My most recent trip was a completely different story, unfortunately. I'd inquired ahead of time about the price of a bed I wanted to purchase, quoting the exact style and size I wanted. When I arrived in store, they did not honor the price given me just a few days earlier, telling me the same bed was $80 more expensive, and they were only willing to take $30 off. I also had a $25 gift card I had won in a weekly contest through their company, but when I told them they treated me very skeptically, acted like they didn't know what I was talking about, and didn't even try looking me up in their system. I ended up having to show them a picture on my phone proving that I'd won, before they grudgingly wrote out a certificate for me to use. Staff was unfriendly overall and seemed more interested in chatting with one another than in assisting me. Probably would have purchased more items in store, but their attitude left me wanting to leave as soon as possible.

My experience with Sylvan Furniture was less than ideal. I went into their store in mid-August to…read morelook at a living room set. I found a Lazboy set I really liked. For the next few days I pondered making the purchase and decided to do it. I decided I'd put the balance on a new credit card with an introductory 0% APR. I'd have to wait for the credit card to arrive before I could make payment. This is a timeline of what occurred: *8/20/2024 @ 1:09pm - I called Sylvan Furniture and spoke with Ed. I told him that I was interested in moving forward with the Lazboy set I looked at the previous week. I indicated I'd be making the purchase within the next week or so, but I was waiting for a new credit card in the mail. Ed told me that they charge a 3% fee on credit card purchases. He said he'd run numbers to see what deal he could get me. *8/20/2024 @ 3:41pm - Spoke with Ed again and he indicated it would be about $7,500 for the set. I asked if there were other colors available and he indicated yes. I also asked if there was plenty in stock so I wouldn't have to wait excessively long. He assured me that they have plenty. *8/27/2024 @ 1:25pm - Received a call from Ed indicating that the sale would end on 8/30 and I needed to purchase soon as the next sale wasn't as good. I asked him if there was any chance I could come down to the warehouse to see some of the other colors. At that time, he indicated that there was only the brown. This was red flag number one, as he indicated previously they had other colors available. *8/27/2024 @ 1:48pm - Ed texted me a copy of the quote. *8/30/2024 @ 12:45pm - I called to make sure I wasn't going to lose my sale price if I had to make the purchase on Saturday, 9/1/2024, because I still hadn't received the credit card in the mail. The female I spoke with (don't remember the name) indicated the sale prices were through Tues 9/3/2024. This was red flag number two. Why was I given a different sale end date by Ed? Was Ed's call on the 8/27/2024 @ 1:48pm some shady high pressure tactic to get me to purchase it that day by drumming up a sense of urgency? *8/30/2024 @ 5:20pm - Called to make the purchase because I got the credit card in the mail. Ed indicated that they may only have what's on the floor, if that. He said he needed to call the warehouse and would call me back in a "couple of minutes". This was red flag number three, as I had specifically asked if there was plenty in stock on the 20th. Why was there suddenly no inventory? *8/30/2024 @ 5:51pm - Called back because I hadn't heard anything and they were closing in ~9 minutes. Was told Ed was with a customer and they'd leave a message for him to call me. *8/30/2024 @ 5:55pm - Received a callback from a woman (don't remember the name) who indicated there was nothing in stock and it would be up to 8 weeks for it to arrive. She was rather unapologetic but was full of excuses. None of which made sense. I had called on the 20th to confirm they had plenty of inventory, which they said they did. Ed had called me on the 27th about needing to make the purchase soon, but at no time did he indicate that they were suddenly low on inventory. At this point in the conversation, I told the woman that I wouldn't be moving forward with them due to all of this. In the end, it all worked out okay because I found the exact same set on Wayfair for the same prices (give or take $100). Best parts are, no delivery fee (and it's "white glove"), no credit card fee and they gave me 10% off the entire order for being a new customer. Oh, and it'll be here in 3-4 weeks. Wayfair knows customer service apparently. Sylvan Furniture had wanted to charge me a 3% credit card fee, a $120 delivery fee and make me wait up to 8 weeks. If it were me, I'd stay away from Sylvan Furniture. I won't be going to them in the future for sure.

From start to finish, their professionalism and attention to detail were unmatched. They started by coming out to do a personalized estimate, which made us feel confident and prepared for moving day. On the day of the move, the team disassembled, moved, and reassembled all of our furniture with incredible care. They meticulously wrapped and padded every delicate item, including our TVs, decor, and large furniture pieces. We even had an entire home gym, which they efficiently packed, transported, and reassembled without a single issue. Every mover was respectful, courteous, and hardworking, and when the day ran long, the owners themselves came out to lend a hand.. a true sign of strong leadership and commitment to their customers. It's rare to see that kind of dedication anymore, and it really stood out to us. Their pricing was extremely fair, and for the quality and thoroughness of their work, it was worth every penny. They even offered a veteran discount, which was such a thoughtful gesture and greatly appreciated. I would recommend Blue Mountain Movers to anyone looking for a reliable, honest, and detail-oriented moving company. They made what could have been a stressful day completely seamless. If I could give more than five stars, I absolutely would!

Blue Mountain gave me a quote and when I paid the amount plus CC fees, I authorized an amount to…read morecome out of my account. They increased that amount after the fact and without my consent and then changed the quote to match. They would not admit their mistake and said it was the original quote all along. I'm SO glad I had screen prints and had performed the math myself for the fees, or they would have continued to try and 'convince' me I just didn't understand. I hope this is just a cover for their mistake and not a more nefarious reason for the change of amounts and upping the quote to match. Not ethical and would recommend you double check all quotes and get comparisons. Really put me in a bind since we had to cancel at the last moment. We all make mistakes. The ethics is admitting those mistakes and not pretending they didn't happen or that someone is just 'confused'. I would recommend getting simple quotes instead and dealing with business teams that put ethics over profit. We agreed to cancel and they did refund my fees in the end.
