Disappointed After Two Great Experiences…read more I've used this moving company twice before and had great service, which is why I trusted them for a third move on 6/20. Unfortunately, this time was very different. They quoted my 72-year-old mother $800 to move her 150 miles and said they'd handle everything--including the truck. But on the morning of the move, they began sending texts showing failed truck reservations. After trying multiple locations, they finally admitted at 4 PM (for an 8 AM move) that they couldn't secure a truck and offered a full refund. To avoid missing her move-out deadline, we rented a U-Haul ourselves and added the mover as an authorized driver. He agreed and said we'd work out the refund later. He moved my mom overnight, arriving at midnight and completing the move by 4 AM on 6/21. He returned the truck late, incurring additional fees. After weeks of silence, the mover issued a partial refund of $400 on 7/10, itemized as:     *    Truck fee: $75     *    Mileage: $155     *    Late return fee: $103     *    Plus $67 added for the delay in issuing the refund While I appreciate that the move was completed, the last-minute scramble, poor communication, and financial burden were deeply disappointing--especially for a 72-year-old woman who was relying on the kindness and professionalism of a business she trusted. So after receiving a call from the company on the final day of contract informing me the issue was much worse than the original inspection stated and it would cost me near another $4,000 to complete, I wrote a letter to the company. I have to say I was impressed that the owner, Rick called me and texted. When he did not hear back from me, he wrote me a letter expressing his disappointment in how everything was handled by his team and offered to complete the contract and the added work at no extra cost to me. It would all be completed for the original contract price. He was also there to supervise the entire project. Here is where he really impressed me. Before leaving we chatted a bit. We got on the subject of other house projects and I mentioned I was looking for a plumber and told him my issue. He asked to look at it and in 5-mins had resolved that issue and probably saved me several hundreds of dollars. There was no mention of a fee, of which I would not have approved, as I was unemployed at the time. SIX months later, I was still unemployed and I received a bill for $125. I spoke to a woman there to let them know I was still without work and surprised by the unauthorized bill. She was less than understanding. Two months later I finally found work and before I could pay them they turned me over for collection despite my situation, my open communication with them and the unauthorized charge. I called to make the payment, which was deducted from my account, and two weeks later the collection agency is still sending me letters. I suppose it will depend on whether or not we need to involve a lawyer and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to determine if we ever use them or not. I certainly hope their work in the field is handled better than their accounting practices. GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING!!!!!
