I was traveling to San Antonio for the weekend but arrived super early on Friday morning and had to…read morefind a place to work remotely for day before I could enjoy my weekend getaway. In all honesty, I boarded my airplane resigned to the fact that I would have to find a corner at a bustling coffee shop and apologize excessively to my colleagues on my calls for the background noise. However, before requesting a rideshare from the airport I thought to myself ,"Let me do a quick google search and see if I maybe there's a coworking space that I could work from for the day." Luckily I came across Pearl Cowork. I signed up for a tour of the place to start in 30 minutes, hopped into my 15 minute ride and hoped for the best. On my way there, I received an email with helpful instructions in finding the suite on the second floor. Upon arriving, the manager (Madison) greeted me and was super friendly. She said that indeed they offered day passes. She gave me a tour of the space and I felt so grateful because this had exactly what I needed (wifi, outlets, several collaborative/private spaces, and coffee). The workspace is at the Pearl which has lots of dining options for breakfast and lunch and the manager even gave me a coupon for 15% off a meal (so kind). I was worried that because I was working from a different time zone I would have to find somewhere else to work as it got later but the manager explained that while most everyone left by 5, I could stay later but would need to be mindful of the doors that do lock. I only had to stay one hour after and it wasn't a problem. Overall, this was a very positive experience and I am so glad this was where I experienced my first time at a coworking space. I would highly recommend this place to anyone that like me needs a quite place to work from for a day or for anyone looking for something more permanent.

Beacon House is a 100-year-old building nestled in the heart of the Beacon Hill neighborhood, just north of downtown San Antonio. In 2017, The Park Community Church was generously gifted this charming building and renovated it to create a multi use space that is perfect for coworking, events, meetings, or seminars. Both coworkers and event rentals have access to kitchenettes on both floors of the building, free Wi-Fi, private meeting rooms, flexible large group spaces, virtual meeting capabilities, and audio/visual equipment. Beacon House is also the home to a suite of licensed professional counselors who welcome clients in a safe, private area of the building. We understand the importance of mental health but know that seeking counseling can sometimes be cost-prohibitive. To ease this burden, we are proud to use a portion of the profits generated from coworking and event rental fees to create a scholarship fund that can be used to offset counseling costs.
