I'm sorry to have to give Joe's such a poor rating, but I have been treated poorly there too many…read moretimes to not say something. I have purchased many pieces of equipment at Joe's over many years ranging from inexpensive replacement parts to whole units costing thousands of dollars and after my experiences of the past couple years I will never return. A couple years ago I brought them an old snowthrower that ran but leaked gas from the carburetor. I was clear about the nature of the problem and that I wanted it fixed. I went back after some time to get the snowthrower and it still leaked gas and didn't run any better than when I dropped it off. Despite paying Joe's more than $200 the unit was just as bad as ever. They kept it and after more time told me it needed a carb. I was angry about that, but at least they put on a new carb for cost. However, they should have done that to begin with since the problem was obvious and I believe the total amount I paid exceeded what I would have paid had they simply replaced the carb in the beginning. Instead, I had to make three trips, which meant getting a trailer at least one more time than necessary. Since I don't own a trailer that in itself was an inconvenience. I eventually purchased a new Ariens snowthrower from Joe's. This is a make I will not buy again. It is a large unit with supposedly a powerful engine, but I'm not happy with it. The controls don't work all that well and I find it awkward to reach over with my right hand to adjust the chute direction on the fly. Low range is too fast and consequently the unit rides over deep snow. Buy a Honda track drive instead! Joe's delivered the new snowthrower a little over a year ago and it was supposed to be all set to use. None of the adjustments worked well despite the fact the unit was set up by one of their techs. The auger continued to turn despite the fact I had released the handle...creating a dangerous situation. Other levers slipped out of position because, again, the adjustments were not done correctly. I told Joe's right off and at first they told me I had to make the adjustments. I was appalled! I had just taken delivery of this unit and they wanted me to correct their mistakes. They did eventually take it back, but the problems with the levers for the chute deflector persisted. I fixed those myself, but I should not have had to do that. After using the unit for a while I contacted Joe's and asked them if they would take it in trade toward a Honda track drive. I communicated with the owner who wanted pics of my snowthrower. I sent the pics and his response was that I should check with sales to see if any Hondas are due in. Really??? The owner didn't know what was coming in! I checked with sales and they said two were due in but were both spoken for. Regardless, I again asked the owner if he would tell me what he would allow on my unit if he took it in trade. I never received a response. I have been treated shabbily and I am done with them. I don't like patronizing big box stores and would rather work with a small business, but not when they treat their customers like they don't matter. I have received much better treatment at big box stores.

Located just on the edge of town, this park is huge and I would have loved to hike in the back country. Unfortunately we arrived late in the day and only had enough time for a mansion tour and to take a short hike on the 'Jr Ranger Loop'. As longtime supporters of National Parks, we couldn't wait to experience it for ourselves. Entry to the park is free, though ranger-led tours of the mansion run about $9 per adult. The park's history is absolutely fascinating. It preserves the boyhood home of George Perkins Marsh, a pioneering environmental thinker whose book Man and Nature laid the foundation for conservation in the U.S. Another interesting fact: the park includes the oldest continuously managed scientific forest in the country, originally reforested by Frederick Billings as a model of sustainable forestry. We opted for a ranger-led mansion tour (worth every penny), which brought the estate's legacy of stewardship to life through beautifully preserved furnishings, art, and stories of the Marsh, Billings, and Rockefeller families. After the tour, our ranger highly recommended a scenic trail hike. It was an easy, peaceful walk that led us to a lovely lake loop - perfect for stretching our legs and soaking in nature. The trail meandered beneath shady trees and felt like a serene escape from the world. All in all, if you're curious about conservation history or just looking for a peaceful, enriching outing in woodland surroundings, this park is a gem. The blend of free admission, affordable ranger tours, compelling legacy, and gentle trails make it a memorable and meaningful stop in Woodstock.

Not only is finding covered bridges really fun and interesting, not to mention sometimes challenging with how off the beaten path they can be, it doesn't cost one penny to drive through them and view slices of history. My husband and I love it !! My understanding is that the main bridge here (the one over the brook) was destroyed after a hurricane in 1938, although it was originally built in 1870. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. The second smaller bridge, directly on land, was built in 2001.

I was so preoccupied in fact that…read morewhile writing this review I realized I hadn't taken a single picture but I did video crossing the bridges in my car so my photos are stills pulled from the video to help show my experience. Willard Twin Covered Bridges are basically one older historic covered Bridge very close to another newer one that was built to kind of mirror the historic structure. In theory, the idea of having the two covered bridges side by side seemed cool and like something I would want to see. In reality, getting there was kind of difficult. The location isn't well marked and I had to turn around more than once. Also, when I did eventually find them, they are much shorter and smaller than I expected, especially when you compare them to many of the other covered bridges in the area. Crossing them in my vehicle was very tight and quite nerve-wracking if I'm being honest. The narrowness and the short span of the bridge made the crossing less than charming. You're also kind of in the middle of a small residential area, so I was trying to make sure not to block any driveways or be in anyone's way. They were also really visually underwhelming and just didn't have the aaah factor that a lot of the other bridges have. If I had known how small they were and how nervous I would feel driving across them and how they're kind of situated right near houses, I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to do this again. Unless you're trying to see every covered bridge in the area, I would pass on these ones.
