The room and bathroom were both spacious, and the overall atmosphere had so much charm. Breakfast was provided, which was a nice added touch. Another big plus is the walkability--you can easily walk to shops, restaurants, and other spots around town. If you enjoy places with personality and small-town charm, this is definitely worth checking out!

I was greeted warmly walking in by the front desk staff and checking in was simple and easy. As a note, making reservations through the hotels own website gives you the best rate, in comparison to all the third party options. Two queen beds on the fourth floor (top floor), overlooking a part of the old cemetary and park. The room was spacious and nicely appointed, both beds were very comfortable. Along with a couple of seating chairs and a small corner table, there was all the amenities one expects traveling nowadays, coffee station, fridge and microwave. A work station and chair and a flat screen rounded out the room. A walk in shower in the oversized bathroom had plenty of hot water for my shower in the morning. It was bright, well lit and served its purpose as intended. Breakfast is included in the stay, and it was a decent enough start to the day. Scrambled eggs, breakfast meat with potatoes, along with an assortment of breads, grits, fruits, juices and coffee and teas. Cold cereals, and yogurts as well. The dining area was clean, well lit and spacious. All in all, the Hotel Floyd is a comfortable stay and a fair value for the money. Would stay again. 4 Stars 01091

Ugh.... The thought…read moreof driving the nightmare traffic of Charlotte NC is terrible ... somehow the various local governments have created a monster. Our experience is to drive from Dayton Ohio to a Fairfield just south of Charlotte - but NEVER again on a Friday afternoon. I had stayed at Fairfield years ago in Elkin.... Thus reserved 5th floor and Everything is fine. Pleasant checkin, neat area restaurant, really great and clean room, pleasant breakfast area with large hot container of oatmeal - NOT oatmeal packets.... A road oasis as good as it gets....

Service was friendly when I arrived and I was given a welcome gift of water and snacks. The hallways are very warm/humid so it seems the air conditioning was just in the rooms. The room was in two sections with the bed in one area and the couch and desk in another. The bed section was tight so not much room to move. The lounging section was comfortable but not enough lighting. There was a broken light or bad lightbulb in one of the lights so I am not sure if that would have helped. On the second night I moved the lamps from the bed section to the other part of the room so I could read. If the wall wasn't in the room that would have let more daylight reach the other side. The tv in the room was large and the tv had limited cable stations. The WIFI was good. Breakfast had a wide assortment of items and this one had a toaster. The first day it was well attended to and kept up with keeping the food selection stocked and tables clean. This was not happening on the second day. Newspapers were available in the mornings. I'd stay here again if back in Elkin, NC.

Easy check in and out! What I noticed most was the cleanliness. You walk in and everything was neat…read moreand organized. They have a little convenience shop to the left of the desk filled with snacks and, luckily, floaties for the pool. The front desk ladies were polite and friendly! We stayed here twice, in the same room actually. It had 2 queen beds, a pull out couch, mini fridge, desk area, and a decently sized bathroom. Our party consisted of 2 adults and 2 children and we had more than enough room. The bathroom was stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, all in refillable pump bottles. The sink also had hand wash and body lotion. The pool area was kept clean and the staff said we could eat in there at the tables if we wanted. It wasn't a huge area, but there were at least 2 tables and several options for seating. The pool only went to 5 feet and had decent stairs for my toddler in the shallow end. There was also a small gym, complete with some dumbbells, an adjustable bench, treadmill, elliptical, and star stepper, plus a yoga mat and exercise ball. There was a small cabinet which held towels, wipes, and a water dispenser/cups. The only bummer was I saw the same dead moth under the elliptical both stays (2 weeks apart), so I know the gym hadn't been cleaned. Breakfast was decent-- it was the same both both times we had it. They have 3 cereal options, some yogurt and oatmeal, fresh fruit (apples, oranges, and bananas), two types of eggs, sausage, bacon, toast (even a GF bread), bagels, muffins, cinnamon rolls, and a pancake maker. There was also coffee and tea. Everything was served until 9:30. There is always water with fresh fruit out. We ate at two nearby restaurants-- Fat Boy's Pizza and Cinco de Mayo Mexican and both were great! There is also a restaurant list inside the lobby. I felt safe staying here and had no issues in the parking lot. There were only a few other guests during both of our stays. This was a good spot to stay during our travels and I will definitely consider coming back!

This lady recognized we were tired and a baby. She helped get us set up in a nice room and offered to upgrade us to make sure we were comfortable for the short stay. She insured we had everything we needed. We are beyond grateful for this lady and having a room with a microwave to heat up the water for the bottles. Only suggestion I would have is new pillows, the place was very clean, and sheets were clean. The pillows were marked "soft" and "firm." They all felt like they were destroyed in a pillow fight and lacked any support at all.

Insights: price for two week stay was competitive and flexible if we needed to add/remove a day, breakfast (hubs like the pastry selections and I was pleased with the coffee which was make as you go from a self-serve machine that grinds the beans and then is a pour over), Holiday Inn member points, corporate owned (this has become important to us as we have had huge issues with independently owned hotels like Best Westerns that corporate refuses to address), location in town is easy to get in and out and central to food, pharmacy, and other stores that we needed such as UPS/Lowes. Facility is newer, clean and smells clean but needs some TLC including carpet/floors, bathroom detail in the room such as floor corners and window wells in the rooms. Bed linens were clean and bed was comfy. Room set-up worked well but we selected a room with more space because of the extended stay. Employees were super friendly and responsive; no problem requesting more towels. We used the laundry room (one washer/one dryer) as we often are tromping around our acreage and need to wash tshirts and such; the machines ran well and did its job. The black out shade worked its magic and the window was large and offered a great view of Mt. Airy. We would definitely stay here again. We definitely will stay here again.
