Stayed here recently for a night and it was a good choice. Comfortable, very clean, and spacious. Just a stones throw from the middle of town, and very walkable to most of the things to do in the area. I was greeted warmly walking in by the front desk staff and checking in was simple and easy. As a note, making reservations through the hotels own website gives you the best rate, in comparison to all the third party options. Two queen beds on the fourth floor (top floor), overlooking a part of the old cemetary and park. The room was spacious and nicely appointed, both beds were very comfortable. Along with a couple of seating chairs and a small corner table, there was all the amenities one expects traveling nowadays, coffee station, fridge and microwave. A work station and chair and a flat screen rounded out the room. A walk in shower in the oversized bathroom had plenty of hot water for my shower in the morning. It was bright, well lit and served its purpose as intended. Breakfast is included in the stay, and it was a decent enough start to the day. Scrambled eggs, breakfast meat with potatoes, along with an assortment of breads, grits, fruits, juices and coffee and teas. Cold cereals, and yogurts as well. The dining area was clean, well lit and spacious. All in all, the Hotel Floyd is a comfortable stay and a fair value for the money. Would stay again. 4 Stars 01091 read more

Spacious, welcoming lobby and rooms in a quiet atmosphere right next to downtown - basically a perfect stay. No notes on our 3rd floor room, it was clean and large, and locally themed too. We skipped the breakfast. It's standard motel fare and with a loud TV in the room, there are better options very close by. Despite that, I feel the room was fairly priced for summertime in the USA. Though we've visited Floyd many times over the years, this was our first time staying in town, and I think this would be a great option for FF26. read more

We chose to stay at the Hotel Floyd on our most recent visit to one of our favorite small towns. Our request for a somewhat early check-in was accommodated without question. The room was clean, comfortable and well appointed with artwork depicting the area and accent pieces honored our rural surroundings. Everything we expect to have in the way of lodging amenities was readily available. Probably the biggest surprise was the delicious breakfast buffet that is included. Actual plates, flatware and coffee mugs aren't something usually found at mid tier chains, but here it all was. Great coffee, biscuits and sausage gravy, eggs, link sausage, pastries and others items made for a complete and filling start to our day. It is a short, safe walk on a concrete sidewalk directly to South Locust Street where the Floyd County Store, great shops and the Dogtown Roadhouse are. We highly recommend the Hotel Floyd a d will stay there the next time we visit Floyd. read more

We've stayed here before so we were really surprised when we saw dead bugs in the room, a broken refrigerator and a used condom in the room. We Won't be staying here again. I let the front desk know but they didn't really seem to care. Also, the outside doors do not lock so if you stay at ground level anyone can walk into the building at any time day or night. The front desk could have done better than respond to my concerns with a "oooooh, sorry". I know it's not a Marriot but cmon, you're supposed to be in the hospitality industry but your lack of empowerment on solving situations like this was dumbfounding. She may as well have said "oh sorry you got screwed, don't care". Also the smell of chlorine bleach was so strong you could smell it down the hallway, I thought they had a hot tub we missed when staying there before but they must have spilled a lot of Clorox somewhere in the building while doing laundry. We will go back to the Pine Tavern Lodge next time. Their rooms were immaculate. This place was the pits. read more

Sorry but what a disappointment! We had an outside room and while we enjoyed sitting outside, the room was just not comfortable. There was nowhere to sit except the very soft flimsy mattress and the bathroom had mold amd mildew. The main part of the hotel smelled musty. It served its purpose but we checked out a day early and left. Definitely won't stay there again. read more

Great establishment! Very clean with a lot of space. I will say if you do plan to stay here make sure you have transportation scheduled because there is no Uber, Lyft or taxi services. We ended up getting stranded at the hotel in the morning after attending a wedding because we left our car at the venue. Thanks to the hotel housekeeper we were able to get back in the morning. She did mention to me that there are two Facebook groups (Floyd group 1 and 2) that people in the town do use to find rides. Make sure you're a better prepared than we were! read more

Stayed on 1/5/19 When I first heard of THF, I envisioned a hotel in a town with a population of about 425 people a place similar to " The Shady Rest Hotel" from the old TV show, "Petticoat Junction", a TV show that was on the air about 100 years ago, (feels like it with today's media and technology) lol, but boy was I wrong!!! This place is unbelievable, built in 2007, and expanded in 2014, the place is eco friendly with green technology, using environmentally-friendly materials in it's construction. The roof has solar panels installed. Just off the check-in lobby there is a beautifully furnished, and extremely comfortable sitting room that is a pleasure to sit in and enjoy a cup of coffee, or tea after a long ride. I had a nice chat with the night clerk who checked me in, a personable lad from Manchester England, I mentioned that I had just arrived back from Great Britain the week before (my second home). The rooms are spotless with state-of-the-art interiors, wireless wall phones, multiple outlets for appliances, and USB connections, ( never enough in your normal hotel accommodations. There is a microwave and fridge, two items that you find in a lot of chain hotels; but a Cuisinart coffeemaker instead of those normal little crappy ones I normally find, wow!! A lot of thought was put into the rooms at The Hotel Floyd down to the detailed information on how to use the remote control, and the recycling bin in the closet (the directions were how to use the TV only and not the recycling bin). All of the rooms have different unique names such as; Wooley Jumpers (RM.109), Republic of Floyd (Rm.113), Foggy Ridge (Rm.112). I stayed in Josephine Porter (Rm.208). The rooms located in the back of the hotel have rocking chairs to sit outside, on a hot Southern evening, and the grounds are beautifully landscaped. There are also suites in the back that are pet friendly. The hotel rates include breakfast. While checking out I asked the nice ladies at the desk about any other attractions, or places of interest in the area, thats how I found Five Mile Mountain Distillery (corn whiskey) Floyd's first distillery since prohibition, and The Wildwood Farms General Store, (my next two reviews) The Hotel Floyd is quite an anomaly in a town that has such a small population. The town of Floyd, although it's small in size, has some very eclectic stores ( like The Republic of Floyd Emporium) and some great art galleries. read more

Who knew that there was such a place as Floyd Va? Really! But there is and in this cool little town As you make your way off State Route 8 just around the corner lies this fabulous Hotel hidden in the middle of the town. The outside area around the Hotel includes a paver patio area to the left, a small amphitheater on the right side, and wrap around porches. So there are plenty of areas to hangout, relax and enjoy the fresh air. As you make your way into the lobby to the left is a small room with coffee, another sitting area and some local art and jewelry that's available for purchase. Straight ahead and to the right is the dining area, which they were nice enough to open up for us to use for dinner as we brought in some pizza and salads for out group. The included breakfast was similar to what you would get at a Hampton, eggs, bacon, biscuits, gray, cereal, etc. My room was awesome it had a nice size sitting area as you walk in and a small sink, fridge, and microwave. It had two bedrooms, one with two twin beds and one with a king size. The king was very comfortable. It also had two full bathrooms. The whole Hotel was well kept and very clean, the staff were very inviting and friendly. My only complaint was that I was only there for one night. I would have loved to stay and check out the town and spend some time just sitting back relaxing. Speaking of exploring there is an old cemetery just behind the hotel, it has some very old graves even some old Civil War Confederate grave markers. Some cool history to take in for the History buffs. Anyhow I sure do look forward to visiting again, if your looking for a place to relax and unplug Hotel Floyd is definitely the place. BTW there was zero phone signal unless you decide to use the free WIFI, but I recommend seize the moment and just unplug. Ditch the leash. read more

Fabulous hospitality and amazingly comfortable beds at Hotel Floyd!! I love our visits to Hotel Floyd, it's a clean hotel, artsy decorations, free continental breakfast of homemade goodies like strawberry scones, and the most comfortable bed I ever slept in yet. Seriously I had the best night's sleep in a great hotel! The town of Floyd is quaint and there are good restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The hotel has a theme to each room linked to the town. Photos of local events and homemade pottery are lovely accents to the rooms. The breakfast is a good array of homemade goodies and I favor the oatmeal and the strawberry scones. read more

We were assured we would have a top floor, non smoking room. They gave us a private entrance, first floor room with a smoking area right outside our door. It's complete with ashtrays and lounge chairs. The room is 1 star at best. I found the alarm clock and phone charger under the bed. They also claimed no other rooms are available. The desk will tell u anything when making ur reservation, when u arrive, it's completely different. Will not stay here again. read more

We stayed here while we were in town for a wedding and had a great stay. The room was nice and had all of the amenities we needed. We stayed in Villa Appalachia. We had a microwave and refrigerator in the room. The continental breakfast was delicious and they have wine and beer available to purchase from the front in the evenings (loved the Vienna Lager). There is an old civil war cemetery behind the hotel and a few rooms are level with it with the windows looking right into it which was slightly creepy to me, but Idk you might be into that. Luckily our room was on the side not near the cemetery because I am not into that. Easy walk to the old country store and other downtown shopping, restaurants, and attract Editing my review: We were here for a wedding. The mother of the bride was paying for our room. My husband bought us a few drinks at the front and paid for the drinks then since we weren't paying for the room. Apparently they saved his card information without our consent and charged the room to our card without our authorization a week after our stay. I've been trying for 3 days to get this taken care of. Everyone keeps telling me they are "looking into it." They take my number and promise to call me back but never do. I have received no update and we are still out $377. I will update this review when the situation is remedied. After putting all of this in writing, a manager finally got back to me and issued a refund. 5 days later we finally have our money back. read more

I stayed here 2 nights for a wedding and really enjoyed the cozy and intimate nature of Hotel Floyd. The rooms are charming and distinctive and I believe each room has a different decor. Incidentally many of the rooms are "sponsored" to a certain extent with a local business so don't be surprised if you see the name of your room down the street. The beds are so comfy. It was tough to rest on them in the afternoon and not want to take a litter nap for fear of missing the wedding. Folks here are so nice - everything you expect from a smaller town in Virginia. They made sure that we had an amazing stay and were attentive to all our little requests. While Hotel Floyd is your only option in town, that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's pretty decent accommodations with a whole lot of charm that only Floyd VA can provide. read more

I wish I could give them 6 stars. We went as part of the Living Social deal they had. Our room: We stayed for 2 nights in the Chateau Morrisette Winery room (also a fantastic local place to visit!). Very clean & a comfy bed. The room felt cozy, lots of wood furnishings, earthy tones in the fabrics. It did not feel like the big chain hotels AT ALL. Included a weekly list of local events in town (they had live music in 3 spots our Sat night there - surprising for such a small town). Their website shows pics of each room. Location: Literally walking distance to everything in the downtown area - diners, little shops, Dogtown where we heard live music, etc. There was a lot more to do in this small town than we expected! Staff: Very friendly and helpful. Overall: A clean, unique, charming hotel right in the center of town. If we ever make it back to Floyd VA we will definitely be staying at Hotel Floyd. read more

Floyd is a very unusual small town...almost a parallel universe. That being said, it was a pleasant surprise to find the Hotel Floyd, new and big and smack dab in the middle of town, cobble pathways leading out to nearby restaurants and stores. The person who owns the hotel probably owns the town. Not realizing that each room was themed, we were slightly confused when entering ours because there were pictures of bees everywhere. The lamp was a jar of honey and there were old hives framed above the bed. If you are not a flower child, Floyd may not be the town for you. However, the room was spotless, the carpet immaculate, and we had 600 channels. My one suggestion would be to bring your own comfortable pillow. Each bed comes with three very flat hospital-grade pillows. I did not sleep very well because of this. read more

This is an odd hotel. Fitting I guess considering Floyd's odd makeup as a town. The outside looks like a farmhouse or B&B. Inside however, it is a standard hotel layout. It is clean an inviting though it is a bit of a shock to the system after seeing the outside of the building. I just expected something different. The oddness of the hotel though, and what actually endeared it to me, was the room designs. While all the standard features are in the bedrooms, each room is designed by a local business. So each room has its own flair and uniqueness. This brings the town to the hotel. I really liked the concept and I think it is a good idea for other tourist towns to consider. Another nice part of the hotel was the local music they brought in - and the local food they brought in for the music venue. Usually the music is played outside but on my visit, due to the weather, it was inside. No matter. I really enjoyed it. The next morning I woke up refreshed and alive. Great hotel. My Man and I stayed here a few weekends back. Sadly, it was the off season so we were one of about three occupants for the weekend. This was one of my favorite places we have stayed in the area. The hotel was clean, the staff friendly, and the location perfect. There was one small issue, but it was resolved so promptly and satisfactorily that i won't outline the details. When the manager contacted me regarding my comment card he was courteous, professional, and fully addressed my concern. This is indicative of the whole wonderful experience. Alec and I will be back. Hopefully when the place is the bustling hive of activity I am sure it is during the peak season. read more

What a lovely stay! Thank you Hotel Floyd! We had a reservation with another hotel. We were dropping our oldest child off at College. It was a very emotional day. When we arrived at our other hotel, they informed us that that they had given away our room and cancelled our reservation. We were referred to the Hotel Floyd. We were fortunate they had a room available. the rooms are very clean and spacious. The staff is warm and welcoming. Everything about the room and the stay was positive. I am looking forward to booking with them again. I am hoping to try one of their other amazing rooms. read more

I loved this little gem!!! What a cute and unexpected find in little Floyd. Each room is decorated with a different theme. We got the Blue Mountain School which I believe is a local charter school. It was uniquely decorated with mugs, colored pencils, and books. The bathroom featured nice toiletries and even a black towel specifically there for us ladies (or guys in some cases) to wipe off our makeup. The hotel was sparkling clean and offered a substantial continental breakfast as well. The staff was super nice and very accommodating. When we checked in I asked her which themes were available and she patiently looked through to see what she could offer us. It made for a great stay in Floyd. read more

Our home away from home in magical Floyd, Virginia. Hotel Floyd is a wonderfully eclectic representation of Floyd itself. Each room is named for a different local business (we stayed in the Floyd Center for the Arts room on this most recent trip,) and decorated with the handiwork of local artisans. The rooms are beautifully appointed, spacious, and reasonably priced. The hotel is within walking distance of some of the major downtown attractions, primarily the Floyd Country Store, home of the Friday Night Jamboree, and the Dogtown Music Hall. The entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway is under 10 miles from Hotel Floyd. There are a number of excellent restaurants close by, as well. The staff at the hotel is friendly and welcoming, and there's a free continental breakfast each morning. Hotel Floyd is a gem! read more

We just spent one night here and we LOVE the Hotel Floyd. The free continental breakfast is the best I have had. We had broccoli and cheese mini-quiches, pork sausage, cheese grits, oatmeal, etc. And we loved the room, too. All the decorations were unique, the room was spacious and comfortable. It has a mountain cabin feel with modern conveniences - TV and WiFi. Loved our time here! read more

We had a late check in and they were very accommodating. Awesome town to stop in. Room were clean and good free breakfast. The rooms all have different themes which were so cute. Really a gem of a find and free music on certain nights supporting local artists. We will def stay here again if ever in Floyd. read more

What happened?? We stay here whenever we come to Floyd and have had a pleasant stay. However, this time... ...there was poop on the toilet seat! Yes, that's right. I have witnesses and pictures. And the toilet bowl had developed that pink film that indicates it had not been cleaned in at least 2 weeks. I know what hard water stains look like. This wasn't it. The shower had black mildew and more of the pink mildew. Another member of our party noticed that the floor had not been vacuumed. And when I pulled back the covers on the bed, there was debris all over the sheets. The Housekeeping Manager sent to inspect the situation was dismayed at the state of our room, wondered aloud who signed-off on this room, apologized, and muttered something about recent construction. The Manager came and cleaned the room but we had to leave for 2 hours. So much for being able to rest and freshen-up. He then gave us a whopping 20% discount. The only reason that I'm giving 2 stars is because the manager was a nice guy. read more

My husband and I spent one night at Hotel Floyd and enjoyed our stay. The lady at the front desk was extremely friendly, and we were pleasantly surprised at how beautiful our room was furnished. My only complaint would be in regards to the noise that you can hear from the room above you due to their use of bamboo flooring. We could hear every step they took, including all of their moving around at an extremely early hour. Maybe some rugs on the rooms upstairs would help decrease the foot noise for those staying downstairs? We look forward to spending the night here again (just not on the lower level!). read more

We had a good time here. We loved Floyd, VA. What a wonderful town. And my mother especially really loved this hotel. She probably would have given in five stars. I can't feel it deserves five stars because to me it wasn't that memorable, but I did like it fine & I liked that it was attempting to be "green" and that it was a local place featuring local stuff. If we hadn't totally fallen in love with the Shenandoahs after we went to Floyd, we would have absolutely returned here, but we were overwhelmed with delight at the National Park & thus are not as likely to come back here. But, we really did enjoy our stay. I am thinking it will be nicer there when they complete their construction, though I am not one hundred percent sure. read more

We ended up here because we were unhappy with our original accommodations. This hotel is 30 minutes away from Blacksburg in a very hippy-esk type of town. Floyd itself is quaint, but not a lot to do. We stayed here during the great rain of 2015. We were recommended this hotel by staff at El Charro. This place is a gem! The staff was fantastic. The rooms were large and immaculately clean. The Wi-Fi is fast. They have a microwave, fridge and home roasted coffee with coffee maker. The coffee is fantastic. The beds are comfortable enough...a bit hard for my taste, but everything is new. Hotel is very green. It's as good as it gets in a small town! The complimentary breakfast was a better than what you would get at the Hampton Inns. It is mostly organic and many homemade items. We had mini quiches, cheesy grits and sausage. They had cold cereal, bagels, english muffins, a variety of homemade muffins and scones (we chose the pumpkin), fresh fruit, and their famous Floyd roasted coffee. We would definitely stay here again if we had to. I say "had to" because we were there to see our son at Virginia Tech for his birthday and this is the closest we could get in because it happened to be a game weekend too. read more

We came to Floyd, VA to purchase a handmade fiddle from the Mitchell Music Store. The hotel is in a lovely setting and totally comfortable, with each room reflecting a different motif, related to the music and history of the town and region. The rooms were clean with microwave and mini-fridges, and the beds were excellent! The hotel management was friendly and helpful, and I would highly recommend making Floyd and this hotel a stop on the Crooked Road tour of Virginia. read more

Excellent experience! I would like to pay less in a small town but this place was worth it. Very friendly staff and in a great location in "downtown" Floyd. The rooms are very spacious.
