Coulsdons best kept secret. Lovely hearty breakfasts. Perfect for hungover Saturday mornings.

The interior is just like the demeanor of the staff: warm, likeable, and feels like home. In fact, it was incredibly difficult to determine where we wanted to dine, because of the sheer cuteness found in the decor and ambiance of The Grumpy Mole. It was just too damn nice outside to take a beautiful, sunny day in England for granted. So, we opted to sit on their patio and enjoy a near perfect day. Knowing how delicious the curry is in the UK, I opted for that choice and my high expectations were met. The chicken was tender and well prepared. The curry flavor was abound but not overpowering, while the naan and rice were soft, not stale. But the real highlight of the experience was the charcuterie plate packed with meats, cheeses, olives, and more. If only I had the fortune to return to England more often, then I would visit The Grumpy Mole on every visit. For now, I will dream of that day and hope it is on a cold, winters night, where the interior of the Grumpy Mole is cozy and warmed by a crackling fire place, of which I am sitting by while sipping on a piping mug of cider.

They have a Costa express machine and a big twinnings tea range. They have teapots, jugs for milk and sugars, sweeteners etc, everything you need. We have tested the unlimited option and drank hot drinks all day on several occasions and have never had any issues. The food is good value as they offer a daytime set menu 12-6pm Monday to Friday two mains £10.99 and two starters/desserts£2.50 which has enough choice considering the price. They also offer a buffet for £7.49/7.99/9.99 which has a different theme daily. Great for a quick, cheap lunch or dinner. They also buffet breakfast although I have never tried it. They do a good value kids menu which is £3.99 for a main and you can add starters or puds for 75p. The food is what you would expect from a pub chain, nothing fancy but good value and generous portions. I have tried the buffet a few times, on the curry day and fish and chip day and I wasn't disappointed although I would advise you get there around the time they serve it at 5pm as it can get quite busy. The curry buffet was tasty for pub grub and the fish and chips nice but a little on the greasy side. The meals on the main menu I have enjoyed more, especially the new vegetarian option of sweet potato and feta lasagna....very moorish. The service is slow and often you need to send out a search party to locate the staff who often disappear! If you order food, tables take awhile to be cleared even when it isn't very busy, however the staff are friendly and polite. The location provides a free car park, woth disabled access, inside it is spacious and with lots of tables, the toilets are clean and they have a separate disabled toilet too. I would recommend for a quick, cheap meals and causal drinks.
