Stratford is a critical lynchpin for the upcoming Olympics and the station has been upgraded significantly to make it easier for passengers from the DLR, Central, Jubilee and Overground, as well as National Rail and buses. The station is step-free. On the Central line, it is between Mile End and Leyton. It is the terminus for the DLR (the previous stop is Pudding Mill Lane), Jubilee (West Ham) and London Overground (Hackney Wick). Other than the nearby Olympic venues, the new Westfield mall is nearing completion nearby. The station is in Travelcard Zone 3 with many ticket barricades and Oyster readers, as well as staffed and automated ticket booths. Lots of signs make it easy to get from one mode of transport to another, but that doesn't mean that there isn't a whole lot of walking involved.

Don't get it twisted though, only half is built up and shiny - they left the other half in the crapper. Well connected hub here, not many staff around though and the trek from the tube to the DLR is, well, a trek. I purposely stayed away during the Olympics but even now, it still has a sense of chaos about it. Signage is much better and it also feels like they are still needing to 'finish' snag works here. Overall, it's fine.

Changing trains at this station to get to Gatwick Airport was a little confusing. There are multi…read morelevels and the signage wasn't clear (to me anyway) I found a man with an employee uniform who was able to direct me and give me information about the ticket. He was very nice and helpful. My anxiety was eased! The station is large and bustling I didn't see a lot of seating. It was clean. The Main Street outside the station had lots of shops.

I'll say that this is a pretty good underground station, but it also seems to connect with the…read moremainlines as well, though I'm not all that sure whether I could consider Thameslink to be mainline. Well, it is run by a private company, but its lines are included on the map, and you can use the oyster card on its metropolitan routes, but as it turns out, you can pretty much do that with all of the trains so I guess that doesn't really count. Yeah, I didn't mind this station, but them like with most of them I'm only passing through many of them, and I suspect that if I actually lived in London I'd have a somewhat different perspective.

More importantly, the Elizabeth Line gets you easily to/from Heathrow. It's quite busy, so people like myself can easily feel lost getting off the tube, much less coming off an overnight flight. Once you orient yourself a bit, you'll realize where you need to enter/exit to get around town. The Tube is pretty easy in that regards, especially since Apple Pay can easily be used for travellers like myself. The Elizabeth line goes deep underground, so be prepared to walk a bit and take very high escalators to get up/down. However, the line was built to be pretty safe, clean, and airy. The main waiting area is where you can catch National Rail and the shops, of which there are plenty. I was pleasantly surprised seeing people grab so many grab-and-go options from M&S, for example. But options are plenty. It's also quite airy due to the ceilings and open air concept. Fortunately, I was staying at the Andaz, so this was super convenient. Also, I believe this place connects to the neighboring McDonalds, so you'll see people get their fast food kick too!

The washrooms are convenient and finding the platforms is reasonably easy. It's a relatively navigable station with numerous connections to local destinations and beyond. Use of this station is more likely to facilitate your journey than detract from it.

Wembley Park is the main Underground station serving Wembley Stadium, as you'd expect it can get…read moreVERY busy on an event-day at Wembley with long queues to get inside the station, that seems to stretch down Olympic Way, as you'd expect with the stadium holding 90,000 people. It is in Fare Zone 4 on both the Jubilee and Metropolitan Lines. The station is fairly clean and modern, there are a set of steps to get up the station, however, there is a lift in the far left corner if you require. Plenty of ticket machines and ticket gates, you can also cut through the station from Olympic Way to get to the main road, where there are bus services. The station is fairly clean/modern, obviously, on a match-day, it still feels too hectic and busy, even with crowd control and it can be difficult to board service, the staff seem to be doing the best they can to deal with the crowds, perhaps adding more services from other nearby public transport stations and promoting these stations instead, such as Wembley Stadium Station and Wembley Central would be an idea. Signage on the platforms could be slightly better, basic facilities inside the station compared to any other tube station but it is a useful station in a good location for Wembley Stadium. 4*

Yeah, this station is really designed to funnel people from the train to Wembly stadium, so in that way yeah it's cool.

Large train station with over 20 tracks. I had to connect to local WiFi to buy tickets. Otherwise use machines in the terminal. Beware that the +20 tracks are CNN located on the far side. You must have a ticket to enter any of tracks.

Well, it turned out that I was completely wrong - this station is absolutely massive, much, much bigger than I have every experienced (in fact it is the biggest station in England). Yeah, so it turned out that I had absolutely no idea where to meet him (though we ended up meeting up anyway). Yeah, this station is nothing short of massive, and it simply took me ages just to locate the tube station so I could get back to my hotel. To a guy from Australia the size of this station is mindboggling.

Tottenham Court Road Tube Station is by far the most posh of the Tube stations that we travelled…read morethrough. The Station is busy with local people traveling to work and tourists coming to shop in the area. The pace is fast with north/south and east/west trains that travel to Heathrow. The walls are freshly covered in white tiles. The station is clean with a very long escalator up and down to the tubes. Escalators are available if you have a stroller or are carrying luggage. The walls are covered with show advertisements. Using credit card to tap on and off is easy. Monitors tell passengers the exact moment a train will arrive. We travelled through the station several times.

We took the Elizabeth Line to avoid making too many transfers even though there were other train stations nearby. We wanted to keep our trip simple and stress free. If you're are travelling here and taking the Elizabeth Line from the airport to the Strand area.... I recommend using a wheeled rolling suitcase. This is what we used and we packed light too so it was easy for us to roll our luggage along the many cobblestone sidewalks. Navigating Tottenham Court Road Station is easy. There are maps located throughout the station so you know where you are and where you're going and which stops to get off and on at. Make sure to have your credit/debit card on hand to swipe through and make the swipe your card again once you get off the train so you don't keep getting charged after you've completed your trip. Staff here are super helpful id you need assistance

I agree with the duck that City Thameslink is an odd station: it was built to replace the adjacent…read moreterminus of Holborn Viaduct for Thameslink services when the line from Blackfriars to Farringdon was reopened. The line's history is horribly complex, but essentially it was built by the London, Chatham and Dover Railway to cross the Thames and to link up with the Metropolitan Railway at Farringdon, via the 'Snow Hill Tunnel'. The line was built northwards in stages, opening to a temporary terminus at Ludgate Hill in December 1864, and to Farringdon in 1866. In 1874 a short spur was built from Ludgate Hill to a terminus on the then new thoroughfare of Holborn Viaduct. Platforms were also built in the adjacent section of track at the entrance to the Snow Hill Tunnel in 1874 - first called 'Snow Hill' station, then (from 1912) 'Holborn Viaduct Low Level'. Trains went both to Farringdon and beyond via King's Cross, and from 1871 towards Moorgate. The lines were incredibly busy at first, forming an essential north-south link, but patronage declined with the advent of the Underground and tram networks and the through line via the Snow Hill Tunnel was closed to passengers as early as 1916. Ludgate Hill station closed in 1929. Freight continued until 1969 but the line through the tunnel was then closed in 1971. Holborn Viaduct soldiered on as a terminus on the line from Blackfriars until 1990, by which time it was only in use at peak hours and was in a very sorry state. In the meantime, the Snow Hill tunnel had reopened as part of the Thameslink project. For this, a new line was built diving beneath Ludgate Hill (the old line crossed it on a bridge), and a new station built next to Holborn Viaduct station and named St Paul's Thameslink. Holborn Viaduct terminus then closed. In 1991 St Paul's Thameslink was renamed City Thameslink - bringing us right up to date! The original route of the line has now been buried under office developments. The station has no visible external architecture to speak of - it's just a series of entrances under various office buildings. The platforms are spacious and brightly lit, but otherwise utilitarian. There are toilets and a ticket office with limited opening hours (although the station is always staffed). City Thameslink has no direct link with the Underground, although the Ludgate Hill entrance is very handy for classic views of St Paul's Cathedral. The service is frequent on weekdays but rather sparser on Saturdays, and the station is not open on Sundays, when the line is prone to close for engineering works. Despite this, it is still used by over 5 million passengers a year. The station has step-free access, but the lifts are currently out of action for refurbishment until mid October (2008).

Staff are not very friendly either. When trains go wrong information is not always circulated very well or wrong. Only good thing about the station is that there is a ATM onsite, WH Smith, shoe repairers and a coffee shop.

Due to a lift issue at Harrow and Wealdstone Station, I had to take a half an hour detour out of my…read morejourney to continue on my Southern Railway train to Harrow Station, only to end up waiting for another train to take me back to Wembley Central, which goes on the opposite platform with a working lift, this trip to the station because of this was an unwanted one. Harrow and Wealdstone Station is a train station in the Harrow area of London, and for ticketing it is classed as region 5. This is quite an old station, to the point where it was made a Grade II Listed building in 1990. The worst ever British railway crash in 1952, which killed 112 people also sadly occurred here at this station. The station is managed by London Underground but has both Underground and Overground trains. As mentioned this station is pretty old, and it has nothing too special about it, it doesn't have a lot of shops or coffee-shops in the station. Services from here go into the likes of Milton Keynes, Wembley Central and London Euston, with the London Euston being an Overground or London Midland service, as I recall this calls at Wembley Central, so if you're going to watch a football match at Wembley this station isn't too far away for you in terms of getting a train into Wembley. As mentioned, a decent yet not fantastic overall level of more local train connections run from here to the likes of Watford, Milton Keynes, Wembley and London, and this station isn't terrible but overall as it lacks any special feature, other than being a Grade II listed building, I sadly feel Harrow and Wealdstone Station deserves a two-star rating, which even then is a little generous.

Very nice tube station to travel into London to avoid the crazy traffic if you are renting a car…read moreand need to go into central London. They have 2 car parks operated by machine. Very quick to get in / out of the station - just mind where you entered and where you exit. Used the Oyster card and found it very easy to tap in / out. The staff working there are very friendly and will help you out if get confused. Just remember they have 4 platforms and the above ground trains help you see that. Found their bathroom & snack shop very useful for the 35 minute trip into London!
