How can I not review my local festival...! Of course, its a five star event! I really enjoyed…read moremyself and I can see why it draws such a crowd. This year was my first time going and I was pleasantly surprised! If you're like me and you get anxiety over festival parking, be assured that all you need to do is look at the festival map posted online for the event and they have clearly marked parking garages- all for 5 bucks! All liquor was 6 bucks, and food averaged 12 bucks on up. I ended up also getting doggie waffle treats for cheap. I loved their concept and interaction. Overall plenty to do... if you go make sure to check out the live music, vendors, and stay true to Maryland by checking out the seafood food stands! See you next year!

There were rides but mostly they were for the kids enjoyment. Definitely not complaining because slong with the wares there was an abundance of food you only find at festivals like funnel cake and huge turkey legs not to mention pad thai stalls and Jimmy seafood. I ate wayyy too much but i was happy with it. The beer garden was a nice touch for the adults. There was a band going which was nice back ground music. This was a really nice sunday strolling with friends and i got my mothers day shopping out the way!

** 5 Year Review Update **…read more Fells Point continues to be great for the most part. Quality restaurants and boutiques, gorge water views, some of the coolest folks you'd ever meet. Some establishments have left, some have joined. The crowds stay heavy. Sadly lately, the crime has increased making it sometimes difficult to enjoy. Parking is gawd awful, but worth the hustle. I pray this area improves as Baltimore City deserves this.

Fell's Point is located along the north shore of the Baltimore Harbor and just less than 10 miles from our hotel... we made our way here on MLK Day. Surprisingly, not all the businesses were closed on a holiday. We arrived around 10:30a and found parking. There are a few options for parking including metered parking and convenient lots and garages. We found an open spot on Thames Street. Fell's Point is beautiful as it was once a bustling shipbuilding port. We walked the snowy sidewalks and enjoyed the views of the wharf. Fell's Point is a historic waterfront and one of the oldest neighborhoods in Baltimore. It has served as the home to jazz singer Billie Holiday and abolitionist Frederick Douglass. I loved the cobblestone streets with many waterfront restaurants and bars and the local cute boutiques shops. We had brunch at Barcocina and did some window shopping at the cozy shops. We also shared a pastry purchased from Pitango Bakery Cafe located right there at the waterfront. Review #3664

Do you remember a time when "figure study" meant something besides analyzing a budget report? For all of us Fine Arts majors who ended up as corporate ladder climbing cube-slaves, there is hope for us (if you're an arts major that didn't give up your dreams and are actually in an art related field - you can come too...just don't sit too close to me, or I may stab you with my #5 pencil) in the form of Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School in Baltimore! It's not really an art school (hence the "anti-art school" in the title), it's more like a monthly drink and draw social club with live models in amazing costumes (OK, generally burlesque-esque costumes...over 21 only please), where for 4 hours, you can sketch away and remember a time when "carpel tunnel" was a disease you got from..."other" activities, not from creating 457 page Board Reports. Only $8 admission, and held at the Wind-Up Space in Baltimore, there are drink specials, fellow artist wannabes (and actual real-live breathing artists) to mingle and socialize with. All you need is to dig out that dusty sketchpad that your cat has been using as a scratching post, and a few pens and pencils (which you can happily "liberate" from your office supply cabinet) and transport yourself back to a time when creating beauty didn't involve powerpoint presentations.

I love Baltimore…read more Jeremy and I had plans to meet up with a group of friends to celebrate Chris's birthday at 6pm. But the weather was lovely and we were bored sitting around the apartment so we went to waste some time downtown. We parked in Little Italy and walked the entire promenade for like the 15th time. There's always something to see... this time we saw TWO couples dressed for their wedding, and an entire dinner cruise worth of people wearing white. I see the need for some updates in the area. New neighborhoods are springing up, and old neighborhoods are being gentrified, but the area around the harbor remains the same... only slowly losing its charm to a mishmash of stores that don't offer anything unique, and over-priced restaurants. Though I was glad to see Angeli's pizza - we had Chris's birthday dinner at their Little Italy location last year and had a blast. Rash Field is a hot mess. I don't know what they think they're doing with that space, but it's ugly, broken, unmaintained, and dangerous. It's supposed to be a family friendly place, with a (scary as hell looking, Silent Hill-esque) playground but just a quick look around revealed many places where children should not go. I miss that crazy fountain, and the merry-go-round. But the new marsh area by the aquarium is pretty cool. I would have been absolutely thrilled if the otters had shown themselves, but alas I couldn't find any hint of them. I also adore the paddle dragons. And now there are electric pirate ships. No paddling required! Sadly, they are in no way accessible, but I still enjoy watching them. It's absolutely possible to have a great time at the Inner Harbor without spending any money (except for parking) just people/boat watching. Street performers, such as the dude playing the violin, provide the soundtrack. There are a lot of events held throughout the year in this area. Nothing much was going on when we were there, but the Book Festival is coming up... and the German Christmas Village is fantastic. I highly recommend my city. Go check it out.
