here (they're young, I'm not!) are very friendly and helpful, and will go out of their way to give you better information if needed. They're usually busy yet don't have the "motor vehicles" type lines the other place always has-- the staff is fast and keeps things going quickly. They also have no problem with the AAA and AARP discounts that UPS stores are supposed to offer. At the other store, I had a clerk flatly tell me "she never heard of that"-- with a sticker mentioning both right in the doorway! This location adds it on cheerfully and promptly, and doesn't treat me like a liar when I mention it! That doesn't sound hard but it's a big thing when you've had the opposite experience. I enjoy stopping in here, which is a vast improvement!

When it was time for my receipt, which I declined, the system printed out a blank label page instead which he gave to her. So she got to draw her own sticker.
