This is an AWSOME business!! They are very personable but not only that they go out of their way to help in any form necessary. My daughter has a broken coccyx and couldn't move without having excruciating pain. They have delivered on the same day for an extra charge and also went out of their way to find her a heating pad, since that is one of the items they don't carry. I am in another country and there was nobody nearby that could help. Urban Grocery called me to notify me of status of order and helped better than if there was family around. Amazing service! I was out of town for the holidays and my girlfriend was sick at home with nothing to eat in the house. I searched online and found a few places. I started placing an order with PeaPod but then realized they don't do same day. So i took a shot with Urban Grocery and it was the best choice! I called and begged to place a same day delivery and Richard was awesome! He took my order on the phone and delivered the groceries within a few hours. I also last minute added a few items I forgot, which he was also able to include. They delivered it right into the kitchen of the apartment with a holiday cheer. The personal touch and customer service is astonishing! In such a busy, large, and corporate city, it's nice to have a small business provide such a key service. I am very pleased with Urban Grocery's service. They were nice and personable when I called with questions prior to submitting my order. They even gave me a discount because it was my first time ordering. My groceries arrived on time (which was impressive because it had snowed the day before!) and they were very pleasant to deal with. I just received my first order from Urban Grocery and I am extremely impressed! The ordering process was seamless, even better than PeaPod's online system. The quality of the produce was fantastic. The website for Urban Grocery is very dated and not so user friendly. The phone number was incorrect in my profile but I could not edit it once entered. This effected my delivery- it did not arrive when scheduled. I'm not sure I will use the service again, but better late than never. It's not fast but they deliver. read more

This place was heaven sent! I HATE walking to the the bus stop with all of my reusable grocery bags, getting on the bus, doing my grocery shopping, waiting for the bus while my arms nearly fall off from the weight of my recently acquired groceries, etc. I was fed up and decided to give this place a try. I didn't regret it. Richard was very patient in walking me through my first order. For anyone hesitant about trying a grocery delivery service should be comforted in knowing that this places is very affordable. You only have to place a minimum order of $50.00 (which is what I would normally spend) and then pay a $9.00 delivery charge. In my book, $9.00 is worth not having to deal with crazies on the bus to and from the grocery store. read more

Quality grocery shopping delivered to your door! Having just moved to DC with my family, including my 5 week old son, grocery shopping seemed like such a daunting task. Then I found Urban Grocery. The website is simple and easy to navigate, and the customer service is great! I love that it's family run! Richard called me to let me know that they got my order, and even asked before substituting items. I've never been totally sold on online shopping, as I'm very picky about my meats and produce.
