Dr. Melody Denson is first class. Not only as a doctor, but as a person. I've had the pleasure of coaching her son in football for a few years now and he's just as kind and caring as his mom. Dr. Denson has gone out of her way to check in on me after a couple major surgeries I had these last 2 years, not even related to her practice. She was genuinely concerned that I was recovering and healing up fast. I later got to see Dr. Denson as a patient and she quickly got my out of wack hormones fixed after diagnosing an issue and providing a remedy through a prescription and nutritional change. I feel so much better after being under her care. She is emotionally concerned about your well-being and actually listens to your concerns versus ushering you along as most doctors do. I have had 3 appointments scheduled with Urology Austin. They all 3 were cancelled by Urology Austin. Intially, they told me that they had tried to call me to tell me of the cancellations. There were no calls listed on the days they said they called from Urology Austin. I had some calls that I did not answer because I have so many spam calls from numbers that say caller ID is a city. If they called, my guess is that they had someone who worked in the office call, who used their cell phone to call me. Very unprofessional if that is what happened. I told Urology Austin that I was going to find another urologist. My first appt was mid-July, the second (the soonest I could get) was early September. The last one was Oct 8. Three months is enough time to solve this kind of problem. I spoke to my insurance company who is working with my PCP to find me another in-network urologist. I need to make sure that when I change to another doctor that my bill will be paid. read more

I was referred here last year by my GP. I wasn't impressed because the facility was aging and they were disorganized but I tolerated it because they did the job. I believe I gave them a 3 star review. Today, I needed an appointment asap for a very painful issue (almost went to urgent care last night). I called and got the usual automated system at 8am. Pressed the option to schedule an appointment. It went to hold music and no one answered for several minutes. I hung up and tried again, hoping that I could leave a VM. They don't allow you to leave VMs. Ridiculous. I called my GP and even THEY couldn't get a hold of UA. I was forced to find a new clinic. Midtown Urology answered the phone in seconds, Bianca was very helpful, and I have an appointment for later today. They use their online portal for all medical forms and stuff so I don't have to fill it out in person by hand. The disparity in quality of care is glaring. I'm never going back to Urology Austin. Genuinely the worst doctor's office I've ever been a patient at. I have had multiple experiences where I've had to call 3, 4, 5+ times to get a prescription refilled, to schedule an MRI, they say they will do something and they don't do it. I've had an appointment scheduled with my doctor where I only saw the PA because he was "running an hour behind" after I already waited in the waiting room for over an hour. Super difficult to get these folks on the phone. Nurse examining me was kinda rough with one of the boys, was sore for a few days. Place is dirty AF, there is an arm chair with dirty arm stains, nasty carpet, and the windows look like they've never been cleaned. I want a vasectomy but I canceled my appointment for the surgery. I was prepared to have to fight for the newest and most progressive treatments, but Dr. Denson was already up on those, including giving me a coupon to reduce the price of a new (and expensive) medication. So, Admittedly I'm writing this review while still angry, but I will be honest. The Doctors when you seem them are decently nice, I saw Dr. Phillip, was a generally nice person and listened well. The Bastrop office is where it went downhill very fast. I reported in for a follow up and got lab instructions. It did take me a minute to get labs done, we have to work and can't just drop things to get it done. The labs were taken in SEPTEMERBER. I never received any follow up or any phone call for results, when my prescription finally ran out in December, I reached out during the holidays, so I get things get jumbled. Heard nothing. Finally, February rolls around and I'm back to the same issues all over. So, I make a phone call complaining I've gotten nothing, and I need refills. Weeks later I get a follow up appointment, no refill mind you in the meantime. The DAY BEFORE I GET A MESSAGE SAYING MY NEW INSURANCE IS OUT OF NETWORK AND ITS 200 for a visit. THE DAY BEFORE after waiting, and I complain I still haven't gotten test results. So, they call back with results like wow-thanks. So, after I can't get help and I'm out of network and now months without medication behind me and before me to get a new Doctor?? I'd say save time avoid them and find someone that will actually be active and fighting for your health. I mean it's what we pay for and what we pay out the nose for in insurance costs. Patients shouldn't feel like a burden, we should be treated as valued and cared for, without us you wouldn't have a job. My doctor at this location is always extremely caring and understanding but the office staff my god is it really hard to not have a bad attitude... every single time I call the staff are rude as hell. I was told I am not allowed to reschedule my appointment due to an outstanding balance. I tried to get an explanation of the charges and pretty much refused to answer except finally got her to tell me one is for labs... so pretty much I have to call my insurance because it was too difficult to explain the charges on my account. They even refused to reschedule my appointment or even pay half the balance! So the front desk and billing are both rude as hell with nasty attitudes!! I'm going to look into another location or practice I shouldn't have to deal with extremely rude staff every time I come in or call! read more

Callbacks don't happen, hold times are extremely long. Surely they can find it in the budget to hire adequate staff. Dr. Varun Sanduram was terrible. I got referred off post from an army base with them doing a ct scan that showed rather large kidney stones. I come to the appointment and he's basing there's nothing wrong off of the er notes once he saw I had a previous uti. I was diagnosed with a uti and kidney stones at Darnell august 18th. I got antibiotics for the uti and believe it to be gone. For him to base there's NOTHING WRONG off of reading the notes is unprofessional. You should do imaging again to determine why I'm in a lot of pain. Update: I've left a review on Healthgrades for him, called the Texas medical board and tricare has referred me to another doctor within the same office. I'm big on patients advocating for themselves and I KNOW something is wrong. Currently I'm feeling pain in my kidneys and nauseous. Something IS wrong and I will see to it that he does right by his next patients. Because what I dealt with today was bs. You thought I was upset in the appointment well you've pissed me off now. 1-20 years ago this would be a 5 star review. But ever since they went to a call center overseas, the service is terrible unless you're able to get in to see the urologists on staff...and that's becoming an impossible task. I had a telemed visit today, and I'm extremely sick. I have a disease that has no cure and causes me to pee blood and self catheter. I lacerated my urethra 2 days before Christmas and again 10 days ago. I'm miserable. But not only did my scheduled telemed visit fall through, no one called to tell me it was canceled. Every time I call the office number now I get the call center in the Philippines. If you're able to get in to see a doctor somehow, you will get good service from phenomenal urologists...but sadly the ppl who answer the phones now don't care and simply aren't qualified to handle such severe cases. I'm not the only long term patient who feels this way and is tired of it. I'm bleeding from three places right now and cannot get any help and am becoming extremely despondent and depressed. read more

I did a RESUM with Michael McClelland at Urology Austin. It was a total failure. During the RESUM, my body was shaking but he went ahead and did 7 shots--he told me I was not helping. That caused lot of damages including blood clots. They also did not provide post-op instructions for how to take care of my catheter. I ended up visiting ER three times. 2 months after the surgery, I had LUTS symptoms and he was quick to give me antibiotics and told me that if I am not happy, I can go see another Dr. After seeing another Dr, I was told that my bladder near the prostate was damaged and the symptoms I had were related to the inflamed prostate after the surgery. 3 months later my BPH symptoms became worse. Stay away from him and Urology Austin. It's a total mess. He does not even have a basic moral standard. read more

This office was great last year and all of the sudden it went all downhill. I kept getting constant kidney stones and asked Dr. Hardeman if theres anything I could do to prevent them since I wanted to get pregnant, and I feel like I was lied to when they told me theres nothing they could do. I came in in the middle of a kidney stone attack and they didnt even take any images and sent me home and I ended up in the ER with a 12mm one. My doctor FORGOT about my tele appointment after my ER visit, and I had to wait 40 mins on hold to even ask what was going on. After surgery, I was instructed to get an xray but they never sent it to ARA. I gave up after sending a message through the portal and waiting on hold for 30 mins just to ask. I am again on the verge, after many years of going to the Urology Austin location and a doctor in south Austin just off Ben White (now Radam Lane), and--despite that history where Urology Austin has all my records--contemplating transferring to another urologist at another local clinic. Presently, I am scheduled for a PSA lab on 24Oct2024 and a followup doctor's appointment on 31Oct2024. In the meantime, I'm out of medicine (Flomax). So, my experience...? For the second consecutive occasion, 19Mar2024 and 25Jul2024, I am going to have to drive out there to cause a simple prescription reauthorization to happen, because I can't get that to happen via either their absolutely terrible online portal system or their absolutely terrible call center. The portal, today 26Jul2024, re-checking that option, showed the prescription request I sent ON 19MAR2024 to be "unread" FOUR MONTHS LATER. Yesterday, 25Jul2024, I tried the telephone option, with the Radam Lane number. It kicks you to a call center. I did the prescription reauthorization request, with a rep, and...what? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. No callback about it from the call center. No callback from the doctor's office or nurse at Radam Lane. No call from the pharmacy. My doctor at Urology Austin is fine, BUT THEIR MANAGEMENT IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Very upset about our experience. My husband had a vasectomy by Dr. Hardeman and was discharged and released without me being present to take him home after being under the influence of narcotics. He didn't have any discharge papers, no discharge instructions and his pain rx was not sent to our pharmacy, they couldn't even find it on the system. His procedure was on a Friday afternoon and the office was closed so we were just out of luck ALL weekend and he was very uncomfortable. I called to complain and get information the following Monday because he was having complications and nobody called me back. If I could give zero/negative stars for Dr. Mobley & Urology Austin I would. I ended up in the ER for a post-op infection after surgery for a prolapse bladder from Dr. Mobley. I have 90-global coverage for after surgery yet Mobley has nickel & dime'd me for every little thing - their standard in-office urine checks, getting my catheter removed the next day after surgery (that was in-addition to the surgery costs), for 2 post-op visits telling me my pain from surgery wasn't from surgery, billing me twice for surgery without even realizing I had already paid until I had to do their job for them & prove it to them. I had to insist on extra tests for my continued post-op pain before the tests showed I had gotten a UTI also from surgery. I should've been given an antibiotic and estrogen cream (since I'm breastfeeding) after surgery to prevent ALL of these infections & pain. Dr. Mobley screwed up and doesn't want to admit it was her fault. read more

Not only did she perform procedures that two other prior doctors could not improve, but she also addressed the issue in a way that got to the issue quickly. I went to see Dr. Varun Sundaram on the Jollyville road for problems that I have been dealing with for three years. I am a young women was treated with extreme disrespect. During my appointment, the nurse did an ultrasound and we made small talk and she told me that the DR would be right in. I waited almost an hour in the exam room before I stepped into the hallway to overhear Dr. Sundaram complement his staff and telling them that they could close/ leave early. When Dr. Sundaram saw me standing outside exam room 1, he looked to the nurse who was in charge of my file and asked her "Is there a patient in exam room 1?" her response was "No" while I was nodding my head yes. Finally, the nurse turns her head and remembers that I'm still waiting, and walks up to me glaring and said "Sorry." A couple moments later the doctor comes in only to interrupt, dismiss, and talk down to me in a very unprofessional and disrespectful tone. He hands me some pills with the side effects of dementia without any instructions on how or why I'm supposed to take them. My time spent with the doctor lasted no more than five minutes after being forgotten about for almost an hour. Dr Sundaram would not call me back to apologize and instead got his office assistant to call only to say that "he is too busy for this." They are inappropriate, lazy, and extremely discriminatory due to a patients age. If I didn't step into that hallway they would have closed and left me inside the building. Ha HA! Turns out, I'm NOT crazy! Well, not in this case, anyway. For the past several years, I've been dealing with some serious female issues. I've been to many doctors, and each time they've told me there's nothing wrong with me. Some have even recommended counseling for what was clearly "all in my mind". Luckily, I had an appointment with a new gyno, and she referred me to Dr. Melody Denson at The Urology Team. Never in a million years would I have thought it was connected to my bladder, but lo and behold, it was! After seeing Dr. Denson for a number of appointments and one exploratory surgery, she diagnosed me with Interstitial Cystitis, which unfortunately doesn't have a cure, but as anyone with chronic pain can tell you, just knowing what's wrong was a huge relief. Dr. Denson did a number of treatments to help the symptoms and referred me to a physical therapist, and after 6 months of treatment, I'm doing SO much better. I'm sad to see so many 1-star reviews, as every visit I've had here has been exemplary, and Dr. Denson herself is a delight. Clearly interested and compassionate, I would recommend her to anyone needing similar care. Please don't judge the entire practice based on some of the doctors having shady behavior, I can assure you Dr. Denson will treat you right. read more

I'm so sad to post this poor review, because previously I really liked Dr. Mobley. I had felt that she was attentive, smart, and genuinely interested in my care. I had seen her for BioTe hormone replacement therapy. My husband sees another doctor in this practice, and he is very happy with him. I went to Mobley because I felt a woman would be more understanding of women's issues. I had an appointment today to get HRT updates with her, after having done bloodwork a few weeks earlier. During the interim of my appointments, I developed some symptoms that were of great concern to me. When I went in today, I told her that I wanted to address these concerns before I proceeded with continued therapy. She seemed very busy, distracted, and scattered, and didn't appear very interested in discussing my concerns with me. She further seemed annoyed that our appointment course of action changed, and that she would have to do some tests for me before I proceeded. She asked me if I had seen my gynecologist, then suggested that I had an STD, (I'm married in a monogamous relationship) without any sort of examination, urine testing, or analysis. I was horrified that she would try to minimize my concerns, and not be interested in my entire well being as a patient, not just HRT therapy. After all, she's a urologist, right? She left the room, and told the assistant to get me prepped for a swab. The assistant came in and "prepped" me by having me disrobe and put my feet in the stirrups (a position ALL women really love to be in). and then left the room. After 15 minutes of lying there in this humiliating position, I got up and left. And I won't be back. read more

Extremely inefficient practice. They bill you for the office visit before they know what they're going to do in the exam room, and then bill you again for anything that was added on to the original office visit. Apparently they have time to do everything twice. Before they ever even get you to the exam room they take a urine sample. Seems like that's a way to bill insurance whether it's needed or not. Protocols are very sketchy on how the practice is run. A great example of why insurance cost are so high, when test are run before and evaluation is made. read more

If you need disability assistance, or expect any kind of a cordial customer service response, or if you value your privacy under HIPPA, go somewhere else! Highlights: Staff, including Dr. Mobley, are antagonistic, unhelpful, unfriendly, not customer focused, argumentative, and defensive instead of helpful. -When a patient asks a question about a surgery, instead of understanding the question, they attempt to give an answer (beyond skill level) so they don't have to go to the "Doctor". -If an error occurs (like a call with no response), they want to show proof that they were right, instead of just apologizing and moving on. -When an office has staff afraid of their bosses, more focused on ass covering than helpfulness, defensive and emotionally trigger-happy, plus unable to explain things like that they have systems that don't share info., means the managers are doing a poor job - Dr. Mobley. I have heard, from two other people I know, that other offices of Austin Urology are also poorly managed with rude staff Details: During my first visit, Dr. Mobley told me about the portal and how to send emails with questions. She also said nursing staff could help with calls. Each time I called with a question and someone answered, after being rude, the person who answered would get the questions wrong and then provide useless answers because the question they asked was unclear. I turned to the email option so I could use my own language. I sent a series of emails with 2-5 questions each. Dr. Mobley's first response seemed canned and useless. I thought perhaps I was not clear. I asked several follow up questions and was told by staff that it was too many questions and I had to come in. So, I did. The front desk staff was busy so I signed in and sat. Another poor woman was trying to get some billing questions answered, and the clerk started raising her voice, repeating the same rote response, and not attempting to help her at all. She gave up. They called me and handed me tablet and said fill it out. I looked at it and realized that I had already provided the information; I gave it back. She insisted I had to fill it out. I repeated myself. She said you have to; I explained that I had several disabilities that prevented me from doing that on their tablet. She wanted to argue about what disability I have (they are hidden). I said I didn't have to explain that; she needed to find a way to help. She grabbed the tablet and said, "fine". She started reading my personal information, out loud, loudly, so everyone in the waiting room could hear - yes, a HIPPA violation. I stopped her and by this time I totally lost my cool and started yelling back (which is also inappropriate). The first patient came up and told the clerk that maybe she just needed a short break since she had also been rude to her. Of course, she yelled that she fine and didn't need a break. I said I was leaving and needed a printout showing I was here in case billing sends me a bill. Then the office manager came out and took me to her office. The office manager was reasonable, clear, informative, and calmed me down. She asked if I wanted to see the doctor. I agreed, hoping the behavior would be addressed. When Dr. Mobley came into the room, she said she heard I had an altercation. I said yes, but the office manager had the info. I was there to discuss my upcoming surgery. THEN she said that she could not have me yelling at her staff (agreed) because she had a lot, lots, lots, of patients and couldn't do everything - perhaps you should quit accepting new patients; this is not my problem. She said this was the first she heard of any complaint about her staff; I made note of two separate occasions I called, with no call back, and then the person was defensive even when I said I would ignore that if she just answered my question. (Only one person on the phone later was helpful). I told The Staff directly on the phone that I felt they were not being as helpful as they could and were acting rudely; in this conversation with the doc- it became "yelling". I don't tolerate rudeness. I shared a concern about my upcoming serious surgery and recovery. She said: "this is a minor procedure for us"; how nice for you. This is not a minor procedure for me, remember the patient/customer/reason you have a job... I said I would find another doctor. read more

I have been under Dr. Hardeman's care at UA for more than 8 years and am fully satisfied with his care and attention. However, I am very critical of the management in regard to communication problem with that establishment. It is almost impossible to reach the appointment desk or a clinical staff member on the phone when needed. It seems the whole system is set up to publicize different services and procedures that they can provide and patients' needs to communicate comes of secondary importance. You wait and wait for half an hour or longer, only hearing publicity and repetition of a voice saying "sorry for inconvenience, we have high volume of calls, will be with you momentarily." And finally you give up. This is very frustrating and I am sure some patients inevitably look for somewhere else. My low grading does not reflect on my attending doctor but the administration. Hopefully, someone there will take note of my comments. read more

Like others, I also cannot recommend Dr. Loren Jones. He was the first urologist I saw when I started having urinary issues. A lot of issues are easy to treat early on but the longer it takes the treat them, the more complications you can run in to. My GP referred me to Dr Jones, after a week of waiting to see him, Dr. Jones yawned throughout our appointment, without any further testing he declared I needed to do kegel exercises to strengthen my pelvic floor, he was so confident in his gut diagnosis that he told me to do the exercises for a month and if things didn't get better come back so he could recommend a pelvic floor specialist. Things continued to get significantly worse for me (in fact kegel exercises actually aggravated my condition) and after two weeks of worsening pain I decided to get another opinion. In my journey to get better I went through multiple urologists, in that list Dr. Jones is easily the worst urologist I saw, he was the least empathetic and his advice cost me unnecessary time and pain. read more

I saw PA Danielle Manes who works under the supervision of Dr. Melody Denson. I was very hopeful for my first appointment with Danielle as my research had shown that she and Dr. Denson were the best people in town to assist with a pelvic floor condition called interstitial cystitis. Unfortunately, the experience put a bad taste in my mouth and I have sought out help at the new UT Women's Health Institute instead, which I highly recommend if you end up not having a good experience with this practice. My primary issues were: 1) Dr. Denson apparently no longer meets with patients with intersitial cystitis, she only performs procedures. Regardless of the potentially valid reasons for this, it did not help foster trust. 2) Danielle recommended an incredibly aggressive (and costly) hospital procedure despite there being far less aggressive interventions I had yet to try. 3) They never sent samples off to a lab for review. I only learned this when I discovered I had an infection after a visit to the UT Women's Health Institute. I then called Dr. Denson's office to find out why they never let me know about this infection. They told me they had failed to send off my sample to the lab. Danielle did spend a fair amount of time with me talking through treatment options. I am not sure she really listened to my personal needs or preferences. Given it was my first appointment with her, pushing an aggressive hospital treatment under general anesthesia left me with a great distrust for their motivations. I would not recommend seeing Danielle Manes for interstitial cystitis. Perhaps for other types of pelvic floor conditions that are more easily treatable you might have a better experience. She does seem quite knowledgeable. The good news is, with treatment from the UT Women's Health Institute, I am on the up and up. UPDATE: They did call me to apologize for the lab mix-up after seeing my Yelp review. I appreciate that they apologized. I still won't be going back there. read more

Dr Loren Jones and his bad ass bow tie did an amazing job with my vasectomy. I was in and out and it was almost painless. I started a conversation with him when we started the 12 minute procedure and with a bit of his dry humor and some xanax we were done. I highly recommend Dr Jones and the staff at the 620 location.
