I fell in love with Urban Outfitters when I first saw it in the States, but the love affair is slowly dying. There are some gorgeous gorgeous outfits and accessories in the Dublin store, but they are not worth the pricetags thrust upon them. For example, I found the cutest women's dress hat here - a bit of a novelty item, not something you'd wear everyday - but a nice piece nonetheless. However at 50 euro it wasn't even open to consideration. I could go to an op shop and find a real vintage one for a fraction of the price. Whoever does the visual merchandising inside the store is an absolute genius. It's worth a trip to the Temple Bar store just to witness some of the in store artworks. I particularly like the broken furniture 'sculpture' which spans the staircase between the first and second level (pic attached, of course!) So yeah, for me Urban Outfitters has become less of a shop and more of an art gallery over the years. Can't wait to go back to the ones in the States ;-)

I used to shop and Urban Outfitters constantly. Back when I was 13, 14 years old, Urban Outfitters used to be quite cutting-edge, but as counter-culture and increasingly become culture itself, the store too has become very main stream. I don't shop there nearly as much as I used to because, now that everything they sell is popular and normal, albeit "hip" I can find it elsewhere for cheaper. Anyway, Cathal is absolutely right when he says that Urban Outfitters is all about selling a lifestyle. They want a consumer to walk into the store and find a complete outfit from skivvies to shoes, and to pick up some fun lifestyle items while they're at it. The lifestyle they're selling is presented in all aspects of the store, not only in the apparel. The visual merchandising is painstakingly designed and carried out, with usually cool and remarkable results. It's a good time just to check out the décor. Ok so yes you'll find skinny jeans, but you'll also find some lovely dresses, tops and very pretty jewelry. Their t-shirts are really nice and fit great, but they're not cheap so try to get em on sale. This is a great place for guys to shop for slim and skinny cut jeans, as they have a wider selection than a lot of other stores. Their shirts are also pretty slim cut, which is especially nice for skinny guys! The knick knacks, books and house wares are always fun to look through, and can be a great place to find a silly present for a friend. I also recommend coming here round Christmas time, as they always have really fun and interesting ornaments that you won't find anywhere else.

I really like this shop. (but I rarely buy here!) That's because all the products are so pretty to look at but I can't say the same for the price tag on the items! You can be lucky when they mark down items but general tupperwear, clothing etc are in my opinion very expensive. It's a very spacious shop, plenty of room to look around. It's a cool place,They have quite a broad range of funky products, from womens to mens clothes, , cool kitchen wear, cushions, lomo cameras, nice vinyl frames etc. A bit of everything really. All the hispsters buy from here! 10% off purchases with your student card.

The store brings a certain robust modernity to Temple Bar, that which is otherwise a focal point of more oddball, hippy goings-on.

I'm seriously shocked this place hasn't been reviewed already! I went here this weekend with a…read morefriend who has started the epic task of finding her wedding dress. Dirty Fabulous has been mentioned a few times as a place to find good vintage clothing, particularly dresses. It's upstarts in one of the georgian buildings on Baggot street, so it's a bit off the beaten track, and I suspect you have to have an appointment - well for wedding dresses you certainly do. We were taken into a room with beautiful things that girls love, but what surprised me was the range of dresses was quite small. The nature of vintage being what it is means that you do have to be lucky to be in the room at the same time as the dress you want. However I found the staff great, they do realise the nature of the search and offer to keep your details and to let you know if anything that you would like does come in. And the dresses are beautiful. You can see these really beautiful different styles from various decades - 50s, 20s, 60s etc. There's also beautiful vintage jewelry and accessories. So if you're a vintage style lover this is definitely a place for you. I do have to say that the staff here really stood out. We had a few appointments that same day and no-one gave us advice anything like the lady in Dirty Fabulous. I think my friend was very tired of mediocre dresses at this point, and she picked her up by telling her not to mind any nonsense people tell her in shops about deadlines. She gave her great advice about trying things on even if they were in the wrong colour or shape to get a better idea of what works and what doesn't. She gave us cards of other shops which might stock dresses that she might also like. She organised us bridesmaids, who were flailing about uselessly, by designating a note-taker and talking about mailing lists. And all of it was done in a gentle, understanding way which made us all warm to her, and agree we would certainly recommend the place. She said to us as we were leaving "always remember to eat between every appointment and have a glass of wine with lunch".... after a footsore day with a disappointed bride-to-be the importance of this advice really stands out in my mind!

I had clearly stated when I booked that I was looking for wedding accessories and jewellery, but as soon as she established I already had my dress she seemed annoyed I was there. When showing me selections of accessories she pushed hard to sell regardless of whether I seemed interested or comfortable which was dissimilar to most of the bridal appointments I had experienced. I'd be wary of going back again.

Sure, it is absolutely nothing like the young, trendy style that is sold in Topshop or Miss Selfridge, but the style sold at Monsoon is better. It's floaty, flirty, bohemian and beautiful. On the bottom floor they have pretty patterned tops. a lot with really cool details, and tons and tons of fancy dresses and gowns that make me wish I had an event to go to just so I could have an excuse to buy one. Upstairs they have accessories and bridal wear, which is just as pretty and hippie-esque as the downstairs stuff. But just calling it hippie doesn't do the stuff justice. Monsoon is really elegant as well. I seriously adore this place, though a major drawback is that it's mostly out of my price range :o(

Having moved to a larger space from across the street Monsoon opened this shop dedicated to clothes…read morerather than the accessories. Monsoon designers are really not afraid to take inspiration from different sources than the usual highstreet stores and genuinely have a different look and feel to other clothes. While they do a range of clothes I always think of Monsoon as a dresses shop. They have daytime summery ones as well as formal, cocktail and evening dresses. Their cuts and fabrics are generally very feminine and they delight in little details. The prices are not cheap but the quality of the clothes are quite good and when they do a sale they can sometimes knock 70% off an item. I actually lusted after a grey silk evening dress there some years ago but couldn't fork out the 250 euro for it. I got it two years later when I stumbled on it for about 50 euro. And because Monsoon are more concerned with classic style than the latest trend the clothes don't date so badly. That said they do add an element of the current trends to their clothes, they just don't lose their own style in it. Monsoon have branched out into wedding and bridesmaid dresses, which you can see upstairs and their clothes come in sizes 8 to 22.

It's been a long time since I've been left speechless in a clothes shop, but rest assured that the sight of those silvery cocktail dresses, fabulous chunky cuffs and necklaces, plus those... SHOES. Someone get me a fan, I'm having a hot flash. The shop itself is a little bit of luxury as well, from velvet draped changing booths and a rather commanding till / podium, to the sweetly complimentary lighting that makes almost everything look fabulous (I said almost, Constructed Black Mini Dress with Shoulder Pads). As of this posting the shop has put a fantastic selection of late autumn merch on sale from at least 30% off. There's a certain nude and black taffeta number, reduced to €130, that's just begging like a pet store puppy to come home with me. I'd better start calling around the family...

I walked by it lots of times and never ventured in, until lately when I realised they were everywhere - not just stand alone stores but they were being stocked in popular shopping centres like Dundrum Town Centre and Arnotts, and now in the CHQ. I went into the CHQ store and I can understand why they've become so popular - their clothes are beautiful. The store itself is a decadent boutique with lush décor and glamorous chandeliers. The clothes are quite high end - you'd be looking at in the region of €250 for a dress, but they do stock cheaper too - and they are lovely. I'd recommend this boutique for occasion wear - maybe if you were attending a wedding or going to the races.

Just a little off the beaten path along Seafort Avenue, this is the secret shop D4 dandies go to for the best of Fashion Weeks past, as previously worn by Social and Personal types. Step into the back for a look at filmier gowns and frocks, but steel thyself for the prices -there's no bargain basement prices (but you will get that Chanel blouse at half it's original sale price). My first introduction to Second Avenue was on a cold spring day a few years back; as we rounded a corner on a closed up shop I wondered if we'd gone too far. A moment later the shop front appeared, blocked in by rows of Land Rovers parked right in front of the shop window. Inside there was quiet as women fanned through beautiful silks and suits hung along the wall racks. At the centre table I fell in love with a black croc clutch that I would end up going back twice to mull over bringing home. The price tag ended the would-be romance.
