Urban Barn used to be good, many years ago, but from now on, as other reviewers suggest, I'd avoid it like a coughing Covid virus. Firstly, my new sofa smells strong and toxic, like cheap unhealthy foam. Also, you have to wait a long time to get your order too, as they apply the so-called custom fabric of your choice... which is poorly adhered (stapled) onto the couch frame in the most amateur and unaesthetic way. The delivery service was also disappointing because it costs $200 extra and they don't remove your old sofa. Shitty! I guess the store wants to go out of business. read more

Absolutely disastrous experience with this company. Purchased a couch that was delivered on June 26th. Unfortunately, the couch did not fit our hallway and had to be returned still in the original package. We immediately went back to the store to find a replacement where we were informed that "there was a process to do that". So, we had to file a case online to request a refund/credit. After filing it, received an e-mail informing that it would take "3-5 business days (????) to get a reply". Got a phone call from the company a week later telling that there would be either a re-stocking 15% fee to get a refund or we could get a gift card that would "take another 2-3 business days to be processed (???)". So now it's 11th day with no couch, or any kind of credit back. Please, at any cost stay away from Urban Barn and wish us luck with our endeavor. . read more

I would advise against purchasing from Urban Barn. I bought a floor model table that arrived ruined (split support beams). They offered me 75 dollars to keep the table that was useless and not as sold or they would charge me 99 dollars to have it collected if I wanted a refund. Whilst the staff have always been friendly (particularly when they are looking to make a sale) the organization as a whole is lives up to the worst reviews out there . . avoid if you have any other options (and at this price point you have a lot of other options!). read more

In Dec 2023 I ordered 2 Tacona chairs in Amalie Forest which have an accent of brown leather from Urban Barn Vancouver. Although the chairs in store were beautiful and comfortable, when they were delivered a few weeks later the leather color was incorrect (black), which I was told was due to error on part of the warehouse. Another few weeks later and the incorrect chairs were finally picked up, and then a second delivery arrived more than 1 month later. Once again, the chairs had the incorrect color leather. After multiple phone calls, emails, and waiting around several days for deliveries and pick ups this has been an enormous waste of my time and energy, with no compensation offered for their mistakes. I would not order any items from Urban Barn again which required delivery. read more

Urban Barn is an Urban Nighmare ..... when you have to go to their warehouse !! This retail location was out of stock for the product I bought and so I was told to go to their warehouse on Annacis Island. I had to book an appointment and then showed up on time and found that I was booked for the lunch hour at the warehouse. No one was home.... yikes.I was misinformed by the retail staff about delivery options, scheduling of pick ups and they provided me with a bad map. I complained to the store manager but she could have cared less. Spent way too much of my time sorting out their messes! They advise you on their website to carefully inspect your product before taking possession of it because when you leave the warehouse they will no longer accept responsibility for their product which is fair enough. Good thing I unpacked my product because it was broken but the warehouse staff cheerfully exchanged it for another. Urban Barn is "Wrong at Home" !! read more

Urban Barn is very possibly the WORST company I have ever made a major purchase from. URBAN BARN, if you actually read and care about your customers, here's some advice on customer service: 1. When a customer orders something two months in advance and you say it will arrive in plenty of time, make sure it does. 2. When that customer calls to verify that all pieces are ready not once but TWO separate times - both in store and to your customer care number, CONSIDER ACTUALLY TELLING THE TRUTH. 3. Don't tell the customer the items came in wrong colour so you are blocking the order from pick-up by their movers less than 24 hours before they are supposed to show up at your warehouse. 4. After saying that you have fixed the problem and the order is ready to go, don't then call as the movers are en route to say that the WRONG COLOUR items are actually being delivered today and can the client delay their moving schedule. (Interesting BTW that you were able to take pictures of the wrong colour items in their open boxes for the client if they hadn't actually been received, but that's another suggestion: STOP MISREPRESENTING THE FACTS TO YOUR CLIENT WHEN YOU'VE CLEARLY SCREWED UP.) 4. Don't tell your client that your movers can pick up from your warehouse and then have the warehouse initially refuse to give them the order because they aren't the purchaser. 5. Don't hide behind the "it wasn't my responsibility". Don't evade the clients request to speak with your supervisor by saying they won't be around for a couple days. When it is clear that your company has failed the client in a monumental fashion, don't keep important information - like the number to the company's president - hidden from your front line employees at the call centre in India. 6. Don't let your warehouse staff, who are on the scene with the movers and have precise knowledge of what is going wrong, refuse to talk with the client and instruct them to call that customer care number. 7. Don't have a machine put your client on terminal hold when they call your care number. 8. Saying "I'm sorry", "I understand your frustration", "I don't have that information", "I'm only telling you the information I have" and giving the client a $50 gift certificate is a BS move when you have put them through this ordeal. Oh, and if you are going to continue to warp the facts to your clients, at least keep your stories straight. That last bit about the drawers not being the same colour as the cabinet just added insult to injury knowing that very likely, somewhere in your warehouse, is the item I ordered in the correct colour. read more

It was the worst shopping experience and customer care ever! I had a lot of issues with them in order to deliver my furnitures. They are using a third party delivery company ( which has the worst employees ever!) , so they are using this as a excuse to say " this is not our responsibility " !!!! After a really hard time to organize my delivery time, it wasn't complete and there was missing parts, and even they didn't send my accent table. Then they didn't take the responsibility to send my things in a timely manner when it works for me!! Despite the fact that there are many negative reviews about Urban Barn, I decided to purchase my dining/living/ bedroom sets from this location. I cannot say anything but excellent excellent experience. From ordering to delivering all my furniture. They promised to deliver all item in a week and they did. Urban Barn is the worst company that I have made a purchase from. In a highly competitive industry, customers' service should be the company's core value. Here is some advice: 1. To train sales rep properly. When a customer purchases furniture from the store, let the customer knows that company's policy with birthday month coupon actually is a big joke. Because the coupon is based on the date that the customer has been set up in Urban Barn's newsletter system, not the date that the customer purchases the goods. In the situation the customers purchase the goods in the same month of their birthday month there is no guarantee the customers will receive the coupons because the purchase date does not count. 2. Increase sales with cutting off birthday month coupon is a not a good strategy. With intention to delay input customers' info into the system will save Urban Barn 15% of birthday coupon that would save Urban Barn some money but also will cause Urban Barn the loss of repetitive customers. Customers can be fooled once but not twice. 3. To train customer center and the sales rep tell the truth. For the birthday coupon, there are a few versions a. Customer center: the sales rep should set up the customer file with correct birthday month. If so, the customers should receive the coupon. b. Customer center: Marketing department set up the rules. That is Marketing department's decision. c. Sales rep: Newsletter only send out the first day of each month, if the customer is not set up prior birthday month there is no birthday month coupon. For example, the newsletter sends out on May 1, the customer's birthday is May 2, and the purchase happened in May 2, too bad, the customer missed the coupon because the newsletter sends out on May 1. d. Sales rep: customer can receive birthday month coupon next year (should the customer be silly enough to go back to buy other goods). 4. To have the marketing department and customer service coordinate with each other. a. Marketing department and customers service department telling different rules. b. The policy should be top down not different saying from different department. c. Should a company be coordinated, not acting like each department is a completely different company? I did not receive my birthday coupon after I have called customer center twice, plus calling the store twice. The final result is the birthday month coupon cannot be received because I was set in the system late. Purchase date means nothing. I returned part of my purchase, but the love seat is considered a customized item that cannot be returned. Fine, I spent a fortune to buy a lesson from Urban Barn. Keep the 15% of coupon Urban Barn. I will let all my friends, my coworkers, and my society know what kind of company that Urban Barn is. This is my first time also my last time to purchase in Urban Barn. read more

I purchased 3 dining room chairs at this store on Jan 21st. I took one chair home with me and was told the other two chairs had to be ordered in from another store. I took the chair home and a friend was over last week and her feet can't touch the floor. So I immediately called the store and advised the salesperson I would be returning the chair and not be picking up the other two chairs. I gave her the order numbers and she went off and came back and said I could return the chair but I would have to pay a RESTOCKING fee or get a gift certificate for the chair. And they would credit back my Visa for all 3 chairs. She didn't mention a 14 DAY return policy or the fact that I can't return the chair as it was a floor model. I was fully prepared to buy a french clock that was more expensive than the chair I took home but now I am told I must come in and pick up the other two chairs. The salesperson I spoke with today said she was the salesperson that sold me the chairs and had advised me of the fact it was a floor model and was a final sale which I do not recall. I told her the previous person I spoke with last Monday had not told me that and I said I didn't know why as I gave her the sales orders and she went off and checked them. Then the salesperson I was speaking with said the computer wouldn't show that the chair I took home was a floor model. So needless to say I am NOT a satisfied customer and will not be shopping there again. BUYERS BEWARE of their strict return policies. Most stores have a 30 day return policy. read more

Terrible customer service. I bought a couch in July for approximately $2800 (with tax and delivery) and was assured it came with a 60 month warranty on the fabric for accidental spills etc. My cat had diarrhea on the couch. I called the store and they said not to worry that was considered an accident. They also said not to clean it or it would void the warranty. I sopped up the worst of the mess and then started a warranty claim. The warranty company denied my claim based on a photo of teh couch, because the couch doesn't look stained. Apparently they don't care if the couch stinks only if it looks bad. They said the mess probably seeped into the foam and they don't cover the foam. I pointed out that I was told not to clean the mess so it's not my fault if it seeped into the foam. They said they would send a cleaning kit, I asked when and their response was 'soon'. That was over two weeks ago and I still have no cleaning kit. I have called Urban Barn and Diamond Kote repeatedly and I can't get through to anyone. Their excuse for not getting a hold of me is that they had my e-mail address wrong. Apparently it was too much trouble for them to use the phone number that was on my order #. I am really shocked at their complete lack of response. They literally don't give a rat's a** about my issue. So I'm out $2800, have no couch to sit on and all Urban Barn says is it's up to the warranty company and there's nothing they can do. The warranty company won't even send someone to try to professionally clean it. I asked Urban Barn if they could sell me floor model cushions or the floor model of the sofa at a reduced price. I have offered a ton of solutions. All I have been offered is a $50.00 gift card and a cleaning kit that we all know is not going to work. I used to be a real fan of their stuff, even though I know it's over priced. I am so upset that they have left me hanging like this and not honoured their warranty or even tried to advocate for me with the warranty company. I'm in tears over the whole situation. I am sitting here on an uncomfortable chair staring at my shell of a couch. Cushions are outside as the smell is unbearable....I hate you Urban Barn. Update: I received a response from Diamond Kote this am: Apparently the cleaning kit I was promised two weeks ago doesn't event exist. It's in production and when it's created they are going to get a hold of me. -Unbelievable!!! read more

I know being raised in a barn isn't supposed to be a good thing, but the items that you'll find in Urban Barn are, actually, quite attractive. I wouldn't call this decor store the most original I've ever seen, but they do carry very nice and modern looking sofas, chairs, ottomans, throws, throw pillows, and plenty more in the furniture and accessory department. The aesthetic here tends to be contemporary but homey; not so minimalist as to be spartan, but not so detailed as to be kitschy. In this way, Urban Barn fits in nicely with the other modern chic stores on Granville. The prices here are fairly reasonable, and though you might not find anything terribly unique here, you will probably find something to brighten up your home. read more

Be careful at this particular Urban Barn store. They will try to sell your floor models of items claiming them to be last ones available. They are pushy once they know you are interested and in my case I was not only falsely sold a floor model of an item, led to believe I better get it because it is the last one in the system (turned out to be completely false, only had to think to call another Urban Barn to get the truth) I was then delivered a damaged item (twice) and it has taken numerous telephone calls, more lying and in excess of two weeks to get an undamaged one in exchange During the last exchange, the delivery people noted the damage and documented it on paper but asked I call this particular store to arrange an exchange. This store then asked me to take a photo of the damage before they could help me! ..went on for another few days. Today they have lied again, this morning reassuring me someone would call me by now, no one has. I will stay away from this store, they are unprofessional. I wrote to the Urban Barn headquarters as well but haven't heard anything back. ALSO NOTICED two other disgruntled customers have their reviews filtered, so there not included in the overall rating of this store..not sure why they are filtered. read more

We ordered a 'custom' sofa bed and paid for their delivery service. We felt the couch in the store was low so we opted for the taller legs. We specifically asked if this would affect the bed and were assured that the piece was custom and it would be accounted for in the build. After their delivery service dented our walls and scraped our door frame we setup the couch to discover the bed looked like a crafmatic adjustable bed with over a 25 degree incline. For 4 weeks we went back and forth with their 'customer service' having to hound them for any response at all. Their first response was that this is 'suppose' to be there. We sent pictures in as it was nowhere near the version in the store. Their new solution? Install shorter legs. The same legs we didn't want as it has the couch sit so low... No apology or recognition.of their incompetence. Won't allow us to return or exchange the couch unless we pay a 30% penalty for their error and return the couch ourselves. We have since checked on line and found this company has a long history of similar cases and have been sued multiple times. For $4000 you have so many better options. Stay away from here. read more

I recently had an awful experience at Urban Barn. I custom ordered a carpet from them and have now had it 3 weeks. It is shedding all over our clothes, our new sofa is covered in white hair, it gets in our eyes and there are fur balls everywhere. I contacted Rob, assistant manager at Urban Barn (very inexperienced), who simply told me that they do not take custom orders back. when I insisted something had to be done, he told me to contact the carpet manufacture. Of course, they do not want to do anything! A store needs to stand behind their products not tell customers to deal with the manufacture! I will NEVER buy anything there again! Never shopping at urban barn again!! Just furnished a whole house with great service and products from some fabulous stores... and then theres urban barn! The only company that has screwed up dates and times and changed delivery dates for one reason or another and then won't let you return "custom" pieces even after they deliver the WRONG custom pieces after promised dates and I think they get by with playing ignorant as each time you have to tell your story over thay say sorry you had a bad experience but ....! It is near impossible to reach customer care and when you do they cant comprehend that they've delivered the wrong stuff just repeat that i can go pick up the right stuff or pay to have them pick up mismatched furniture. Im frustrated with incompetent customer care and with too many staff pointing fingers at each other. I purchased a sofa set from scan design issue free and I want to sell my "custom" furniture from Urban Barn but the two pieces dont match and I'm waiting for a promised next day phone call from manager three days later to resolve this. I need to finish construction on my garage starting next week and need this furniture debacle sorted out and this furniture gone. Im too busy for this run around and had to laugh when i phoned customer care today and got the managers voicemail and guess what... mailbox is full can't leave a message!!! OMG! read more

After shopping around for quite some time, I purchased the Foster Sofa this past fall. All of my research had said to stay as far away from Natuzzi Editions as possible, and I avoided many stores for that reason. I carefully saved up the money to buy a really good quality leather sofa that would last. After I got this sofa home and positioned in my living room, I noticed the tag sticking out from the bottom of the sofa and when I pulled it out, it said "manufactured by Natuzzi Editions, China." When we originally went into Urban Barn I checked over the information sheets carefully and saw nothing about this sofa being made in China by a company with such a reputation for extremely poor quality furniture. Urban Barn makes a big fuss about being a Vancouver company and selling top quality products etc. I am so disappointed, and I will never buy anything from Urban Barn again. I'm unimpressed and honestly, embarrassed that Urban Barn originated in Vancouver. read more

Customer service is horrible!. I purchased 2 leather counter stools to the tune of $800 and was told when to come pick them up and that if I could not to phone them. I even called a few days before to confirm the date. When I got there a snotty sales girl says in a snotty way...well did anyone phone you to say they were in? I told her no one ever told me that someone was supposed to call me only that I should phone if I could not come. Her next snotty reply was that, that is their store procedure/policy. I asked her how was I supposed to know that if no one told me that. She said their deliveries were usually on Fridays not on Tuesdays. How was I supposed to know that when they told me to come on a Tuesday and when I had phoned to confirm that it was on a Tuesday? It was a particulary treacherous drive down there as the streets were frozen after a a lot of snow and a temperature drop and I was subjected to this incredibly bad attitude on the clerk's part. If I could give them a zero rating I would but you have to at least give them a 1. read more

Ugh, such non-existent customer service. I wandered into the store and found three employees standing at the cash desk gabbing away loudly. They were speaking at a volume that could only be described as shouting and were behaving in a completely unprofessional manner. I did an entire loop around the sales floor and no one acknowledged me once. I went downstairs where another sales associate was having a loud personal conversation on the phone about her mother's birthday. I was finally greeted by another sales associate who gave me a half-hearted "hello" and "let me know if you have any questions" before letting out a huge sigh and then apparently sitting down on a display sofa to fluff some pillows. I made my way back upstairs where there were now just two employees who seemed to be continuing their loud conversation; this time, they paused when I emerged from the staircase, only to stare at me for a split second like kids caught with their hands in the proverbial cookie jar before resuming their conversation. What a strange experience. I wouldn't recommend this place if you're a serious furniture shopper and/or if you have standards about customer service. read more

Though I like some things in Urban Barn as the saying goes...You definitely get what you pay for! Ok so not the highest quality items but I think that is evident when you walk in any of there stores. BUT we bought some plates and bowls there that were in that crackled glass kinda design and I guess they were not sealed correctly because after first use with some hot wings on the plate they stained. We washed them three times and then took them back to the store to show the stains and the sales lady we saw agreed and gave us the customer care phone number. Called them explained they were purchased as a wedding gift in June and given at the wedding day in July and used for the first time a few weeks after the couple returned from their honeymoon. Therefore the complaint on the defective plates was not within the 30 days of their policy for return! She offered us a $25 gift certificate for 8 plates and 8 bowls! I get return policies and all that but these were defective not something that we didn't like or something like that. Really in my opinion, very poor customer care, she spoke steadily and with no emotion in her voice whatsoever. She may have cared but it was like she just couldn't ...it was robotic, like this is policy and I cannot jump out of the box and say and think anything more for myself! If this is what you get from this company... I would say don't shop here! read more
