One star is too much for this god-awful place! CUSTOMERS BEWARE! I am writing this review because I care about animals, and I care about people, as well. THIS PLACE IS AWFUL FOR BOTH.
Here are a few things you should know about this place....
Urban Dogg is UNSANITARY, and a DANGEROUS environment to animals. If there were any kind of health code regulations for places like this, Urban Dogg would be SHUT DOWN. However, there isn't, so let me inform you so you can make your own decision. After each bath, an employee sprays the tubs with a disinfectant solution, that is so watered down, it has no effect. The employees do not read the directions on how to dilute the solution properly, with the correct water ratio, and the owner uses as little as possible to SAVE MONEY. Because "disinfectant is too expensive". After spraying 5 spritzes into the tub, they immediately rinse it out. Which defeats its purpose. The directions state that in order to achieve disinfecting benefits, you must spray the entire surface, and let sit for ten minutes. This means that if the dog that used the tub before you is sick, with anything, ranging from influenza, mange to Parvo-Virus or Distemper, your dog is at high risk, even if vaccinated, since that kind of exposure is extreme & confined. The same goes for the kennels, except those are even worse. They are not cleaned and sanitized after each use, each dog, as they should be. They aren't even cleaned regularly. They take one dog out, and throw the next dog in the same kennel. At best, they may put a clean towel in with the dog. (which, btw, the owner didn't even want to put towels in the kennels for the dogs to lay on, since it meant she had to spend more money on laundry detergent, water bills, and electricity, but was forced to since the dogs kept getting their paws/nails stuck in the grates) She did not care that it was CRUEL, and cold for a wet dog to lay on a metal grate. The towels are washed on cold, in dollar store detergent. Dogs urinate & defecate on these towels, and the groomers use the towels to express anal glands. So, they are not washed with bleach or disinfectant, in hot water, because that would cost more money. And this next bit may be the most disturbing; The owner will take any dog that comes through the doors. Regardless of vaccination status, or if the dog clearly has a skin disorder that resembles mange. I have seen numerous dogs on the grooming table that were suffering from mange,(I have a veterinary background) and numerous dogs infested with fleas. They put those dogs in the same tubs we bathe our pet in!!!
#2- The owner is this crazy woman who is AWFUL to her employees..She screams at her dog, and SCREAMS AT HER EMPLOYEES. I have witnessed both. Once, I witnessed her nearly attack an employee, throwing things and screaming/cursing at her. She speaks to her employees through gritted teeth, which i've also heard. She has screamed at her groomers, all with customers in the shop! I couldn't believe it! THIS OWNER IS A NIGHTMARE OF A WOMAN. When you call to make a complaint, you can't get her on the phone!
BOTTOM LINE, THIS PLACE IS AWFUL. Ghetto, even. The dryers are duct-taped together, the brushes always have hair left in them, the tubs stink, the conditioner is watered down, the owner is rude, there is mold on the walls.....Just don't WASTE YOUR MONEY, AND THREATEN YOUR PETS HEALTH! IT IS NOT WORTH IT!! read more
