You meet your neighbors at the Post Office. You make decisions at the Post Office. You see your contractors at the Post Office. And in New London, you pick up the latest copy of the Kearsarge Shopper, the ultimate must-know, should-know, wanna-know, TMI, and why-do-I-know publication in the area. The Post Office provides a huge service in the town of New London. Located a few steps from the local grocery store, it makes a one-trip shopping, errands and mail stop a reality. In addition, a large part of the town's population rents PO Boxes due to the Winter practice on the part of the state snowplows to invariably take down mail poles with the boxes next to each address. Staffed by really nice people who realize they're making a contribution to the well being of the town and the vitality of the community.

First of all they have ample parking, so if you are mailing a large item or small you don't have to worry about parking on the curb or the main road. This is huge and has made all the difference in each and every visit to the post office (I've been three times this past week, so it's probably obvious I would have strong opinions about this post office). The entrance is clearly marked and I have had no trouble opening the doors to get inside. I was a fool last week and went to the local department store to get envelopes when they have a full display right there in the main part of the office! Not only do they have envelopes they also have boxes and complimentary tape and pens. I brought my own pen but if I had forgotten it in the car I could have used one of the pens available there. The staff have all been outstanding as well. I have been helped by three different people this week and they have all been courteous, friendly, and mildly amusing. They clearly like their job and are proficient in executing the mail services in Randolph. I honestly didn't think that a trip to the post office could be this outstanding but the USPS in Randolph has proved me wrong. Do yourself a favor and drop a letter off!

For a number of reasons we wanted to rent instruments rather than traveling with them. No one responded to the request for contact I sent through the website. I called 21 times (no exaggeration) from Sept 7 - Dec 13 at different times of day when they were supposedly open according to their website. All my calls and visits were during open hours. I wanted to rent an acoustic guitar while visiting family in Hanover in mid-December. There was never an option to leave a message. They answered only twice. The first answer was in late October and an employee said I could come in when I got to town and choose a rental from their supply. A day later we decided to rent a fiddle too. Four more calls later the next week, they finally answered and an employee said yes we could rent a fiddle too. I was a bit leery due to the difficulty of contacting them but decided to plan on the rentals. We got into Hanover, called the store from our Air BnB and got no answer. The next day we went to the store. The door was locked and no one answered our knocks. Their sidewalk sandwich board was folded up and leaning against the wall. We thought maybe they went to lunch. We went back a couple of more times that afternoon and nothing had changed. We also tried calling (four more times) but got no answer. The story ends with no instruments for us and no performance for our family reunion. Big thumbs down and not recommended

Not only is finding covered bridges really fun and interesting, not to mention sometimes challenging with how off the beaten path they can be, it doesn't cost one penny to drive through them and view slices of history. My husband and I love it !! My understanding is that the main bridge here (the one over the brook) was destroyed after a hurricane in 1938, although it was originally built in 1870. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. The second smaller bridge, directly on land, was built in 2001.

I was so preoccupied in fact that…read morewhile writing this review I realized I hadn't taken a single picture but I did video crossing the bridges in my car so my photos are stills pulled from the video to help show my experience. Willard Twin Covered Bridges are basically one older historic covered Bridge very close to another newer one that was built to kind of mirror the historic structure. In theory, the idea of having the two covered bridges side by side seemed cool and like something I would want to see. In reality, getting there was kind of difficult. The location isn't well marked and I had to turn around more than once. Also, when I did eventually find them, they are much shorter and smaller than I expected, especially when you compare them to many of the other covered bridges in the area. Crossing them in my vehicle was very tight and quite nerve-wracking if I'm being honest. The narrowness and the short span of the bridge made the crossing less than charming. You're also kind of in the middle of a small residential area, so I was trying to make sure not to block any driveways or be in anyone's way. They were also really visually underwhelming and just didn't have the aaah factor that a lot of the other bridges have. If I had known how small they were and how nervous I would feel driving across them and how they're kind of situated right near houses, I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to do this again. Unless you're trying to see every covered bridge in the area, I would pass on these ones.
