The American Women Quarters Program is a four-year program that celebrates the accomplishments and contributions made by women of the United States. It began in 2022, and is continuing through 2025. The U.S. Mint plans to issue up to five new designs each year. The American Women Quarters feature contributions from a variety of fields, including, suffrage, civil rights, abolition, government, humanities, science, space, and the arts. The women honored are from ethnically, racially, and geographically diverse backgrounds. Here's the 2022 that have been minted: Maya Angelou - celebrated writer, performer, and social activist. Dr. Sally Ride - physicist, astronaut, educator, and first American woman in space. Wilma Mankiller - first woman elected principal chief of the Cherokee Nation. Nina Otero-Warren - a leader in New Mexico's suffrage movement and the first woman superintendent of Santa Fe public schools. Anna May Wong - first Chinese American film star in Hollywood. It took a historical event to move me in seeking a memento here. Like many recent reviews, mine is not about the physical location of the business but rather an online experience in placing and receiving an order. With the recent issuance of multiple historical women of great achievements on quarters, I was particularly interested in one that has a local and cultural significance for me being a San Francisco women of Chinese descent, Anna May Wong. I asked my local banker to help in getting some coins for a keepsake as well as to gift to friends and relatives. He was only able to secure a single quarter and he got it through the security guard there despite requests in ordering some for me. I went online and accessed the U.S. Mint's website and tried to order some but received a bounce-back message that it was not available since I was not a returning customer. It mentioned that they would notify me if it became available. A month or so later, I received an email offering the opportunity to order now. I had to place two separate orders and paying for overnight delivery on both orders because of their system would not allow everything to go on one order. The next day I logged in to confirm that they were shipped overnight as I paid, did you find that my second order was canceled. Nobody could give me a good explanation on why and even though the money was already taken from my card that I used they said that I would have to assuming another order and pay it all over again and the other charge should just drop off. I had to speak to One customer service rep and two managers and each one was telling a different story of why and how and when and who... All I can say is purchase at your own risk and when you get your coins if you're a beginner have them verified with an appraiser or a coin expert. I was told that this is the U S Mint DIRECT but the 3 people I spoke with were totally uninformed in fact they actually sounded completely uneducated by the way the responded. Zero stars !!!!!!!! This was an awful experience. Today trying to buy the 2021 morgan silver dollar. Right at the time when the ordering window opened up i had the item selected and in my baskek. Then in the middle of the transaction the server went down on usmint.gov. when i got back in the server issue cost me & was robbed of the opportunity to purchace the coin. When the server came back up 5 mins after 9, the CC morgan was sold out. I restarted the tranaction with the remaining coin avalible. Again selected the coin added it to the basket and proceeded to check out. Then mid way through the coin that i had was riped away from me when i was in the middle of the transaction. Its not fair when your one of the first on the site and the bumped out due to the incomptance of the people running the site. This place was a little hard to find good pictures of the gift shop. However, not to worry, I took plenty. Not even my tour guide knew where this was. Glad I visited. Picked up a coin album to start collecting the national park series that runs from 2010-2020. No tax, no shipping fees to deal with like internet orders. Only current year sets in stock. I returned the proof set and when I inquired how long a refund would take, I was told 2-3 weeks. Terrible. Sending out a damaged coin at a high price and taking 3 weeks after the item was received back to issue a refund. Update: No refund after two full weeks and it is impossible to reach a customer service representative. I spent 2 1/2 hours on hold in three calls without reaching a person, I called and selected the option to have a representative call me back and not lose my place in the queue and they never called me back. Some of the worst customer service I have experienced, ever. I ordered a $200 e-gift certificate, and although my credit card was charged that amount by the Mint, I never received it. After numerous phone calls, emails and a letter to HQ, I have only received follow up emails that include a gift certificate with a zero balance. I have been ripped off, but what is even worse is that the customer service reps have all been indifferent, uninterested, unresponsive and unable to fix a simple problem. We stopped at the US Mint coin store to purchase some collectable coins for our friends and it was a really great experience. There are many different items to look at and at all different price ranges. I had no idea the currency of the United States was so vast. We left with some commemorative and bundle sets. Until a few months ago, the US Mint only had a small sales counter in the front lobby. Note that there is no public tour since the Washington DC location is the administrative headquarters, not a manufacturing location. Now they have a nice new full-size shop. Not only can you view and buy the Mint's recent coin releases, but they also have original hand sculpted plaster models of past coins. I'm told they will gradually add more historical artifacts so it doubles as a small museum. This is the ultimate destination for coin fans. read more

My second purchase from the US Mint. I ordered the 2022 Silver Proof Set and a Purple heart coin. I only received the purple heart coin, but was told the entire order was delivered. The shipping box was uncompromised. There was no packing list inside. I felt lucky the customer service rep was able to refund my purchase and took my replacement order. One would like to believe the US Mint would have tighter security or even better quality assurance. Instead, I felt like they were trying to swindle me. The US Mint is a total mess when it comes to ordering an item in demand. They don't even deserve the one star your forced to give them. I wrote a letter to the Mint director in August 2014 and he wrote back agreeing that they had problems with their ordering system, but it would be fixed. We are now in 2021 and the same system problems prevail. The system crashed on 24 May, they supposedly fixed it, they didn't. More crashes happened on 3 May and today May 10. Their motto is come and have a delicious shopping experience. What a total joke that is. I can write a book on the ineptness I have experienced thru the years, maybe i will. Caveat Emptor. read more

If you return an item to the US Mint for a refund. Don't expect your refund to be processed like Amazon nor eBay or any other company for that matter. The US Mint takes 2-3 WEEKS TO PROCESS A RETURN! Customer Service is nonexistent. And talking to a live agent that has a personality and a functioning brain is also nonexistent. When asked why 2-3 weeks to process a return, the agent couldn't explain in detail, but did say that they do return inventory at the end of the month, which is something routine for the US Mint I guess. So if you're returning an item and looking for a refund from the US Mint, you might want to wait for the rapture, because that will take less time! And if you're frustrated by the lack of customer service from the US Mint agents and wish to chat with their supervisor, get this: a supervisor will give u a call back within 2-3 business days! Absolutely dissapointed... I have bought 2x $100 face value Kennedy 2020 coins in a bag. I thought at least they will be rolled and sent in a nice bag but all coins are just been lying around and scratching each other. On top of this as I live in the UK i asked them TWICE to declare the order as "collectables / Numismatic items" which carry less VAT, which they have agreed to on both ocassions, and i had to pay FULL VAT at collection.... I had made purchases from this company in the past without incident. However, I purchased a platinum coin for over $1,600 which arrived with a broken case. I returned the item and waited for the replacement to arrive. I began calling and since that time, March 2021, I have spoken to nine different agents, all of whom assured me that that case would be expedited. I have been trying to contact customer service and actually TALK to a person. I've called 6 different times and been on hold for a total of 3 hours and 53 minutes to be exact. I have also called and chose the option that was provided by the mint to have customer service call back without having to loose my place in line... NEVER get a call back. The Customer service is unacceptable! I don't care that you are busy... SO AM I!!! I can't spend hours on hold. I called the hearing impaired number and they answered immediately. I asked if "customer service" was answering phone calls? The individual said yes but you might need to hold for a little bit... why couldn't she help me??? Very frustrated at this point! BTW, I'm on hold right now ( 2hr. 28 min.) so far... As far as ordering recently offered coins, yes it sucks and household limits seem to be too high allowing the TV coin dealers to monopolize the market. But if you are lucky enough to actually get through but have question about an order... you have to go through hell to contact customer service... WTH MINT? It's harder to contact customer service than to order coins although ordering coins was difficult to say the least. Overall this whole process was/is a nightmare. The Average consumer cannot buy the 2021 Morgan and Peace dollar set from the US Mint. I tried from 12:00 Pm EST on pre-order date and could not access my account, log in or call in a pre-order for over 90 minutes and counting. The product, when I was finally allowed access, was "unavailable". The coins were already way overpriced, but now if you want them, you have to also get pounded by the dealers who are apparently sleeping with the US Mint. I ordered a few products for my granddaughters 10th birthday from the online store. The birthday card for 2018, when it arrived was the coin set for 2017. They tried to tell me I ordered incorrectly. I took photos of the website along with what the link said as I hovered over it. Both saying 2018. I also purchased America the Beautiful quarter album which arrived incorrectly assembled; when you open it all the quarter description are upside down. I have one week until my granddaughters birthday. When I called customer service the best they would suggest was for me to repurchase the two items and they would give me a $4.95 break on the $18 expedited shipping charge to get it to me on time. And then I could return the incorrect items for a refund. WHAT? This was their error and my first and last order. These items can be purchased for a little bit more through Amazon.com but at least I know they honor me and take full responsibility for their errors. I am so disappointed.
