I've been looking for a good spot to get craft beer in the Troy area for a while. I love a good…read morestout, but most places that sell beer don't have many stouts available. I decided to check out Troy Beverage Center, and fell in love. They have a very wide variety of different beers. I've gone back multiple times to try different ones, and I plan on keep going back! The only problem with this place is the lack of organization, making it very tough to find things if you have something particular in mind, and it's also very dusty, which makes me wonder how often they rotate beers out. Other than that, this is a great spot to pick up some specialty stouts, IPAs, or whatever you might be looking for if you're in the Troy area!

Lots of stuff for the avid beer fan or the "I need a case of beer quick BROTHER!"-guy. Lots of the craft stuff is in the fridge too, which is awesome because then you can drink it like, right away. Growler taps are now open (they said they've been up and running for a week so far). They cool the growler containers for you before they fill them up because they are sweet people just trying to get you a decent frosty buzz going. Lots and lots of choice of beer and something else I really appreciated, MIXERS. Lots of tonic and seltzer flavors to keep you satisfied. I think I even peeped a Cucumber Melon flavor. Go here, get your beer, drink your beer and come back again. At least, that's what I'm planning on doing.

On a scale of 1-100, there isn't a wine below 75 in this shop. If you had a great cabernet last…read morenight at Lucas Confectionary, you'll be able to get a bottle of it here. If you're looking for a bottle of Muscatel or Boone's Farm, may I suggest the liquor store on Ferry St by the homeless shelter? This store sells the best at moderately affordable prices.

I picked out this super weird wine from the very back of the shelf and the owner couldn't tell us anything about it. Poured some drinks and it was so, so good- surprisingly so! Fast forward and it's that guys birthday a month later. I remembered the name of the wine and the image on the bottle, but that was it. I find it online. It's super hard to order. I get in contact with this beautiful company here, I email with Paula and talk to Shannon on the phone (they work here) and not only did they give me the kindest support and service, but they shipped the bottle of wine to me 9 states away in time for my guy's birthday! And it arrived early! I wish I could leave more stars- they deserve it. I am so grateful for the time, care, and quality they provided me. 8 states away or not, if there is a speciality bottle of wine, hell any wine, I need from now on- I'll be ordering it from here. Cannot recommend this team enough for going out of their way for me.

A very pleasant find. A small store in a strip mall in Newtonville, conveniently down the road…read morefrom the Fresh Market. During my short visit I was approached by three sales people, two very friendly, welcoming, and anxious to answer any questions. I was primarily interested in French and Northwestern wines. Not a huge selection but some very interesting and fine selections, several of which I haven't seen elsewhere in the Capital Region. I walked out with seven bottles. While I didn't expect this, I received a half case discount. Not inexpensive, but seemed quite fair for the area. I am looking forward to a return visit.

After that I wrote the owners an email and I never heard from them .Not an apology was issue not even a reply .I can't help but to think This was somewhat racially profiled but I can't make that judgement only god can I just know I will never set foot in that establishment again .

Price-checking several well-known websites and digging a little deeper, I landed at We Speak Wine. Their website was easy to navigate through. Although they are mostly a wine cellar, I was able to find the two sakes that I wanted. I really liked that I don't recognize a single brand of sake that they carried (except for Otokoyama). I'm no sake connoisseur but I was interested in both their high-end stuff as well as the affordable stuff. Highest priced sake was $180 and cheapest was $15. No Sho Chiku Bai or Hakkaisan (Thank Buddha). As for wines, the huge variety and selection are mind-boggling. If you know what you want, or if you want to play "bottle roulette," this is the place. Shipping was $15.54 for 2 bottles but they delivered right on time as promised and their packing was great. No packing peanuts, no soggy box, no chards of glass to attack my unsuspecting hand. They took out the bottles from the boxes, neatly folded the boxes, wrapped the bottles in tissue paper then put them in bottle cartons. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/QjNzU0Ys6698OKHzLVDeNw?select=BM9L_UG5w76Z4-BDKbFmFA Prices for my bottles of sake were about $10-20 cheaper than other websites. At first I gave this place 5 stars but I'm a little bewildered that the same bottle that I ordered online 2 weeks ago is now $22 more and the other bottle is now $16 more. I guess I got a good deal at the right time. Even at these higher prices, they'll still make you feel better by listing a higher price and using font-edit strikethrough. Nonetheless, I appreciate the accompanying refrigerator magnet, the business card with a human name on it, and a human hand-written "Thank you!" on my order summary that was folded neatly into a logo envelope. I also appreciate that this is a small or relatively new business (my order number is only 3 digits big) in Troy, near Albany in upstate New York. By the way, the address is the same as a local liquor store, Hoosick Street Wine Cellar Discount, so look for that if you're in the area. I found it funny that I live in a state that is closer to Japan and produces fine wines and yet I ordered sake from a wine cellar on the opposite side of the country, especially when K&L Wine Merchant is not that far away. Anyway, there is a bunch of interesting bottles that I am eyeing at We Speak Wine and when the occasion calls for it, I will order from them again.
