It's now been going on 6 years or more of working out with Sarah at DMSFit. I actually moved out of Chicago about 2 years ago and still continue to workout with Sarah virtually - that's how good she is. Sarah has been such an incredible person in my weight loss journey. She's empathetic, kind, funny and I love knowing that no matter what issue I'm facing (pain, period, exhausted from work, etc), Sarah will always tailor my workouts to how I'm feeling, but challenge me. She's helped me have a great relationship with working out - it doesn't feel like a chore and always look forward to our 2 sessions a week. It's hard finding a gym or trainer with so many options, but I'm so glad I found this place!! read more

Starting off 2022 in good spirits after one of the hardest years of my life. In 2021 I lost my father, a close friend and fought an illness with my wife during her first pregnancy. Thanking God for DMS! David, you not only helped me loose 24 pounds, but encouraged me to change my diet, manage my stress, and even made me laugh during my weekly sessions to take the pressure off. I am beyond grateful for the help and support I was offered at DMSFit_chicago. I could not have gone through so many challenges without them by my side. DMSfit - Trainers Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

My fiancée and I passed through Chicago this summer and were fortunate enough to find DMSfit. David and Sarah were so welcoming and accommodated us for four weeks of personal training sessions. We both work from home and were thrilled by the flexibility that DMSfit offered. The studio was very clean, both trainers were patient and encouraging, and we walked away knowing we'll absolutely be back on our next trip to Chicago. This place is truly an Irving Park gem. read more

I hate working out. That being said, when I found myself in a position where a. I was the heaviest I'd ever been and b. I'd need to lift heavy luggage on a regular basis, I knew I needed help. I started working out here on a regular basis with David, who is a wonderful trainer. He clearly has a lot of experience working with non-fitness types because he's super conscientious about the way he approaches lifting, nutrition and weight loss. He works with you to determine what your goals are and give you tips and advice for the time spent outside of the gym. It's a warm and comfortable place where I never feel self-conscious. Give them a try! Prices are reasonable and their schedule is accommodating. read more

I highly recommend DMS Fit! David and Sarah are amazing trainers and genuinely nice people. They are both very knowledgeable when it comes to personal training and nutrition. David has tailored my workouts to accommodate my level of fitness (very out of shape) and modifies each exercise according to any injuries I might have. When I had to take some time off due to an illness, he texted me regularly to check in and see how I was doing and to let me know once I was ready to get back at it, he'd be ready for me. I have worked with many trainers over the years, and David and Sarah are hands down the best. read more

I started going to David about two months ago after seeing a woman walking down the street as I drove by. I'm a guy... I discreetly checked her out. As I got closer I was little shocked to see it was a long time friend. She looked great. I almost didn't recognize her. Later she told me she'd been going to David. In the midst of some weight loss myself I decided to give him a call. I've been very happy with him and his training program since the free consultation. He is certified and reasonably priced. He has a full, well maintained gym on site (treadmill, recumbent, squat rack, cable plate machine, kettle bells, plate sled, etc, etc, etc) and uses all of it to create a tailored but varied routine. He focuses on strength, balance and endurance with many range of motion and core group exercises I wouldn't have ever tried had I just joined a gym and started throwing weight around. He has also been very willing to work around an injury I have and his research is in accord with the advice given to me by my doctor on specific limitations as to not re-injure myself. He works his training into my larger exercise program since I want to work out more often than I can afford one on one training. He has a lot of ideas regarding nutrition and diet which he is willing to share without proselytizing which is nice. As I get into better shape I'm taking baby steps and don't need it all rammed down my throat at once. He also listens to my feedback and adjusts the program accordingly. He's knowledgeable, easy going (no screaming in your face) and creates a personalized program that builds on itself. I've seen great results already and can't recommend him strongly enough. read more

I've been training with Dave since January 2019. I joined seeking to increase strength, lose weight & improve overall health. Nearly 7 months later, I have achieved all that & more. I've gained knowledge, improved self esteem & a passion for living a healthy lifestyle, which I attribute to Dave's commitment to my well being. He will develop a program based on my goals & adjust accordingly if I have an injury or pain. Dave & his partner, Sarah, provide a fun & welcoming environment. The rates are reasonable & they do their best to accommodate schedules. They are not only experienced trainers but, overall, great people. read more

I can't say more about David. I love working out with him. I started going to him early last year after spending the previous 8 months going through chemo and steroid treatments for Lupus. Through that process I gained a staggering 80lbs and on a 5'4" frame that was not cute. David went above and beyond, taking the time to learn about Lupus and recommended some things that he though would help in a more holistic way, but never pressuring me to do or try anything . Being the stubborn person that I am I was kind of resistant and didn't heed all of his suggestions but working out three days a week I began feeling better. The weight started coming off and I began to try his "life style" changes. I will tell you that it was not fun or easy for those first few months but it has defiantly been worth it. So far I have lost about 70lbs and have gone from a size 18 to a 10. I am completely off meds and now in remission and I owe a lot of that to getting physically health which I never could of done with out him. I have hit a bit of a plateau on these last 15lbs but every time I see David he pushes me just a little more. He changed some of the workouts even tweaked the diet. No two workouts are ever the same and he does a lot with body leverage which for me is really important because of lupus. He as also incorporated Running yoga, free weight in to almost every work out in some capacity, I have never felt so strong and I look so much more toned then I did even when I weighted less. Even with an injury he has never once gone easy on me but works around the injury while still working out the area. I would recommend David and do all the time. He is affordable and his gym is really more of a fitness studio clean and well kept (thanks to Lisa). It is a place that I have never felt intimidated working out at. I like David as a person and have really come to consider his a friend. If you are looking for fun and affordable training in Chicago this is the place to go. read more

DMSfit is great, David is an expert trainer who uses sophisticated and effective programs to make workouts get results and be really enjoyable. David is flexible and willing work around your schedule and make sure you keep improving. Most importantly is that he cares. Really cares, and truly is enthusiastic about your fitness growth. I have never thought about a personal trainer before, and assumed that having been an athlete that all I needed was motivation. I know now that a knowledgeable trainer can get results that I could never have gotten on my own. David is currently building up a huge clientele with his in-home fitness gym, but don't let that fool you, he is a pro level trainer, and the nicest guy you will ever meet. I have been a client of David's for a few months now and honestly I think he's amazing. I have had numerous trainer's throughout my adult life and no one can even come close to David. His knowledge and passion for health and fitness is truly inspiring. He and I train a few times per week and the results are definitely paying off. It is so reassuring working out with someone who is very cognizant of any preexisting issues or injuries you may have. . . The last thing David would ever want to do is injure you. He's constantly taking notes and tracking my progress. He also happens to be one of the nicest people you'll ever meet and I'm so thankful to have met him. Also, I truly appreciate the fact that he walks me to my car after every session. Seriously, check him out....just don't take my time slot:) read more

I could not love this place more. I came in as someone wanting to be healthy and fit, but I've never been one to go to the gym or lift weights... now I love it and I'm on a fixed schedule. I could never go back! David and Sarah are incredible trainers. Knowledgeable, will answer any questions you have, very inviting and friendly. You're not going to be judged here. I also love training here; you get so much more out of a personalized experience and you don't have to share space with a bunch of people. Also, you're always doing really interesting exercises tailored to your specific needs and body type. I am so happy I found this place! Pricing is also very reasonable. read more

I recently started training with DMSFit's newest instructor Sarah. Wow! I couldn't be more thrilled. She brings such passion and knowledge for physical fitness inside and outside of our sessions. She's also the instructor for DMSFit's Saturday Bootcamp classes. She constantly changes the exercises, and is great at catering to the individuals in the class. So often in group settings you don't feel like you're getting the attention from the instructor. With Sarah she is constantly on her feet and helping folks with form, and leveling the routines up or down. read more

I've been training with Sarah and David weekly for months now and I can't speak highly enough of their professionalism, friendliness, and knowledge. It's clear they love what they do. I went to them after my previous personal trainer left my gym and I hit a plateau on my own. They listened to what I wanted, challenge me in my training while still keeping in mind my injuries. They helped me with my diet choices. We have fun and I've hit many milestones. I can run longer, lift heavier, and have dropped almost 10 pounds. I feel like a better person. Thanks DMS team! read more

I worked out with David for about a month before I moved out of Chicago. He kept my workouts fun and was extremely encouraging and helpful with creating an easy to follow diet for me to follow. I really enjoyed working out with David and wish I still lived close by so I could continue training with him. I'd definitely recommend David to anyone looking for a trainer!!!! read more

I have had one of the best weeks at work and I owe it to Dave! In one day I had 4 different people and then the next day 2 more people, comment on how I look great and keep up the good work!!! I have been working with Dave for a few months now and as I mentioned above it has really paid off! I saw DMS Fit listed on Craigslist a few years ago when he had a different studio location, but I never made the jump to email and then commit. Then one night, I was at the bar across the street (Templestowe) and saw that he had opened up a new studio location. I told the people I was with that, I no longer had an excuse. The studio was too close to my place and I was too fed up with how I looked. I got on his website www.dmsfit.com and contacted him for a personal training session. The last few months have been great. He has taught me how to eat better. I was eating whole foods and not processed foods but I was eating the foods in the wrong combinations. He also has a great workout planned for me every week. He motivates me and keeps me on track. With his training and knowledge so far I am close to dropping 30 pounds! This is something I have tried to do on my own for years and it hasn't clicked. I totally would recommend him to anyone. Definitely check him out! read more

I've been working with Sarah for long enough now that I've purchased my second 12 pack of classes and will purchase more. I always leave my sessions with Sarah feeling like I've gotten a killer work out, in the best way. She is fantastic with my chaotic schedule, patient, fun and kind. While I haven't been trained by David, he is equally as endearing as Sarah is and I wouldn't hesitate to train with him either. This is the best quality training for your dollars in the Chicago-land area! read more

I can't say enough great things about David. I found him for my boyfriend and ended up going to him myself. I decided I needed a trainer after the Chicago 10 ( similar to the freshman 15) happened to me. He has been a great help in getting my body back into shape and I have not looked this good in years. He is knowledgeable about all levels of fitness and all you have to do is tell him what your goals are and he will come up with a program to target those areas. You can really tell that he loves his job and he makes me excited to workout-which an achievement since I am not a morning person. He has even become one of my best friends in Chicago. If you are even thinking about getting in shape he is the person you should go to-don't wait. You will be happy that you called. read more

David's AWESOME! Very knowledgeable about nutrition as well as all things workout related. Sarah's cool too. I'm so very glad I found this place some years ago. read more

David is an amazing trainer! I started exercising later than most do, due to a heart condition. I was diagnosed, put on medication and given the green light by my Cardiologist to exercise at 46 years old. David was patient, kind, and his level of expertise is very impressive. I felt welcome and comfortable from the first day. It took time and lots of patience from David working with me but my body has transformed for the better and despite battling a couple of rare nervous system disorders and fibromyalgia I have been achieving goals I never thought possible. I have also trained with Sarah who is so kind and so good at personal training. I am so grateful I have found David and Sarah and DMS Fit. My quality of life and my strength and endurance in the last two years is truly a blessing. This place is welcoming, and accepting of all people and they are truly gifted in what they do for every one of their clients. They give so much of their time, patience, expertise, and energy and anyone that trains with them is lucky. Thank you David and Sarah you are running an amazing Business. Your hard work and dedication is admirable, but more importantly you are amazing people who touch and change lives for the better and that is the best gift you can give anyone. read more

Great and affordable personal training option for those who are looking to get motivated to get in shape. Dave, the owner and one of the trainers, really helped me to feel strong and ready to workout after a difficult pregnancy and a c-section. He was extremely accommodating to my ever changing nursing schedule, was very supportive of my attempts to loose weight and, in general, made me want to get back into working out again. He also offers free cardio time on his machines at the gym. I am definitely going back to him in a couple months! read more

I've been training with Sarah at DMSFit since November and it has really been a positive impact on many areas of my life. I never enjoyed working out until meeting Sarah, her passion and excitement for health is contagious. The workouts are challenging, in fact, I would never believe I could do half of what she thinks and knows that I can! It's been fun and rewarding. Plus, the bootcamp class Sarah teaches on Saturday is great, you should definitely check it out! read more

Just over 5 months ago I was feeling sluggish, chubby, tired and unmotivated. My 40th birthday was around the corner and I was 5' 10" & a whooping 191 lbs. I needed to be held accountable. Then I found David on Craigslist & today I turned 40 and I'm proud to say I weighed in at 164lbs!!!! I've been going to David twice a week and never felt like it was a chore or something to dread, just the opposite , excited and eager. He motivates me, changes it up every time and is encouraging. His rates are perfect, his availability is perfect and he makes me want to push myself to the max. Yes, I did some work myself and yes I've improved my eating habits, but it's all because of David and DMSfit. He actually makes me want to workout & I look forward to it! These days I have much more energy, I'm sleeping much better, I need a new wardrobe !!! I'm happier . Basically what I'm saying is that if you live in the Chicagoland area and you are looking to improve your life, inside & out, make a call to David, you won't regret the day you do. I'm addicted, read more

This review is long, long overdue. I've been with DMSfit instructor Sarah for 1.5 years. Sarah is the *perfect* instructor. She is very in tune with what I can handle, how far to push me without causing injury, and makes every workout interesting. Sarah has gradually made the workouts more difficult. I am considerably stronger and have more stamina. I really like the equipment at DMSfit - it's the right mix of free weights and machines (rowing, stairs, ladder, treadmill). If I could go 7 days a week I would. Thank you DMSfit and Sarah for bringing exercise back into my life and something I actually look forward to. read more

I have been working with David since end of January, I really can't say enough good things about him. He is knowledgeable, kind, cares for you as a person and your health and knows how to keep the workouts fun and challenging. He loves what he does and it shows. I can see some pretty great results after working out with David, definitely something I would not not have been able to accomplish by myself at some boring, run on the mill gym. read more

DMSfit is great and I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a really good work out. My husband and I are on our 4th week of training with David and Sarah and are very happy. I had a great experience with David. You can tell this guy really enjoys what he does and is passionate about it. I have had decent personal trainers before. However my past personal trainer would sometimes play with his phone while I was working out and he was not very good at answering a lot of my questions. Not David. David gives you all of his attention while working out, and he pays careful attention to your form the whole time. He also will give you very specific and detailed information regarding your food intake in relation to your workout goals. As soon as I told him what I wanted to achieve with weight loss, he emailed me a detailed list of how I should be eating. I was in the Navy before, and at first felt like he was not pushing me hard enough. However to my surprise, I began to see results immediately. Which to me just proves to me that he knows what he is doing. My boyfriend also started seeing David, but for the opposite reasons, in order to gain weight and muscle. We both saw results and were happy with him as a personal trainer. This is a much better experience than getting a trainer at your local gym. His prices are more reasonable and you will not feel like a number. We will be returning to him very soon. Overall he is very nice and personable and I highly recommend him. read more

LIke others have already said, David/DMS FIt is really great. As I was getting close to a significant birthday, and realized that I was huffin' and puffin' going up more than a flight of stairs, I decided it was time to do something - and that something was going to have be getting some professional help getting in shape. I have been working with DMSfit for a few months now, and while I can only make it once a week, I have seen serious improvements (like no huffing and puffing). As my crazy schedule has moved my times I can get there to various times of the day during the week, I have met some of his other clients, and one thing that really impresses me is that David works with a lot of different people - all shapes, all ages, all levels of fitness. As someone who does not have a gym body, and is not a spring chicken, I feel comfortable going there - and, it seems, so do the young 'uns with the gym bods and everyone in between! This was my first time working with a personal trainer, and it was (IS!) completely worth it, all because I found a great trainer on my first try. If you are hesitating, not sure if it's right for you - go fo it, meet David, and take that first step in changing you, and your life. read more

I started working out with David in late June of this year. I had all but given up on losing weight. I began disliking the way I looked and after numerous fails with other trainers and workout programs, I decided that it couldn't hurt to try one last time. If I could find a phrase to describe David, it would be "MIRACLE WORKER." David made working out fun for me. Even on days, when we went hard I appreciated the sweat that ran down my forehead. Working out with David became something I looked forward to. No routine is ever the same and all workouts are customized for each individual. Not only does David talk the talk, he walks the walk. He doesn't just tell me something and expect me to believe it; he actually backs up his statements with proven facts. I bought a dress a year ago and due to my weight gain was never able to wear it. After working with David for 2 months, I was able to not only wear my dress, but I had a little bit of extra room in it. I have no one to thank but David for the way I look and feel. No better trainer out there!!!! read more

First: David is almost certainly the most gracious and thoughtful person you'll ever meet. Second but equal: David is a fantastic and dedicated trainer. He listens to your goals and tailors your workouts accordingly. He is meticulous about form, teaching you along the way about how to improve on your own time and within your own limits. He will never make you feel that you haven't done enough or that you're a long way from where you should be; he meets you where you are and inspires you incrementally to up your ante as you define it. I've been training with David for about six months, and while the sessions don't feel super intense they yield results and teach you how to sustain strength training and avoid injury in the long term, whether with him, at a gym, or on your own. Most importantly, David instructs his clients on fundamentals of fitness and nutrition and offers practical and constructive feedback to incorporate into workouts at the gym or home. Since I started training with David, I've surprised myself with my willingness to challenge my preconceived notions of my limits. And his rates are incredibly reasonable. Very lucky to found DMSfit! read more

5 stars doesn't even do David justice - both as a personal trainer and a fantastic person. I started working out with him in February to get myself in shape for my move out to Los Angeles this month. I didn't necessarily need to lose weight but I was looking for someone who would help me strenghten my core and tone and tighten my body. I found David on Yelp and decided to give it a shot. I arrived at his home where he has his workout facility in the basement. It's not a fancy environment so if you are looking for eucalyptus towels and a steam room this is not for you. It was just perfect for me. I personally would rather pay an extremely reasonable rate for a top notch training session and go to the spa for those things. First and foremost, David happens to be one of the nicest and most sincere people I have ever met. He takes the time to gain an understanding of your goals, asks about any injuries and truly customizes the workout for you as an individual. He truly takes an interest in your overall well being and is thoughtful and helpful in every way. David is also a wealth of knowledge when it comes to good nutrution. In such a short period of time I noticed a big difference in not only my body, but my eating habits. I have worked out with trainers in the past and I remember dreading the workout sessions at times. I would be beat up by the end. But, working with David was the complete opposite. I looked forward to every session with him and felt stronger walking out then I did walking in. We always had great conversation along with a great workout. I was in the midst of a relocation and times were very stressful. David always was in tune to me in terms of my emotional and physical state and customized the workout perfectly each time. I have some back issues from time and he was careful to always make sure I was not in pain or injuring it further. I love that amazing roller stick gadget he has - feels so good on sore muscles. I had to change my appt. times due to my travel schedule and David was also flexible to work with me. He is also a complete gentleman. He walks his female clients out to their cars and always tells you to "Be Safe". Guys - take a lesson from David. I am now in California and I SO miss my workouts with David. I have not yet found a trainer so I asked him if he would be so kind to send me a few notes so I could do some excercises on my own. He actually made me a personalized video workout routine and put it on a diskdrive and sent it UPS. Pretty amazing huh! Honestly, if you are on the fence about choosing a trainer please contact David. You will not be sorry!!! read more
