I have a friend that loves, loves, loves Uptown Cheapskate- so I popped in to see if I could find something fun. I roamed the packed aisles- looked at colors, fabrics, styles, brands, pricing. Gathered a handful of items to go try on and found a super cute plaid skirt to snag. I almost grabbed a pair of blue corduroy pants, but they were a shade snug. Staff is amazing- I was greeted and checked on several times. Store was fairly busy too- always a good sign. read more

Uptown Cheapskate opened one year ago today in my neighborhood. My friend Jose DJ'd the celebration and advertised the event on IG. I arrived a few minutes early the day of the event and was the first to receive a gift bag (first 20 customers) which included a mini bundt cake, a 20% off store coupon and a few other discounts to local businesses. I spent roughly 30 minutes looking at clothes and shoes. Winnie saw me carrying around three pairs of jeans and asked if she could put them in a dressing room for me while I continued shopping. Yes please! I wish all stores offered this type of service;) I tried on many items and decided to buy two pants and three shirts. My bill was roughly $45. Be sure to bring your own shopping bag as do not offer them. And sign up for rewards so you earn credits and an annual birthday coupon. This was my first visit to Uptown Cheapskate. I was very impressed with how friendly & helpful the staff were. I was told it would take about 30m for them to go through the items I wanted to sell. It only took 19m so I was still picking out items to try on. They were doing a fun Easter egg hunt promo & I found one which scored me $5 in store credit and Starburst candy. They bought 2 of the approximately 20 items I brought in, but I expected that as I'm outside of their typical demographic. You can opt for cash or 25% more on your offer if you accept store credit as payment. I also received 10% off my purchase for selling the same day, so I got a great deal on some Levi's shorts when combined with my store credits. read more

How have I been here 3 days in a row already?! Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Sunday I brought one item in to sell that I just happened to have in my car. Uptown gave me a 15 min window and was done in that 15 mins. If they accept your items(s) you'll be offered cash or store credit. The store credit will always be the slightly higher amount. Monday I brought in two bags of things (which is the most you can bring in at one time - 2 bags) I chose to wait and shop in store while the attendant went through my belongings. I found a cool long sleeve sheer shirt to purchase for myself. I was offered either $30 something cash or $42 I think in store credit? Something like that. I chose cash and deducted the $9 shirt from my cash amount. Good exchange for things I could no longer fit in that were just hanging in my closet. I had such good luck I brought in 1 more bag Tuesday. The attendant went through it pretty quickly and offered me $15 cash or $18 in store credit, I chose the cash. I really had good experiences here this past opening week. I would recommend both buying and selling clothes/items here. If selling, it is a wise choice to bring in your bags before their last hour the store is open just to make sure there is enough time to go through your items. The store attendants were extremely nice and helpful each visit, and the store in general was clean and kept very well. The holiday decor was an added bonus. Looking forward to visiting again. A super new addition to the Hodges Pointe shopping area for shoppers. Mens and women's clothing available at bargain prices. The grand opening is on 11/14/24 when customers will be able to make purchases. Until then the store is opened for buying clothes and one can either get paid with cash or get store credit for them. The interior is bright and spacious. Several dressing rooms are available to try on the stylish trends available. Owner and staff are super friendly, knowledgeable and professional. read more

Place was OK. Staff wasn't very friendly. The price point was a little bit high. The inventory was OK.

I took a bunch of clothes there to sell and they looked through two whole piles in less than 30 minutes. They only took 9 item, but were very honest they just couldn't buy some of my higher designer items. I definitely will go back to check their inventory it definitely seemed geared towards more trendy clothes and not so formal. read more

This store is a great concept but they are very inconsistent and it is not run well. I started going here from when they first opened and it was originally a great experience. However, the current team is not all that friendly, the customer service is poor, almost as if you are bothering them. And what they take varies based on who is reviewing the items and it doesn't match to what they advertise on their website. The wait time is also almost double what they tell you. It is a very unwelcoming set up - unless they are just catering to the in and out quick shoppers. The quality and selection has also gone down hill in the short time they have been open. They have items that are in extremely poor condition yet friends and I have taken new items that they turn away. If they want to only cater to pre-teens/tweens vs. 20/30 year olds, or even older, then that is what they should advertise on their website. They have also cut down the amount they pay for the items. The value is not there .The store also needs to have at least a chair or two for older or disabled people who may be with you and are waiting for so long and cannot walk around and shop for a long time. Honestly, this place is absolutely not worth the time or effort. These people need to learn the value of customer service - how to at least say hello and welcome you into the store and figure out how to smile and be kind to customers. Based on the history of the owners who started this franchise, I think they would be quite disappointed in this Jax team. read more
