Came here today for a change of scenery and a quiet environment to work on final exams. This place is nice, but I don't know what the architects were thinking when they decided on high ceilings. This place is a giant echo chamber. There is so much noise here. Even the receptionist at the information desk was loud when she was talking to a resident. She didn't even try to speak quietly. People can be heard laughing and carrying on, the sound of phones ringing and beeping from scanning books can be heard from the other side of the building. Not an ideal place to come if you are looking for silence. I am astounded by how many people come into a library and do not bother to turn their cell phones on silent. Every few minutes I was hearing someone's phone ring. As I sat in the computer area, almost every person who sat around me had their cell phone on.
They do have a really nice children's section, but it would help if they closed the doors so you can't hear the children carrying on from the other side of the library. read more
