In the online shopping age, you place faith in things you cannot see. You establish trust based on…read morethe things you order being delivered timely and whole. It works for all kinds of things; off the rack clothes, protein powder, US Government debt, drawings of apes (remember those?), you name it, you can buy it. Let me tell you one very important purchase where there is no room for online shopping faith: golf clubs. Listen, I'm your typical high handicapper. I'm talking... very high. Like Whitney Houston high. So when I'm shopping for irons and a golf club manufacturer talks about AI Smoke or dual tungsten weighting, I'm going to be honest with you. I don't know -- nor do I care -- what the f-- they're talking about. All I know is, if it feels good, like I could swing it 150 times over the course of 36 holes and yes, you read that number and did your math correctly, then yes. Those are the clubs I need. Now I'm a fairly big dude, and unfortunately this makes my need to get fitted for proper clubs even more serious. Us big fellas will take a standard length club and perform Olympic level swing-nastics to protect our back. We will most likely fail and have our back screaming at us while we see our score reach Palm Desert afternoon temperature levels. So, for me, the most important thing when it comes to picking a set of irons is comfort and feel. If I'm going to be swinging this a lot, at least make sure it feels good doing it. Omer knew this right away. He's dealt with tall people, I'm sure he's dealt with smaller people and everything in between. And he was quick, deliberate and no BS in his recommendations. He saw my swing and then picked out a few great clubs. He explained taller folks with long wrist-to-floors need clubs that extend well before they leave the factory and in the mfg process -- not just aftermarket extensions. I appreciated that bit of advice and his clear explanations in the lengthening process and how it differed from manufacturer to manufacturer. He didn't speak AI Smoke-up-my-ass-anese. He gave me practical bits like "this might create a weak point in the club and break your shaft on a bad swing." He explained it realistically looking out for me, the high-handicapper. And here's the thing -- did I have to pay $150 and schedule an appointment with Omer to know this? No I did not. You know exactly what I'm talking about guys. Of all the things I knew I wasn't doing, I wasn't about to pay $150 and schedule an appointment to be pitched to and upsold. Here I am at Roger Dunn completely for free. Omer dropping truth bombs on what I need and keeping it simple. No passing judgment, no snobby upsell tactics, just straight knowledge and work. I appreciated him a lot. Also shoutout to Lawrence in shoes, who let me try on a few pairs and was super helpful helping me find the shoes I'd want. Finally, thanks David at the front. The morning crew today took me in and were super helpful. The team here is great and have an approach that's welcoming even for a total golf schmuck like me. I'm glad this is my local Roger Dunn, and my neighbors you should be, too.

I went to purchase a new set of irons and was surprised that they didn't have them in stock. The sales associate said he would call around to find them. He said he found a set and when I went to pick them up five days later they were used! The manager offered no apology and said he could take ten percent off of the price. He also said that I couldn't even order a new set. While still at the counter I found and purchased the set from an online store. They should be delivered to my house in two days.

My experience at UGP With Jubal. He is the best. Still speechless…read more Jubal: what brings you in today? Me: I haven't hit a fairway with my driver since 1999. I played last week at Pebble beach and had to quit after the first hole because I ducked hooked all my balls in the woods. Please help Jubal: okay. Let me see you hit a few. Me: (thwack ... boom.... curse word, curse word, slam driver into the ground). Do you have another ball? Jubal: I've never seen a person lose a ball in a golf simulator. I am glad you came. I can fix your driver yips. (Tinker tinker screw screw). Try this club. Aim a little left and swing along your feet. Me: okay. ( thwack ... boom ... curse word, curse word, slam driver into the ground). Jubal: Uhhhh?! What was wrong with that? You hit that 350 with a 2 yard fade. Me: That is my routine. After I hit driver, I turn around say the four letter word in both adverb and verb form and slam the club into the ground. Jubal: well, after you hit the shot, you don't have to do that anymore. Me: What's a fade? Jubal: It's when the ball starts left and gently goes right and hits the fairway. Me: Wow. I have never seen that before. What kind of shaft and club head is this? Jubal. The shaft is made out of unicorn hair and the club head is made out of adamantium. Me: Really? Jubal: here at ugp we have the latest tech to help you play better at affordable prices. Hit another one. Me: ( thwack ... boom ... curse word, curse word, slam driver into the ground). Jubal: You hit that 360 dead straight. You don't have to curse and slam the club into the ground anymore. Me: Oh. My bad I forgot. Wow. You fixed it. I am speechless. Jubal: You're welcome. I am glad I can help. Me: What's a fade again? Jubal: Have fun. I am happy you stopped by. Me: Wow. Thank you.

I've been chasing this glorious, maddening game for decades--a self-taught 12-handicap with maybe…read morefive lessons to my name, most of them long buried under sunburns and bad beer. I've never been one for the shiny gadgets or swing-tracking sorcery, and I only replace clubs when they start to look like survivors from a past war. So when I walked into True Spec Golf in Beverly Hills, I carried no expectations--just an open mind and a faint hope of hitting it higher and farther without sacrificing my soul to the gods of carbon fiber. Then came Simon Lee--a quiet craftsman of focus and precision. He didn't sell; he studied. He watched my swing like a codebreaker deciphering chaos, pairing heads and shafts with the calm of a surgeon and the curiosity of a mad scientist. Under the cold glow of TrackMan data, he translated spin rates and launch angles into a language I could understand, free of marketing gospel and tech babble. By the end, I was floored. Two of my old clubs? "Keep them," he said--"they're perfect." That kind of honesty is as rare as a hole-in-one in a hurricane. He even tossed in a few simple, lethal swing tips that changed everything. When my new clubs arrived and I had questions, he invited me back, explained, and fine-tuned--never rushed, never transactional, just a man obsessed with getting it right. Yes, True Spec is an investment--but a worthy one. You don't walk out a different golfer; you walk out the truest version of yourself, armed with tools built perfectly for your own brand of madness. The new gear won't cure my crooked swing or tame my tempo demons, but it's given me a fair fight. Six stars, without hesitation. I'd do it all again tomorrow.

Simon is incredibly knowledgeable and clearly knows exactly what he's doing. He took the time to walk me through the entire process step by step, testing different shafts and heads to find the combination that truly worked best for my swing. What stood out the most was how honest and patient he was. At no point did I feel like he was trying to sell me something or rush the process. Instead, he focused on finding what actually worked. Even though he's the expert, he constantly asked for my feedback--how each club felt, what I was seeing in the numbers, and what I preferred. That made the fitting feel very collaborative and personalized. If you're even thinking about getting fit for clubs, I highly recommend seeing Simon. Whether you know exactly what you're looking for or have no idea where to start, he'll guide you through everything and make sure you walk away with the right setup for your game. Huge thanks to Simon for the time, effort, and care he put into the fitting. I truly appreciate it.

I have to admit that I was pretty nervous about being an ultra beginner in a male dominated sport. On the first call, Bobby reassured me I picked the right place, and that turned out to be the understatement of the year (and it's only March). Bobby is an incredible instructor who has taught me so much, and genuinely cares about my progression and growth. I have become addicted to the process because of him. Casey is as passionate of an owner as they come, and builds real relationships with people. If you're lucky enough to get 5 minutes with him you will be hanging on every word of his expertise! I am so grateful that I chose this place. They couldn't get rid of me now if they tried. THANK YOU Wired Golf!!

For years I had a nasty slice that would pull my ball roughly 40 yards which Casey was able to fix within one or two lessons. As our lessons progressed, I began hitting all of my shots straighter with better accuracy and gained a significant amount of distance on all my clubs. This led to me immediately scoring lower and making the game more fun as I went from a 30+ handicap to shooting in the 80s. Casey was patient with me during every lesson and always gave me something to work on or try when I would practice by myself. For someone that was a beginner like me, he kept things simple and gave me little things to think about that eventually led to my swing dramatically changing and improving. If you want to get better at golf I strongly recommend going to Casey. You won't be disappointed!
