I have nothing but positive things to say about my recent physical therapy sessions at this…read morefacility. First, my therapist Tom Dyke was amazing! He is a seasoned therapist who has a wealth of knowledge and experience as a PT. Moreover, his professional demeanor and friendly attitude made each of the sessions a pleasure. The facility itself is bright, spacious, and always spotlessly clean. It has a variety of equipment that allows the therapists to focus on whichever body parts need attention. All of the staff members are open and friendly. Of particular note is Luigi, the owner. He is clearly genuinely concerned that every TFI client has an excellent experience. Be sure to make a point of saying hello to him if you visit.

They reached out to me the next day, and my appointment was confirmed over the phone for 1/28 at 6:30 pm when they reached out to me. I left work early (over an hour from the North suburbs to the north side of Chicago) to make the appointment at FIT institute at 6:30 tonight and I got a call from them, around 6:15, asking if I'm running late to my appointment at 6pm... I called them back, explaining that I was on the way and my appointment was for 6:30, per my first interaction. They put me on hold for a minute and then came back and said that no, they were so sorry, but they didn't have a 'therapist on site' for an appointment starting at 6:30 tonight and would love to reschedule. No thanks.

It's a smaller gym, but I feel like if you come in with a purpose it isn't so bad. One suggestion to management perhaps would be in regards with employees and eating at the front desk. Like I mentioned before, the space is small and when employees eat, for example, Taco Bell--or anything with a heated aroma, the entire gym smells like a fast food joint. I brought my concerns about them not providing clean towels to wipe down equipment to the staff member on duty, and I was told that we can all share one towel, but don't worry, because they will wash it every day. He told me the gym was too small to provide members with towels to wipe themselves with. OK fine. But the equipment needs to be wiped down after each use, and using the same dirty towel for everyone, all day, is not accomplishing that. I've never seen another gym do this. I was a member here for a year, and every other week one of the ellipticals or stationary bikes was broken. In such a small gym, this is very inconvenient.

If you are committed to getting stronger, this is the perfect gym to join. The monthly membership…read moreis absolutely worth it for-- 1. Knowing you have your own scheduled rack and never having to wait. The space is clean and simple (no clutter, distractions, multiple floor levels, overwhelming equipment). 2. An individualized, optimized program made just for you so you never have to guess what's next. It's even adjusted on the spot according to your ability that day. (If I were responsible for selecting my own weights, I know I would not challenge myself to progressively go up due to self-doubt and safety concerns) 3. Excellent coaching. Having someone to watch your lifts, spot your bench presses, and provide feedback and encouragement. I also learned misc, unspoken things like how to load a plate, how to use the safety pins, how to wear a belt, and etiquette like not walking in front of someone's deadlift. Thank you Alex, Jon, Cordelia, Evelyn! 4. A motivating community of gymmates. There are only like 10 racks in the space, so as you go in at the same times each week, you get to see and get to know the same group of people. Everyone is training together and congratulating each other on PRs (personal records). We have also had fun socials (a beach party, a gathering at a brewery). 5. And lastly--you will actually get stronger, physically and mentally. You will exert all your effort into one lift one day, and maybe you will even fail it, but a few months later, it will become your warmup. The process is challenging and satisfying. All you have to do is show up! "The human body functions as a complete system--it works that way, and it likes to be trained that way." - Rip

AJ has an amazing build, one that clearly shows he has the knowledge I need to transform my body. AJ has risen to the challenge to continue my workouts where Teivin has left off. He is so motivating, has a warm and friendly disposition, keeps me laughing all the while getting down to business. My time with him is well spent. Workouts are varied and I am learning about all the machines/free weights that are available. He has motivated me to push myself, while at the same time keeping my training safe. He is working to make sure my limitations (bad back, wonky knee, wrist issues) are addressed and I can say I am really pleased with my results. Feeling better and looking better!! I look forward to coming to my sessions and have added more sessions to continue my health journey. AJ has helped me physically but also mentally believe in myself. I always leave the gym feeling I learned something new, pushed myself, all the while having fun. AJ is such a part of my success and I am glad to call LA Fitness my gym. Thank you Teivin for finding such an excellent trainer to hire.
