We had been with them for 20 plus years and 4 pets…read more Because of a lack of communication and a lie on Dr. Gills side, emotions escalated over our 9 year old cat who needed dental work done. They had to perform an ultrasound to see why he seemed to have labored breathing. (We brought this up with them since we got the cat and they said he wasn't in any pain so we need not worry about it). We waited all day to hear how he made out with ultrasound. They said they called us, but we have no record on our phone that they did. At the end of the day my husband finally received a text to call. He did and we found out that they didn't do anything for his abscesses teeth because come to find out he has a herniated diaphragm!!!We were not so happy in their lack of communication. They said they called multiple times, yet we have no record of that. They have both of our phone numbers. When we went to pick up our cat, we paid for the ultrasound. I asked what we should do now because he would most definitely be in pain again and not be able to eat. We didn't get an answer so we asked to see dr. He came out in a huff, and when my husband tried to share our side he wouldn't have it and then threatened my husband. My husband did raise his voice because Dr Gill just wouldn't listen!! We left with no answers. Now 4 months later and our other cat needs her prescription food from Chewy. Chewy reached out to Dr Gill and he said we have no record of that animal!!! I guess he cares more about his pride and money then he does for our 2 cats.I tried to get answers today regarding the prescription for Chewy and I've been placed on hold and then told I will have to look into it. I asked if I would find out today and she firmly said I will look into it. Still no answers. She will be out of her food by the end of the weekend. She has severe kidney stones and gets UTI's very quickly if she eats regular food. Sad this had to happen because of a Dr and his inflated ego. Sadly I don't recommend this veterinarian at all. We will find a new veterinarian.

One of my parakeets who is not tamed was sorely in need of a claw trim as they were becoming hooked onto the cage bars when she would move around on them. As bird caretakers know, a seriously ripped claw can cause major bleeding and blood loss which can be fatal if not addressed quickly. Quarryside was the ONLY veterinarian clinic in the area who agreed to clip her claws. The others said to bring her in if she ripped a claw--AFTER it became an emergency instead of taking some preventive action. That could have been too late! I am grateful to Dr. Rothman and his wonderful staff for their understanding and quality service.

Dr Nichols uses DIRTY NEEDLES…read more My amazing vet passed away who cared for my pets for 25+ years. so I chose Dr Nichols to try for my dogs moving forward. During my first visit he lifted my 75lb lab up on to his exam table by her leash - I should have known then this was not the vet for us. He proceeded to give her spring shots & I thought I had observed him cleaning a used needle with rubbing alcohol but thought no way this couldn't be happening . Right who does this ? Second visit she needed a shot & again I observed him turn to his bottle of rubbing alcohol ,he pumped a few pumps into a cotton ball , grabbed the small vile of vaccine to which the needle was clearly stored in it , he took out the needle , rubbed it generously with alcohol , stuck it back in the vile ,drew up the med & gave my dog a shot. A shot using a dirty used not sterile needle !!! I Couldn't believe this I was shocked I called him the next day - he returned my call & I asked him "did you use a dirty needle on my dog yesterday " ? He replied " yes I use them more than once I've been doing it this way for years it's no different than poking through your dogs dirty skin & hair . I rinse them in water then with alcohol " . I'm in total disbelief at this point & I asked how do clients get a clean needle he said " well you have to request one" I repeated if we want a clean sterile new needle for our animals shots we need to request one he replied "yes" . He then asked me if there was anything wrong with my dog - I said well I've been at work all morning , I am not a Dr so I'm not entirely sure . He said " well if there's something wrong with your dog bring her back & I'll fix her for free. Oh hell no I'll never step foot in this filthy dump ever again. Shame on those working there who know this happens with every single animal & doesn't speak up - you are just as much at fault ! Speak up this is wrong WOW just wow If you take your fur babies to Nichols in Skaneateles I strongly urge you to try to find a vet that doesn't run their practice this way , one who offers clean new sterile needles for your animals . & one who cares about animals . Lord only knows what happens behind his closed doors in surgery . If your questioning my experience & are I. Just as much disbelief as I was go ahead & call him , ask him if he uses new needles for every vaccine on your animal , ask him if your baby was stuck with a used needle . Go ahead & ask him .

Took my cat here after she was attacked by a dog. She seemed OK, nothing broken, just beat up…read more Brought her back a couple days later when she didn't seem herself as they instructed me to do. Dr. Darby and his staff listened to every symptom and didn't treat me like an overly protective mom. They believe that you know your pet the best. After x-rays a hernia was discovered and repaired. She went through some tough rehab with her muscles torn and a cyst that developed and ruptured. The staff was caring and called often to let me know how she was doing. Inviting me to do visits with her, knowing that it helps your pet to know you are still around for them. Letting me come in on Sundays to visit, also helping her to feel more comfortable and eat. While this ended up being costly, I think it could have cost me a lot more somewhere else and the level of care was worth the price. Dr. Darby did all he could to keep the cost as low as possible. It has now been 4 weeks and she is completely healed and back to normal. I even called a couple times after she came home to ask about different things and they listened each time and gave me advice that worked. This is a great animal hospital that I will forever be grateful to for saving my kitty.
