Urban Eats is home to several different restaurants and cuisine under one roof. Great concept and collaborative business model. Sort of like a mini food court at a mall, but much better. You order at the counter of your choice, and they bring the food to you. We went with the Greek station and all was good, except my burger. I had requested well done, and it was medium at best. Proprietor came by to check on us, and offered to remake it; but we were on a time crunch and couldn't wait. He insisted on refunding the meal, which was much appreciated. Fries, salad, and spanakopita were excellent. A lovely lady, I believe her name was Sonya was busy cleaning and refreshing tables.

This review will be more specific to "Beignet All Day". To start, I never knew Urban Eats existed (I've definitely been living under a rock!). It is such a cute mini food hall that I will definitely be visiting again. "Beignet All Day" was located down a short hall nearer to the back of the facility. Julie - the owner's sister - was super helpful with our decision making. They had a variety of beignets with topping options, served in batches of three. The prices were definitely reasonable for the portion. Served fresh and with a smile. I will definitely be back!

Small cafe with a tiny menu (only about 2 items for breakfast and ~5 for lunch), a bar, and a work space that you can rent out. The inside is incredibly bare, with just 4 tables and a couch. I got their breakfast wrap with bacon and a strawberry-banana smoothie, and both were pretty tasty. The best was the sauce that came with the wrap. It was delicious. Although the food was great, I don't see mud self coming here again because of the environment. If they can update the space however, this place would be a gem

Just go ahead and bring your second belly. There are four places inside here as of now. A taco place, Jamaican, dessert and I forgot the other one. The service is very good! Everyone is super nice. This place is pretty far from my house but I would make the extra trip because I know I won't be disappointed! Do yourself a favor and just go!

This is such a cute and inviting cafe located in the Dutchtown neighborhood of St Louis! I came here with girlfriends for one of their sponsored art brunch Sundays. For these events they have local artists at the location selling and displaying their art work. This was a really nice twist to the regular cafe vibe and I enjoyed looking at the different pieces on display. For the art brunch Sunday Urban Eats was offering a number of small bites. For ordering you either help yourself to the buffet options or choose from their carts when they come around. You are given a sheet to mark off when you get a new item and then bring it to the register when you are done. I went with the self serve coffee, Thai noddle salad, boa pork bun, and bread pudding. The Thai noddles were covered in a sauce that was both sweet and tangy then topped with sesame seeds and green onions. The boa bun was of course my favorite! It was warm and fluffy, filled with tender pork. The bread pudding was good but could have used some sauce drizzled on top. Overall Urban Eats is a really nice spot to grab brunch or just come relax with a cup of coffee.

The combinations at this place are endless. So many gluten free options as well. I was avoiding dairy when I went here the other day, but craving a cappuccino, so the girl at the counter suggested I substitute almond milk. So good, I'll never go back to regular milk in my coffee! The Asian salmon bowl was also delicious. Super reasonable prices as well. I'm dying to try their dim sum style brunch, but turns out it isn't every Sunday, so I'll have to wait.

Decided to try a second time, a different meal, and I really enjoyed it! I ordered a Asian salmon rice bowl to-go with a cappuccino (yes, I know it's a weird combo but me needed caffeine and dairy). The food was fresh & the flavors on par with some of the best comfort food I've ever eaten. Two things gets Urban Eats 4/5 stars (I really want to give full stars, it's a super fun space & the food is good!) but alas. For to-go, I waited twenty minutes for the bowl and another five for my capp. Not terrible but since I was one of four people getting food (and three had already been served), the wait felt almost awkward. The girl at the counter was super kind though! Secondly, in the photo you'll notice a scribbled bubble- that was the salmon. It was a wee wee bit of salmon. That made me sad. But it tasted yummy! Pros: great flavor, fresh & healthy meal. Fun, light & artsy space. Friendly & inviting staff. My meal was less than $13!

Urban Eats lives in a great great space for lunches, meetings and group get togethers. It is very bright and open with lots of different seating areas. The one thing that would make this a great destination for me and probably lots of others would be free wifi. They might have it but when I was there today I didn't see anything pop up on my phone to connect to.. I got the Italian veggie wrap, and it was really good! The main ingrediant was eggplant which could have easily turned out horribly, but the consistency and taste was just right. I tried to save half of it for dinner but I couldn't help myself. I also got a side of zesty lemon chicken and rice soup which is even better, but I'm saving that for dinner. The chicken in it is very good quality. I'm interested in coming back to try the smoothies, maybe even get a boozie and maybe come back another time for some coffee drinks. They also have happy hour prices on craft beers and appetizers (which also sound unique and yummy). That said, wifi would make it much easier to come back to! **If you live within biking distance, it's a super cute location to ride to and get a treat and visit some of the other shops and businesses nearby! Oh, that makes me think of a list I could make :)

Décor: It's nice and spacious, although some parts are just oddly put together (the sections don't flow altogether, in my opinion). But once you sit down and enjoy your company, it doesn't matter so much. Service: Quite good, quite casual. Food: I got the Mediterranean Salmon as a Panini- I didn't think it was really worth it. It was alright, but not anything I'd come back for. My friend also thought his sandwich was okay. For dessert, we got the bread pudding and I was quite disappointed by it. It didn't even taste good and the texture was off. And it was expensive for the portion size! Overall: I don't find this place to be of excellent value, and this place is really far from me, so I wouldn't really be coming back.

OK so I was trekking on my hot rod 2 wheeler (Schwinn) the other day and found myself out of steam in not the best 'hood as far as stopping on the sidewalk/street whilst alone. I spotted this cozy corner rest area and parked it. Good idea, Al....why - thank you! First - the set up is pretty rad. Plenty of space and types of seating to cater to your butt needs. Local artwork on the walls that you can actually purchase if you so desire. Electrical outlets for your technology needs and in my case...battery vampire phone. I also am going to go out on a limb and assume they have Wifi. I needed protein and got an overdose. They have two of my all-time favorite things on the menu - a peanut butter & banana smoothie w/soy AND bacon wrapped dates..Wha-what? Now before I get ahead of myself - I opted out on the dates that day, but I will surely be back to give them a go in the near future. I actually ordered the cheese quesadilla because I was looking for protein in a snack-based form. It was quite delish, cheesy, and took care of my dietary needs. The sauce was zingy as well - a nice additive if you choose to dip those tips. I also enjoyed a delightful iced latte with espresso (added) and caramel, which certainly recharged my energy cells. The peeps...they were so very informative and helpful. I had a chat with a nice gal about the big biking event going down in Dutchtown in May and a brief history of past events - MoPro...look it up and enjoy. The sweet gal that actually took my order was very helpful considering I had never dined at Urban before and had no clue what to order. She actually hand made my super awesome PB & banana smoothie. I felt the love. She also informed me of their Sunday Brunch - dim sum style, which I was very intrigued by and intend to experience in the near future. Always looking for new and exciting brunch adventures on the weekends. Overall - I really dig this place. I intend on coming back so I can explore there other dining options AND get some of those bacon wrapped dates....and another PB & banana smoothie, of course!

Wanted to eat something light, so decided to drop in at this shop we just happened to pass by. The lady fixing my chicken wrap was friendly and the place reminded me of a dinner slash chic sandwich shop. Oh boy was I amazed when I starting eating my food. I let my boyfriend taste but I was not willing to share because it was that good. Even went back Monday but they were closed.

Very yummy and inexpensive. Had the Italian Veggie Rice bowl and an O'fallon IPA. My companion had the Salmon Panin and the soup special, which was veggie potato, and really enjoyed it. The best part of the menu is the fact that you get to mix and match ingredients, so the possibilities are endless. We splint a cinnamon banana smoothie for dessert. There was a group using the space for a meeting, looks great for that as well! Support your local neighborhood food joints! read more

This place has some of the best food in Dutchtown! Their space is comfy and cozy, and I really need to get there more then I do. Attached to them they also have a local art gallery that is always full of amazing local art work! You can also hire them to cater events for you. They made the food for a small birthday party I had, the food was so good is was gone before I really got to have some myself! Also - they host a boardgame night once a month. I have never been able to make it, but I am gonna make it one of these days! read more

This is just a great little place. The owner really cares for her customers, and it extremely passionate about her shop. I went in, ordered 2 lattes, and oatmeal, and enjoyed the works of local artist, Craig Downs who was live in the shop that day. The owner gave me a free choice of dessert, muffin, or any other bakery item in the shop. Amazing little place, with a lot going on, that I will definitely be returning to. read more
"Wanna try Urban Eats around 11:30? It's their first day serving brunch!" the text from my pal and new roommate Whitney read this morning. I've been wanting to try Urban Eats for awhile now, it's certainly been on my radar. The chance to test out a brand new brunch spot was more then enough to get me to make the trip from Clayton to Dutchtown.* First of all, Urban Eats is adorable! It's cozy, without being crowded or chaotic, and offers a variety of seating options from sofas to high tops. The women behind the counter was incredibly friendly too. While it could easily slide into the "hippie" category, its fresh posters and graphics give the place a modern feel without sterile at all. While waiting for Whitney, I sipped on a soy latte and read the NY Times Book Review (most of the Sunday paper was lying about the bar seating along the east windows). Once Whitney arrived, I had the pleasure of meeting both artist Susan Wiegand of the amazing Scientific Underwear and Urban Eats owner Chaya, as well as their realtor friend Mary. To patronize a place where the owner sits and chats for awhile makes my day! The new breakfast items are all bagel or wrap sandwiches that come with your choice of juice and an exclusively bagel sandwich. Susan recommended this one, which is egg, spinach, bacon, cheese, and chipotle sauce on a cinnamon raisin bagel. I can hear you now, dear reader: "Cinnamon RAISIN bagel?!?" While Whitney eschewed this arrangement and got hers on an Everything bagel, I can vouch--with great pleasure--for this sweet, oddball choice. The cinnamon and raisin add a delightful burst of sweetness in this smokey, spicy mix. Alas, it was time to go, but I am excited to return for rice bowls, small bites, wine, and art shows! I am also going to investigate Urban Eats catering; their range of choices would please any crowd. *This will not be the case soon, as I am in the process moving to the Shaw neighborhood as we speak! read more

I really wanted to like this place. I've tried it many times but I'm just going to give up. Every time I go they're out of something (no matter what time I come in), don't know what they have, take forever to make my food/drink and the food is bland and not good. Last time I went I got a Peanut Butter Banana smoothy. I asked if they had skim milk and the girl working said, "Yes, is 2% ok?" No, it's not ok, that's why I asked for skim. She then told me they also had yogurt. I asked if it was fat free. She said no but the other girl working said yes. Then another woman working told me they never carry skim milk but that they have soy milk they make themselves, but then the other girls told me they were out. I just gave up and told them to make it however they normally do. It was the most watery flavorless smoothy I've ever had. It just tasted like watery milk. A complete waste of $4. I gave this place so many chances but it always let me down. I won't be returning. read more

Hi Kassie-…
So sad my second time eating here was nothing like the first. Sandwich was bland and the vibe was the same. I felt like I was one of the herd at the school cafeteria. I like being thanked for spending my time and money at a place, not made to feel like I'm asking someone to go out of there way to make me some lunch. Don't just exchange food for money, be elated someone chose your place! Sara B says 'NO!' when I say everyone is entitled to an off day...but it was an off day at Urban Eats. read more

I like Urban Eats. I'll go there again; you go there too. Visiting St. Louis (to see an opera) and found price-competitive BnB in the low-profile Dutchtown South neighborhood. The closest place to grab a bite was Urban Eats (just a few steps away!) and it became my de jure living room for the few days I was there. Urban East offers a selection of Panini, wraps, rice bowls and flatbread pizzas. They have vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. My Panini were all fine; the ingredients all fresh and tasty. They also have a breakfast menu (which I did not have an opportunity to sample). And of course they have coffee. The espresso and americano were both very good, and they also offer latte, cappuccino, chai, etc. as you might expect. Urban Eats is a coffee shop with a menu (and a liquor license!); essentially a place to hang out. And it is a very good place to hang out indeed. Urban Eats is large and airy, well lit and clean. The large windows face south and east and, daytime, it's full of natural light. Free Wi-Fi. There are lots of chairs and tables and couches in varying configurations. The person working intently on their lap top on one side will not be bothered by the six boisterous friends eating lunch at the other. There are spots for community meetings, one-on-one conversations, and a hushed tete a tete. There's even a formal conference room you can use free of charge! (Reserve the room online.) And it's big enough to handle all this activity at once without seeming overcrowded. My favorite perch is the front window, near the corner, where I can keep watch on the 40 and 73 bus stops and the action at Winklemann drug store (the first family owned pharmacy I've stumbled onto in about 20 years). I also liked the east facing windows, near the counter, where I can enjoy the "Bless This Mess" sign in the window of the building across Virginia Ave. Urban Eats is located in the visually stimulating, soon to be up and coming Dutchtown South neighborhood. There's handsome architecture, and some of the best thrift and resale shops I've seen. There are a fair number of boarded up store fronts, but no derelict buildings. The neighborhood is quiet, clean and safe and residents take care of their homes and gardens. Happily, Dutchtown South is not yet overrun with hipsters or MBA's. It's a very nice place. Not a lot of close-by competition, but Urban Eats would have stood out anyway. As I said before, I like it - you go there! read more

I normally order Mediterranean food from another restaurant, but decided to give Urban Eat's chicken Mediterranean rice bowl a try. The portion size was great, but I had approx. 5 pieces of chicken in the bowl, 3 spinach leaves/other toppings and hardly any sauce. Therefore it was mostly dry rice... The rice had great flavor but I was expecting more than a bowl of rice. My colleague ordered the same but the Asian style, and her's looked worse. I also wasn't expecting the serving size for the Naan wedges and dip to be so small. It was $5, and we bought it to share. There were only a few pieces of bread, and the dip comes in a 3 oz cup (aka a small condiment cup). Definitely not shareable. I would try it again if the food was made better next time, but likely will go back to regularly ordering from my other go-to. read more

After living just around the corner for almost three years, I finally tried Urban Eats. Man, have I been missing out! I got the Southwestern turkey wrap and it totally satisfied my desire for a turkey wrap. I wasn't expecting the rice inside, but it was tasty, nonetheless. The atmosphere is light and friendly, and I'll definitely be headed back there. Especially since it's just a block away! read more

I first ran into the idea of Urban Eats Cafe & Bakery while talking to Freddy Friction at Fred's Six Feet Under. When asked what I did, "dumpster diving for art and creating unique pieces based on the waste of others", I was told to go to Urban Eats Cafe and speak with the owner about displaying my art. Life happens quickly and people become busy. In short, it took two years from that encounter for me to enter the comforting cafe located at 3301 Meramec in the Dutchtown neighborhood, corner of Meramec and Virginia. I'd really been missing out! The menu, a tasteful variety of food blends, with every refreshment available. My meal, a melt-in your mouth Mediterranean flatbread pizza, vegetarian style (constructed with homemade eggplant caponata spread), paired with a glass of Trinity Oaks Pinot Noir (they plant a tree with each bottle purchase). For dessert, ambrosial bread pudding, topped with plumped cranberries, southern whiskey sauce, whipped cream, and a latticed piece of chocolate to boot. With these plentiful portions it's really dining for two at the price of one. Hungry yet? After savoring each ounce of my fare, I pulled out my laptop to snag more scoop on this niche nook. I was doubly surprised to find the heartfelt efforts put forth by it's owners Caya and John. It's easy to see from visiting their website, http://www.urbaneatscafe.com , that this is more than just a spot to eat. There is a true sense of urban revival and camaraderie brought to you through exceptionally flavor filled foods, new and continuing, outreach programs, and a staff that interacts with its customers like family. By the way, for all you coffee addicts, there are several options. My favorite is the bottomless cup of a maple syrup infusion and since this slice of heaven is also a fully functioning bar, there are numerous spirits to add kick to your cup. I encourage everyone to visit this cafe, ask for Caya or John, they're friendly and love feedback. If they're not available, feel free to speak with the well informed supportive staff. When you do, write about your experience and spread the word. Small businesses require strong voices! read more

Nice little hipster place. Lots of interesting artwork on the walls upon which to look; tables and chairs are a carefully grouped to look shabby sheik. It's a clean and well kept space. As a first time customer, I found the menu confusing, and opted for on their fast bites options - a cheese quesidilla which was very good, made with fresh ingredients on the spot. The staff are very pleasant, albeit a little slow moving. If you aren't in a hurry, and want some good fresh food in a relaxing, interesting atmosphere, try this place out. I'll visit again if I'm in the area. read more

If you live in or near Dutchtown, you probably already know this place. If you don't live in or near Dutchtown, drive there and eat here immediately. This is amazing food. I mean, completely amazing. I have yet to have anything here that isn't totally and completely amazing actually. There are a ton (and I mean a TON) of veggie and vegan options. There are not a lot of really vegan friendly restaurants in St. Louis, so I am always happy to find places that will cater to my friends that have forgone cheese and eggs. The paninis are amazing. I mean, totally and completely amazing. I am hooked on these things. Also, the entire atmosphere at this place is divine. It is relaxing and upbeat and just a great place to hang out. Get lunch, get breakfast, get brunch, get coffee, read a book and hang out. No matter, you will enjoy your time here. This is one of the best additions to this neighborhood and hopefully not the last great restaurant to plop itself down here. read more

My friend took me here the other day, as it has become one of her favorite places to eat out. I can see why. Urban Eats does healthy scrumptious eating right. As you walk in you are enveloped with wonderful scents of yeast, meats and more, leaving your stomach screaming for some of their food. The set up of the menu is really to my liking. You can choose panini, wrap or flatbread pizza with listings about what is in it, you then decide what you want in it: chicken, veggies and the like. There are many options, and all of them are good options. I got a wrap with herbed tomatoes with the chicken breast. This is one of the best wraps that I have ever eaten, hands down. I cannot wait to bring my husband here, he is going to love it as will all of you! read more

I recently organized a trivia night for the nonprofit Invest STL at Urban Eats. Having a trivia night at UE was extremely easy since we had access to the staff, full kitchen and the bar. Caya, the co-owner was very easy to work with and she accommodated our needs and made the event run smoothly. We offered apps and a drink with our ticket price and guest were also able to order beer and food from the full menu. It worked out well because we were able to raise funds and she was able to bring in business as well. There are various spaces availabe including a loft event space upstairs for larger events. The quality of food, atmosphere and service were great. I couldn't ask for more! read more

I chose Urban Eats for a vendor Lunch and Learn and it truly made the event! Everyone was thrilled with the delicious food (and the presentation of the food--complete with fresh flowers and eco-friendly packaging). This place "runs" the monopoly snack bar at the Carondelet swimming pool, and does an absolutely TERRIBLE job. They are closed as often as not (the snack bar at the pool, just closed, oh well...), and when you are lucky enough to find them open, they are out of 1/2 the menu items. Management capabilities and concern for customers are clearly lacking at this place. read more

This place is a gem in Dutchtown. It's a great place to grab a bite to eat or a coffee after shopping at the resale shops across the street (Twice Blessed or Re-Fabulous) or after getting some crafty supplies at the Upcycle Exchange. They offer so many healthy, tasty alternatives, and the owners are very active in the community. My particular favorites are the Goat Cheese Flatbread, the Potstickers, and the Southwest Chicken Wrap. They have a nice beer and wine selection, and now that they have expanded, it's a great place to meet up with friends or have an informal business meeting. Free wi-fi is always a plus! = -) Lesley M. read more

Approximately two and a half years ago, I moved to St. Louis. I packed up my bags, moved into a little apartment in Brentwood, and started my first Big Girl Job. For a few weeks, I'm pretty sure that the only thing I ate was Bread Co and Qdoba... because I didn't know which way was up in this city. Luckily, as time went on, I met several people who knew the city like the backs of their hands... and I was thankful to be introduced to some wonderful little eateries around town. One of those eateries in particular was a little place called Urban Eats in South St. Louis. Urban Eats is a casual but cool (dare I say, hipster) eatery that serves a few tasty and healthy foods with an ethnic twist. The menu may be small, but it is full of locally grown treats that you can specialize to fit your own desires. It's actually pretty neat, you pick a "flavor" [i.e. Southwest, Asian, etc], an "ingredient" [i.e. turkey, chicken, veggie], then a "style" [i.e. wrap, rice bowl, panini], and viola! you've got a tasty meal. What a simple, but smart menu! Just a few items that you can turn into several delightful meals. During my most recent trip I ordered a Southwest turkey wrap and my friend Rachel ordered an Asian chicken rice bowl. My southwest wrap had a roasted garlic mayo and chipotle ranch flavoring, while Rachel's asian bowl had a teriyaki and honey mustard chili sauce. Both were delicious. While the main ingredients change, there are a few staple items in each Urban Eats menu item that truly make them unique, yummy, and filling! Every item contains brown rice, caramelized onions (yummmm), baby spinach, and basil tomatoes. These items are super fresh and delicious. In addition to the quick and delicious food, Urban Eats is also pretty cheap, which is awesome. My Southwest wrap and Diet Dr. Pepper was only $6 in all-what more can you ask for?! Oh, I know what else you can ask for... a super cool atmosphere. This establishment calls itself "urban" eats for a reason. The eatery is swanky and sophisticated; plus, it's in the middle of a very urban area-which I think is pretty neat, because they are actually bringing some good business to a, shall we say, less traveled part of town. And, they must be doing well because they recently expanded! Good for you, Urban Eats, good for you! I think this only proves that good things come to good people-why do I say that? Because Urban Eats has a fabulous giving program associated with their business. Giving back to the community is the cool thing to do, remember that. All in all, give this little place a try next time you are looking for a cheap, quick meal that doesn't involve greasy fast food. You'll love it for sure! Happy eating! read more

I live in Dutchtown. Our restaurant choices are limited at best. I would LOVE to make Urban Eats my go-to food stop as they have the market cornered. Our first experience was okay, definitely not a value for money if you order the panini. My next 2 attempts were completely inconsistent. I went back for a thing I enjoyed-- coffee ice cubes. Didn't have them. I had a wrap & it was good but I really had to be guided into the right flavor choices by the girl working the counter. This seemed like something she had to do often. Beware the breakfast sandwich as is comes on a cinnamon-raisin bagel which tastes terrible. Not much flavor to speak of when the helpful-but-apologetic counter staff remade my sandwich. Their hours are also odd enough that I wouldn't be able to frequent their establishment as much as I would like even if I were a fan of their menu. I've heard through the grapevine that someone that has to do with Urban Eats has kept out other food options like Jimmy Johns from the neighborhood. We desperately need more food options for the neighborhood to grow & keeping out an establishment like that for the sake of your own confused business is just a rotten thing to do. read more

I went and ordered food for take-out. I ordered a flat bread pizza and a piece of quiche. Things just didn't seem to go well. First, the quiche came out in a plastic container ready to go before the young lady had even started making, much less cooking, my pizza. Upon making mention of this, the girl told me that she would keep my quiche warm. Finally, my pizza was ready and I went home. Arriving home, I discovered that the bottom of the plastic container had melted into my quiche. (Inedible at this point.) I called and spoke with the owner and was told that I would be receiving compensation via email. Well, much to my dismay, the email never arrived! This truly is a shame since I had such high hopes for this establishment. read more

This week my friend Emily and I had a coffee date, and she was more than excited to introduce me to a new spot. And as a resident of the Tower Grove neighborhood, I usually don't venture far from the many coffee options we have in the area. Urban Eats Cafe was a perfect setting for our conversation on community, the arts, and the future of St. Louis. This establishment supports local non-profits, offers conference room for next to nothing, has its own gallery showing local artists, and has plenty of information on the Dutchtown neighborhood and area non-profits as soon as you walk in. The decor is slick and urbane, but still incredibly comfortable. The service is very friendly. Community, decor, hospitality, all these elements combined make you feel as if you have been transported to Portland or Seattle. The food is phenomenal, good for you, and incredibly cheap. Other than fast food restaurants, I can't think of anyplace in St. Louis where you can get a sandwich for under $5. That's right, FIVE DOLLARS. I can't wait to go back. read more

If ONLY we could stay in St. Louis longer...I would've seriously tried all the combinations possible of wraps, sandwiches, flatbread, and rice bowls!! The place is legit as well as delish! We flew in to St. Louis Friday evening and were famished. Luckily, Urban Eats came to the rescue! Hit the spot. A balanced blend of healthiness without compromising taste. Ingredients were fresh. The meal was light, but surprisingly filling! :) Customer service was great. This place definitely deserves a stop over if ever you are in the St. Louis area. The fact that they charge incredibly reasonable prices adds a cherry on top. I ordered a southwest chicken wrap while the hubs got the Mediterranean turkey flat bread. Would also recommend the salmon Mediterranean wrap, which I ordered the day after. We even ordered a wrap the night before to take along with us on the airport back to Cali. Caya and John, owners of Urban Eats, are great. Love their concept. Appreciate their work and efforts to highlight the beauty of this neighborhood. Awesome space. Would definitely return! read more

I first heard about this place at a yelp event so when there was a google offer I jumped at the chance but of course it took ne a whole year to make it here to use it. I walked the dog three miles on a nice day to have lunch and boy was it worth it. they were so very nice and helpful even when my dog barked like a mad man while I went in to order. they even brought it out to me to help limit his distress. then I bit into my wrap and the long walk was definitely worth it. read more

This is really the perfect cafe. It's what every neighborhood in St Louis would love to have. It is a fantastic addition to an area that now has nearly perfect complementary restaurants: light, informal, creative Urban Eats, and the more formal Feasting Fox, which features traditional German fare. It's very exciting to see the thought and effort that has clearly gone into every detail at Urban Eats: as other reviewers have noted, it is a comfortable, sleek and clean atmosphere. The menu was meticulously planned, not only for freshness and excellent flavor but for a simple, streamlined experience. When one orders, the "theme" (Southwest, Asian, etc) is chosen, then the main ingredient (chicken, salmon, turkey, veggie), then the style: wrap, bowl, panini. The ingredients are fresh and are seasoned extremely well-not overly salty or bland. The sides are yummy: the Asian slaw is great. There are bakery choices; I've tried the cream cheese stuffed giant muffins and the bread pudding. The pudding is well-flavored. Given the attention to detail at Urban Eats, the muffins surprised me a bit: they seemed very similar to the ones I've bought at a national warehouse chain. Last night, I tried a Boozie-an alcoholic smoothie-and the flavor was incredible. I'm a smoothie fan, but I've truly never had one like this. I had a choice of a "Blarney Boozie or Shamrock Smoothie (the virgin version)." They have other, non-seasonal flavors, but I think I might beg them to keep these year-round. I woke up this morning wanting another one! The eatery itself is very friendly-free wi-fi, gallery space, warm woods and authentic finishes. There is nothing fake or misrepresented here: it's proud to be what you see, and in this, it embodies perfectly the straighforward tone of Dutchtown. I particularly love the old area pictures on the walls. The owners are completely invested in the neighborhood, to an extent that should be an example to other business owners that pull up the sidewalk at 5 and drive home. I hope we'll be visting Urban Eats for many years to come. And I hope they keep the Shamrock Smoothies year-round! read more

Urban Eats is the best kept secret in South St. Louis! All of their dishes are made with the freshest ingredients and home-made sauces. I HIGHLY recommend the White Chili, it is the bomb....and I don't normally even like White ChIli! read more

5 stars for wonderful, fresh food. Locally roasted coffee. Local beer. Relaxed atmosphere. Wonderful food specials. Super arts and entertainment events. Incredible support for the local community. Anyone & everyone is welcome here whether from near or far, formally dressed or ready to paint the building across the street. One of the best all around establishments we have in St. Louis. From clean restrooms to great service they won't let you down! A true gem on the south-side and absolutely worth a visit. read more
When my friends and I first walked into the restaurant we were greeted by a man playing the piano and singing. We were then approached by a pleasant woman who provided us with an explanation of the menu; you are able to pick a meat, sauce/veggies, and style. I ended up picking a rice bowl with chicken and the Mediterranean option. It was absolutely delicious. There was also a full bar. The only reason that I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 was that it was a little cold. A place like this should be warm and toasty, but I had to keep my winter jacket on the entire time. read more

We are from out of town. Stopped by this place with all the good reviews and it looks like fresh, healthy options. However, we were disappointed that on Sunday's they only offer a specific brunch menu and were unable to order anything from the regular menu. read more

We had my daughter's John Burroughs School graduation party here the day after Thanksgiving when all of her friends were home for the 1st time since going off to college. This was planned only 1 week in advance. There were about 45-50 people attending. Working with Caya, on short notice, was a delight and very easy! Everyone raved about the food. A majority of the attendees were vegetarian/vegan and the selection, was substantial and delicious. I was allowed to bring my own cake, my daughter's favorite. The employees working the event were a joy and helpful without being intrusive. The space allowed parents, who missed seeing one another as well, to hang together and chat while also being able to enjoy our children being together. Families could relax a day after Tgiving and play games and talk over on the couches. The availability of Pandora/IPOD music made background entertainment simple and with personal preferences included. The opportunity for a charitable donation to the school scholarship fund was a bonus. We had a cash bar that met our needs. A few UE regulars stopped by and walked in at the beginning - not realizing it was a private party. Caya invited them back at another time. All in all a wonderful experience even with last minute planning. read more
Urban Eats is a comfortable coffee house and cafe located on Meramec (just east of Grand) in the Dutchtown neighborhood. They are just a wee bit off the beaten track, but worth the trip. They have fresh fast food at extraordinarily low prices. You have the option of choosing from a fresh array of toppings on flatbread, panini, or wrap. They also have salads, quiche, coffees, soups & smoothies. I had a delicious chicken panini and is was only $4.65 with tax. They have wi-fi and comfy sofas, as well as, a hi-top counter with stools (for those of us who are dining solo). They also have a free conference room with wi-fi that can be reserved online. Give this one a try! read more

We really enjoyed having our wedding rehearsal dinner at Urban Eats cafe. It offered a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere that allowed us to mix and mingle with our guests. Caya ran with our idea for an Asian food theme and created a delicious Thai-inspired menu and a green tea cocktail. The space was simply but beautifully decorated, and the background music Caya chose was great! The staff were very professional and courteous. We loved using our wedding rehearsal dinner as an opportunity to support a great local St. Louis business. read more

I LOVE Urban Eats! This place is everything a restaurant should be- the atmosphere is warm and inviting, has lots of natural light and best of all, showcases local artists. The food is wonderful! Everything they serve is fresh, healthy, and delicious. I think I could live off the Asian slaw! If that's not your thing, go with one of their flatbreads, lots of options and they are all wonderful!!! read more

Very nice place to enjoy a coffee and conversation with local friends. I meet up with some girlfriends occasionally and we are never disappointed. It's not too loud we can't hear each other, but not too quiet as to be announcing our conversation to the entire place. read more
