Honestly just a mid experience, they charge for tickets but still have a 2 item per person minimum.. the drinks were literally half the size of a normal cup and the "chicken bites" were 4 chicken bits the size of quarters for $12 yikes. The worst part was that about $15 of our tab was just service fees, building maintenance fees, alcohol fee.. etc. ridiculous honestly. Also the headliners jokes revolved around calling women c**ts, whores and ran through?? Honestly just not funny. They did have great service and some comedians were pretty funny other than that i honestly won't be returning. read more

We attend a local comedy show here for the 1st time. I was not sure of what to expect but the club was spacious and decorated very well. Once the club opened we were seated right away. Our waitress explain ed how the drink minimum worked and all of our options. The comedy show was very enjoyable and I enjoyed all of the local comedian. Was an unexpected surprise laughs for days hope to enjoy more other events and guests

This place is alright. Definitely needs some minor renovation because it feels a little outdated. I've gone here a few times and it's a pretty decent spot to get some drinks and some laughs. Service is pretty mediocre on open mic nights because they only have one person working, but she does a pretty good job all things considered. One weird thing about this place was that they said about 8 different times that it was an "open bar" during one of the open mic nights... but it wasn't. We didn't get a special or anything fancy. When we went up to see if we needed to pay they said yes, and that because we got an alcoholic beverage we didn't need to pay for the waters or sodas... that's not what an open bar is. read more

We went on valentine's day. The show itself was great, however I would not recommend this place and will not be back. Halfway through the show our waitress tells us that there is a two drink minimum for each table. If we don't order two drinks we will be charged $12.00. No where before hand were we told this. What a crappy way for an establishment to say thank you for visiting them. Then there is a sign that says all ladies receive a free gift bag and when we go to grab our gift bag, the guy asked where we got our tickets from. I told him my buddy got them through the military. He said sorry, that doesn't qualify. So you don't value your military community, regardless of where they purchased their tickets?! He did end up giving the gifts to us but to me these are very clear signs that this place is a joke! read more

I only know about this place because of Do More San Antonio and their service that offers you free tickets to things in San Antonio. I finally decided to check out the Upstage Comedy Lounge when I was treating my sister for her birthday. The comedy is hit or miss in my opinion. The first comedian was okay,but the second comedian was funny. The food selection is small and mediocre at best. The drinks are $7.99 each,but the cups are small. The service can better as well. We had to wait a bit for our drink order to be taken. I would say to give them a shot and see if the place is for you. read more

Bobby and Kalvin are AMAZING! Every time I come here it is ALWAYS a great time! Yesterday did a Karaoke Brunch and we had a blast! Food was provided by a caterer and was yummy! Hosts and employees were nice, professional, and accommodating. The place was nice but did look a little dated, not bad, though, and yes, it was clean. Prices for food and drinks were a bit high, so I definitely do not recommend ordering. A few of the comedians were not to my taste in humor but all in all it was a positive experience. Upstage Comedy Lounge is a grown folks night spot in North East San Antonio. It's where you can sit down at a comfortable table, enjoy an adult beverage (or not) and plenty of laughs. Most of the comedians are African-American which is kind of an anomaly in San Antonio; however, I was pleasantly surprised at the extremely high caliber of talent at the venue. Both the opening act and the headliner were funny. I laughed so hard that my belly and my jaw hurt. Please support a locally owned business and check out this comedy club. It is located off the beaten path at the intersection of Walzem road and Austin highway. If you are a local, come swing by. If you are a tourist, come escape the Riverwalk and downtown area and Seaworld and come check them out. It's an affordable and fun night out!!! There's a 2 item minimum which could include a drink plus an appetizer. We sampled plenty of items, but my favorite were the lemon garlic chicken wings. The wings were delicious. Kudos to the owners who bravely opened an African-American oriented comedy club, in San Antonio in the middle of the pandemic. There's no other venue close to this in town. Upstage Comedy Lounge opened in 2021. The place is truly a labor of love for the owners ( one of which is a professional comedian) whose family built the stage and the bar by hand. Price wise, you can anticipate spending about $30 to $40 per person . Come on out and get some laughs at Upstage Comedy Lounge. Ya'll better come!!! read more

We came to see Eric Eaton comedy magic this past Friday and we were honestly surprised when we pulled up to the club. To be honest the place looks kind of sketchy from the outside because of the neighborhood, and I was wondering if I'd made the wrong decision by coming here. But once we got inside, all those feelings disappeared quite quickly. The inside was clean and comfortable. We were seated promptly and politely at our table and given a quick rundown of the restroom situation etc. Our server, Mercedes, did an excellent job taking care of us the whole night. She was prompt, courteous, and friendly. We were very pleased. The restrooms were also very clean and looked like they'd been remodeled recently. We ordered the brisket nachos and it was plainly obvious that the brisket was home-smoked that day and had such an excellent flavor. They didn't skimp on the meat or the cheese either like everywhere else. We were also very pleased to hear that the place is veteran owned. The comedy was fantastic, from the host, to the opening act, to the headliner. Such a good experience. We'll most likely be back very soon. read more
