Dr. Elizabeth Mullans is an absolute gem. For someone who has dealt with skin issues their whole life, from acne to eczema, it's been extremely debilitating on my self-esteem and mental health. Dr. Mullans' warmth and kindness was really reassuring and exactly what I needed to remain hopeful that there was relief in sight. I love how she'll always tell you first what her proposed treatment is and see how you feel before proceeding. It's never felt like she has tried to push anything on me and she has always been honest about any possible risks that may come with certain medications that we've tried. I've seen a lot of progress and that's why I've stayed with her for almost two years now. I only took off a star because the rest of her staff are not as pleasant. I agree with the other reviews that her receptionist, Allison is not friendly. Maybe she's really good at the other aspects of her job because Dr. Mullans has kept her around for a while. Ivette, her assistant, is better to deal with. But sometimes she makes comments that are a little off-putting. Dr. And Nurse are friendly and knowledgeable. Receptionist is cold. Not pleased with a minor, minor procedure getting done then being told after the fact that it was $105 over my copay. My insurance almost always covers things (regardless of my deductible) but she just took my card and charged even as I said I don't have that extra money. I was expecting to pay my copay and that was it. She said 'well if it's yours then you'll get the money back'. Beyond not helpful. If I had known they would charge me $105 extra I would have said no. I've never once had a visit at a Dr where a procedure was performed without consent to the cost. Like I said Dr. And Nurse are great just make sure you get prices ahead of time because otherwise it will be a surprise. Dr. Mullans issue may be her staff, and office policies of charging for lateness or absence, even with a good excuse. You cannot cancel and you will be sent to collections. I have excellent credit, and they referred me to collections for a cancellation, appalling practice in healthcare. Go to a derm associated with a hospital system and avoid the drama in this office, you will be treated poorly and experience a shakedown. Dr. Elizabeth Mullins is everything you want in a doctor. She is professional, provides excellent care and has the most positive attitude. She and her associate, Yvette, are a delight, which is an atypical healthcare experience these days. Dr. Mullins and Yvette go out of their way to make patients feel comfortable and at ease. They exhibit the best bedside manner I have ever encountered, and if my review was based solely upon Dr. Mullins alone, her practice would receive all five stars, and I would still be her patient. Unfortunately, as other reviewers point out, Dr. Mullins's front desk person, Allison, is the polar opposite of the doctor and Yvette. She seems unhappy and acts abrupt and rude. I don't know what happened the past few years but restaurants, dry cleaners, coffee shops, hotels, retail establishments and hospitals are now full of unhappy people who cannot be bothered to return smiles or greet customers with a "good morning" or even say "hello." How hard is that? It's a constant stream of negativity, and I won't reward that behavior. It is unacceptable. So today, I walked out of Dr. Mullins's office prior to my appointment because I refuse to allow toxic behavior to negatively impact my day. Yvette called me shortly afterward and was so sweet as I explained the situation. I told her life is too short to expose yourself to this kind of negativity. We love Dr. Elizabeth! I've been seeing her for various dermatology things for about 20 years. She's removed my weird moles and helped with my eczema. It's extremely uncomfortable issues to deal with and discuss, but she always makes the appointments so friendly. And it's great going to a place where the same extremely friendly staff has been there for so long. Oh and she's generous with the samples. I pay out-of-pocket, so when I have to switch meds, she gives me enough to try out to make sure it's going to be effective before I have to pay to fill a prescription. read more

Awful, awful, awful! Stay away from this place they only care about the money and not the patient. If you have to reschedule (I had the flu) this place will let you then apparently bill you for a "no show," even if you are unaware then send to collections. The collections agency said, " Their client Dr. Mullins wants them to only bill once then put on the customers credit report." Even for a $59 no show when I did call to say I had fever. Allison told me not to come in, so I did not. Never once did i get a phone call or even an email. Miraculously, the collect agency had my email address on file, but i never heard from Dr. Mullins office or the collection agency. I called Allison to discuss this and she was like a robot (apparently this happens a lot) and she did not care that i was in the middle of refinancing my house and this dropped my credit score... I could understand if this was a complete lack of ignoring any notices, but to do this during a pandemic no less, is unprofessional and greedy at best. There are plenty of doctors out there that will care for you as a patient and not dollar signs. Dr Mullans has amazing bedside manners.. meaning she listens, is super sweet and i love her high energy. I see several reviews complaint about front desk, but i actually like her and she has always been nice to me. This office can be busy and for one person, it takes a lot to do it all. If you give her the info she needs, she is nice right back. I have been going to her for a uncommon skin issue, and although we haven't figured it out yet, she isn't giving up. She never answers the phone (even if you've just spoken to her and you know she's there) you have to "leave a message". If you attempt to suggest that she doesn't pick up the phone she lashes out. She is one of the rudest human beings and very unprofessional. She will attempt to lecture you as if you were a 5 year old - really nasty woman! I wanted to give a review solely based on my brief experience with the infamous Allison. I called the office and left a voicemail pertaining to my insurance. She promptly called me back and informed me they in fact do not take my insurance. I see on some reviews she may be upsetting some clients with her frankness. As a former receptionist who dealt with a high volume of guests with appointments and a plethora of other accommodations, as receptionists we try to be as clear and straight to the point as we can. Apparently, calling into the office to speak to Allison back in October 2019, was not good enough to cancel the appointment when I had the flu. Allison told me that morning that they did not want me in the office if I was running fever. I found out today by Chase since we are refinancing our house that just yesterday they sent me to collections for a $59 "no show" charge. I have never been told this was a charge nor did I receive any type of collection notice for this collection agency. Now this dropped my credit score 100 points and can not close on my refinance June 30, as this changes the interest rate and has to go back through underwriting, unless I can get this removed. I had no idea. I would have never let this happen, had I known. Allison was totally NOT empathetic and even said, " I did not receive my birthday card from her own mother either and I do not know what the post office is doing with our mail" Allison also said, "I sent 2 statements to your house, but I can not remove this as you need to pay your bills" Be aware of their practices of handling their billing. Never once asked if I was okay, did my face issue clear up? I went there 2-3 times before and this Dr. was either running really late each time and did not help the issue, as i did eventually go to another doctor that cleared up my cancer issue that she apparently did not see those times. I had such an amazing experience today! It was my first appointment with Dr. Elizabeth Mullins. My primary care doctor had recommended her, but I had no idea what to expect. I needed to have my skin biopsied to check for possible, autoimmune disease. When I entered her office, Allison greeted me by name! I was EXPECTED! The nurse, Yvette, was so kind. From the minute she introduced herself, she was already helping push my wheel chair to escort me into a nearby room. The room was spacious, bright and clean with a nice view. Before my appointment time, Dr. Mullins entered the room, introducing herself as "Elizabeth Mullins." She had a huge smile and immediately came near me to sit down and talk. She kept eye contact the entire time and repeated back the things I shared so I knew she was really listening. I am a patient with a very complicated medical history, but she had reviewed my paperwork and didn't seem a bit intimidated by my rare diseases. The biopsies were very easy. She was extremely gentle and I felt like she had no other patients with the attention I received. Because this visit was my first solo outing in 10 months, she gave me a bag of samples to "celebrate!" Dr. Mullins and Yvette walked me to the front desk and even shared my celebration details with Allison. My visit felt to me like I had spent an hour with close friends. I go to A LOT of doctors and they are never like today's visit. I just left there wanting to tell everyone about my experience! Dr. Mullins even offered to have Yvette push my wheel chair all the way down 2 floors, through their building and to the end of the parking lot where I had parked my car. She even lifted my chair into my trunk. I was so grateful for the help as my first outing was rather exhausting. But, talk about SERVICE! If you need a dermatologist in Houston, Texas, please treat yourself to genuine kindness, home town compassion and a small, personable practice at Uptown Dermatology! Dr. Elizabeth Mullans is hands-down my favorite doctor I've ever seen. Both her and her nurse Yvette are always so friendly and patient. I first visited the office due to some pesky acne issues which she was able to clear up in just a few weeks! I now receive so many compliments on my clear skin. I really appreciate that Dr Mullans does not pressure her patients into any treatments. She really leaves all decisions up to you. It is evident that she really cares about her patients and even squeezed me in when I accidentally showed up a week before my scheduled appointment (oops!). Dr. Mullans and her nurse are absolutely fantastic; however, Allison is wretched. I am new to Houston and was very pleased to find such a fantastic doctor so close to where I live. After my first visit, I made a follow up appointment, which I unfortunately had to cancel and successfully did so. I was unable to reschedule because I started a new job and didn't know when I would be available. Allison took it upon herself to reschedule for me and left me a voicemail. I do not check my voicemail on a regular basis and therefore never received her message (she also left a reminder, but once again, I don't check my voicemail). A month goes by and I receive a letter saying I've been charged a late fee for a no show. Absolutely confused by the situation considering I never made a new appointment, called and Allison said there was nothing she could do for me. I informed her I never made a new appointment, but apparently by her making a new appointment on my behalf and simply leaving a voicemail was sufficient. I repeatedly informed her I never consented; however, according to Allison, "she does this all the time", which I guess means its OK. I have never been treated so rudely at a doctor's office. Dr. Mullens and her staff are wonderful. I didn't have many pimples as a teen, but I had some adult acne that I came and saw Dr. Mullens for. Thankfully, it cleared up as soon as the retin-A she prescribed kicked in. Dr. Mullens gave me options and we experimented with different creams and facewashes for a while until we got the treatment just right. I also have terrible insurance that doesn't pay for prescriptions, so Dr. Mullens and her staff are always providing me with loads of free samples and coupons. I've never had a problem with her receptionist Allison as someone mentioned below. On the contrary she's been great at answering my calls and prompt to return my messages. I went to Uptown Dermatology for the first time today and it was probably the most amazing experience I've ever had at any medical office! I honestly wish I could give them more than five stars. I was able to print and fill out my paperwork before even stepping foot into the office. I was in and out in less than thirty minutes (perfect for a lunch break appointment). Dr. Mullins and her assistant, Yvette were both very personable and sweet. Yvette made the triage portion of my visit very comforting; she made it feel like I was having a casual conversation with one of my friends. They make a fantastic team! I truly appreciate how Dr. Mullins gave me different options to go about treating the problem I came in with. I didn't feel forced to go with the more expensive route and was able to choose a less costly, conservative one instead.
