Ordered on Uber Eats: Chana Masala Vegan mild, samosa chat (vegan), schezwan noodles (vegan), samosas, lemon rice My notes: - everything came with rice, so you don't need to order a side of rice - everything was ON POINT and DELICIOUS - the noodles are spicy- very tasty but spicy - mild still has a kick (as should be reasonably expected, because it's Indian food), so have water and naan on hand Fresh and tasty, well packaged for delivery. Came to Urban Tandoor for a late lunch with a friend and was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant has an upscale, modern atmosphere for an Indian spot. I didn't have a drink, but they do have a full bar, a wine room, and beer on tap. The space was clean and well kept, and the service was professional, our waiter was dressed neatly in a white button-down and dress pants. The food was excellent. Portions were just right, not too big, not too small. We both ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and garlic naan, and both were spot on. Overall, a great place for Indian food. Stopped by Urban Tandoor for an impromptu weekend dinner -- it was pretty empty there around 6pm, but while eating there were a few tables coming in and out (and lots of takeout orders, too). The restaurant is pretty spacious with lots of tables, but not very well-lit. For the two of us, we ordered the chicken tikka masala and the aloo gobi to share. The chicken tikka masala was fantastic. The chicken was very tender and so flavourful, and the rich sauce had just the right amount of spicyness (that I could handle haha). The aloo gobi was also very delicious. The potatoes were nicely cooked to a soft fluffiness, and the flavour was so well-balanced (again without being too spicy or savoury to drown out the other spices). The service was very kind and prompt -- our servers were eager to answer questions we had about the menu, speedy with bringing/refilling water, and just very friendly in all our interactions with them. Had places a to go order from here and as usual, it did not disappoint! The pick up area was in the entrance, but organized nicely on the side. My order was ready for me on the shelves and the lady was able to still add on the drinks that I forgot to order originally. The shahi paneer was delicious and very flavorful. The garlic naan had a nice amount of garlic. The shezwan rice was really tasty but pretty spicy, even though I selected the least spicy option available. It was really good though. The mango lassi was really nice and helped keep the heat down from the fried rice. The portions are generous size with enough to have leftovers. Urban Tandoor really surprised me. The Urban Goat Curry (medium) was easily the highlight -- rich, intense flavor and actually spicy. Not "American spicy," but real heat. The goat was soft and cooked through perfectly. If you like spicy food, this one is worth the trip. We also ordered the Chettinad Chicken (mild). This one had no spice at all, just the aroma of the herbs and a creamy, slightly heavy sauce. Not bad, but much milder and more monotone compared to the goat curry. I found out about Urban Tandoor from a friend who lives in Harrison. Finally got a chance to try with my friend's family for a big dinner. I called in a day before to reserve our table, was an easy process. Upon arrival we found street parking right in front of the restaurant and got to sit down at our table immediately. The restaurant was modern with a huge bar. The menu had lots of popular and exciting Indian dishes + appetizers. There were some Indo Chinese dishes as well. The menu had a lot of alcoholic beverages and cocktail as well. I of course ordered the mango lassi that was excellent, sweet and dense. Food wise everything I tried was delicious. The paya soup, samosa chaat, bhindi masala, shrimp korma, chicken tandoori, tikka masala, goat biryani, butter naan, paratha all were prepared so well with incredible flavor and spice. For dessert we ordered the gulab jamun, rasmalai and gajar halwa, again all them were so tasty. The service throughout the dinner was good. Empty plates were taken out quickly. The dishes took some time to come out, about 20 minutes between appetizers and main course, but probably because they wanted us to take our sweet time at the dinner. read more

Our server, Saurabh M, was so accommodating and friendly. He really wanted us to enjoy our dining experience, which we did. We ordered two items from the happy hour menu; Peanut Papdi Chaat and Crispy Corn Chaat. They were so so good. Even though it was Happy Hour portions, we still had plentiful leftovers. We mixed them together and got them to go. It's like a special snack mix. We had spicy edamame, Karachi Chicken and Shahi Chicken Korma. Tried the Paneer and Garlic Naans. Everything was great! Right on the main drag of Harrison, Urban Tandoor is worth the trip if you're in Newark and looking for good Indian food. The interior is intimate, and more modern than I expected. The food is very good and was reasonably priced as compared to what you would spend for similar dishes in Jersey City. Totally updating my previous review because totally changed my mind for this place. The last time I was here, I came right after a long flight, probably at the wrong time and probably too jet lagged to even think. This time, we came at the perfect day and time and really enjoyed our full experience here. This place has incredible service, even the owner was walking around to make sure everyone was ok. The ambiance was absolutely spot on. Filled with locals and also a perfect little date night spot with dimmed lights and a cool bar area. The food was incredible and this for sure is a really nice spot in the area to go to. My go-to's area always the Dal Makhani and Malai Kofta because it's hard to pick just one. The butter chicken in this restaurant is hands down some of the best I've ever had. It wasn't rich but still had a nice creamy flavor and most of all it was packed with spices. The staff is very nice, very well spoken, very quick service, and amazing service. The manager comes to you right away to introduce himself and the menu. The order was taken right away and then food comes out fairly quickly and served hot and delicious. Everything we ordered taste perfect, cooked to perfection. The tables are cleaned right after you're done eating. The wait time for anything in the process is fairly low. And you don't feel rushed at the same time. The tandoori platter was the best of all. It was a Thursday night so I expected it to be a bit busy, but it was empty even with happy hour. $5 margaritas !! Didn't mind the emptiness. Like having the place to ourselves. The chicken 65 was ordered medium and it was spicy. I am a bit sensitive when it comes to spice, but even others agreed. It was very enjoyable though. The paneer 65 dish was medium and it was not spicy at all. So a bit inconsistent with spice level. Chicken tikka tandoor sizzler was good flavor and tender chicken. Served with peppers and onions. It was nice to not be rushed so we were able to enjoy appetizers then order entrees. Mains were Hakka noodles and chicken 65 briyani. Both were OK, good flavors but I felt like something was missing. The Gulab Jamun was out of this world, the syrup was perfectly not sweet. Once we took a bit we knew immediately we needed to order another. Highly recommend. Overall I would give this place a 3.5. Flew into Newark the day before work and decided to leave my hotel for some food, looked like a lot of good choices but Urban Tandoor stuck out. After a 10 minute walk I arrived and was greeted by the manager at the door without a reservation but he was able to seat me quickly and started me off with a beer (Taj, very good lager) and some water (also good, water is a must have). While I browsed the menu (QR code) they brought me a plate of crispy bread with some sauces which were both very good. After looking at the menu for a few minutes I settled on the shrimp pataka, UT lamb curry, a side of chile garlic naan, and mango lassi. First off, the mango lassi was insanely good. it's a blended yogurt with fresh fruit that i believe they make in house, they were even able to give me a bottled one to go! Anyway... Every part of my dining experience was incredible, the shrimp pataka was a nice little starter, the chile garlic naan was soft and fresh, though the star of the show was obviously the house recipe lamb curry. I did not catch my waiter's name but he asked how spicy i wanted it, i decided to go with medium hot because i want to have a smooth day at work tomorrow lol. It was absolutely perfect, a nice thick stew consistency filled with flavor and tender lamb; over rice, it was incredible. I cant sing the praises for Urban Tandoor enough, any fan of delicious flavorful food would benefit from patronizing this restaurant, i'll definitely be back if i'm in newark/harrison again. read more

All were exceptional. We especially loved the Cauliflower Pataka so YUMMY and the Vegetable Manchurian in what they called an "explosive sauce"... I'm still thinking about and wish I had taken some home!! I'm a huge indian foodie but that appetizer was a first. The samosa chat was great but I've had that a lot and had not had the other two. We got the Paneer Tikka Masala and the Chicken Tikka Masala. Both were Perfect!!! The Vegetable Jalfrezi was on point; we all could not get enough of the Channa Sag. Loved the Bindi Masala! The only dish that was not what we usually get was the Malai Kofta balls. They were not what we are usually accustomed to yet one of the 4 in our party loved them so she took them home. The bread was amazing too!! Given only one out of all the many dishes we ordered, we were all in agreement that we will absolutely return!! (I personally have been there before and invited them.) My friends are vegetarians and they were happy to see how many vegetarian dishes they had for them to enjoy. The food here is a 10/10! I had lamb curry mild and it wasn't spicy at all so if you don't want spice they will respect that. It was so good. My date had chicken biryani and that was amazing. It was very spicy and so flavorful! The white sauce, Raita, they provide was very helpful with the spice. We also ordered samosas which were spicy and extremely good. The garlic naan was the best naan I've ever had thus far! The mango lassi was great as well! I was very happy with this place. The service was great they are very attentive and kind. I enjoyed ambiance, it was a classy place but if you are looking for a casual dinner it's suitable as well. They do serve alcohol if you're looking for a drink. The prices aren't bad either. With all we ordered it came out to around 60 dollars. It is in the downtown area so there's street meter parking which is the only downfall but we didn't have an issue getting a spot. read more

The order was for 50 guests, it is an understatement if I say the food was delicious, the food was fantabulously delicious Haleem, prawn pakora, samosa chat (live station) as appetizers, main course was authentic Hyderabadi Goat Biryani, butter chicken, paneer veg jalfrezi, naan - main course was finger licking delicious. Cons: very strange metal chairs are extremely uncomfortable. The waiters are rather weird! The owner or manger walks around is quite strange in his behavior. Service is spotty and you have to ask for things multiple times for it to arrive! I don't know if there is a language barrier or simple inattentiveness! Sometimes it's hard to find the pieces of chicken but they did a good job at offering a good proportion. It could have also been a little spicier at the medium level. The chicken 65 was on the other hand was spiced nicely. However the consistency was a little dry and rubbery. The dal tadka must be 1 of the best I've had. It was not spicy and even the kids enjoyed it with rice. We also got the corn appetizer. This was literally dry grilled corn peppered with a little curry. I was expecting more. The price is a little more expensive than I'd like. I will try other dishes here though. read more
