Well...I do not frequent libraries but this one is very spacious and had everything I was looking for. I am mainly into older philosophy books lately and plan on coming back here to advance my knowledge from all the scholars from yester years. They always have books for sale when you come in on your right and once every few months have their larger book fair. In addition to books and over five thousand DVD's in stock they have partition work offices you can work in. I want to say approximately five with a sliding door to make it a little more private as well. I have been to the Horsham Library and the Abington Library in the past month and my preference at this time I would have to say is the Horsham Library. As always people SYOY!!! read more

10+ years later and it's gotten much worse. For some reason they've weeded out half the collection and now literally every shelf in the place is half empty. They're not replacing them with new books. They are apparently using the space to "feature" a book by standing it up face-out. Is this a store or a library? The science fiction/fantasy and mystery sections have been cut down by at least half (not even taking into account the fact of the remaining shelves being half empty.) It's so sad. Went there specifically for a particular book because it was listed as available at this library, but couldn't find it. I finally had to ask the librarian who told me it was in the section I had just come from. I explained that that was a different book by the author. She looked and couldn't find it either. I told her I made the trip because the website listed it as there and available. I told her I was extremely upset and got absolutely no apology. All she said was "Do you want to put it on hold?" I used to love this library but won't be returning. It's a shame it's not run like a business, then the inefficiency and rude behavior would never be tolerated read more

Very big and open space. Tons of titles and helpful staff. Plenty of community events for everyone to enjoy. I've used the conference rooms for projects and they're very helpful. Great hangout spot. read more

This is one of the nicest libraries in Montgomery County that I've been to! The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The library itself is modern, clean, and spacious. But there are a few things that are holding me back from giving it 5 stars. I have come here a few times to study, and I have left a bit frustrated every time. it is next to impossible to find any outlets near the study areas so I usually end up leaving after my laptop dies. The wifi is extremely slow so don't expect to do anything more than checking your emails. And it can get a little noisy in the evenings (even in the conference rooms) when most of the kids are there. More outlets, faster wifi, and a designated quiet area would give this library a 5! read more

As far as area libraries go, this is among the best if not the very top of the group. When I went there I had spent about a week trying to go to local libraries to check out some books on CD for my commute and ran into a string of closed libraries with ridiculously inconvenient hours and others that had insane membership fees. Horsham's library was a rose among thorns. The building itself is modern and they have plenty of parking. Once you're inside you'll find that the library is very active, airy, and bright (not always the most quiet of libraries with all of the little kids running around for different programs, but that's okay -- it's a lively place). They have a ton of windows, so you don't feel like you're in a cave as you might in some libraries. They have a fairly large selection of movies (a lot of documentaries) and while not the biggest audio book collection I've ever seen, it was sufficient. They also have a great book selection and, of course, can have books brought in from other Montgomery County libraries if they don't have what you're looking for. Finally, you'll find that they have a lot of empty shelves. I think this is definitely a plus because it shows that they're always getting new materials in -- they planned this well and will be able to stay current on new literature and other media for years to come because they have the space to accommodate. One warning: they don't open until noon on Mondays -- I got there around 10, which is when they open on most other days and was a little bummed to find I couldn't go in. read more

So the library is probably the nicest in the area, but you'll probably find more peace and quiet at a Starbucks. You have noisy kids, their yappy suburban moms and the staff who are just as loud. Whatever happened to the "SHHHHH!" policy at libraries? Also adopt an internet infrastructure and policy that is as modern as your building. read more

This is a very nice liabary with tons of books and helpful resources. The downfall is the time that it closes. The people are nice to most guests but will get a little mad a kids like me going their just for help and they will get mad if you make noise. The vending machines are pretty amazing! read more

The Horsham Library is a beautiful, state of the art, under-appreciated gem. In this age of technologies, libraries are often forgotten and this is one that definitely should not be. The staff is friendly and helpful, the computers are fast, and the book selection is on point. If they dont have a book you want, they will quickly borrow it from a different library for you. Not only is this place a great library, but the campus and building are beautiful. Very relaxing with many nooks to sit and read books or meditate while overlooking the grounds. The staff is always helpful and pleasant to deal with. Various events are held throughout the year for both adults and children. CON: Can get a bit loud at times. read more

When did libraries become daycares? Lazy parents bring their kids and let them run around and scream. The librarians have no control of the place as high schoolers come here to just hang out and scream as well. I've seen old men looking at porn here too. Do your job please instead of just talking with each other behind the counters. read more

I have been a member of the Horsham Library for years and have to say that most of the people who work there are nice and very helpful with the exception of the head librarian Erin, who I feel is one of the rudest, nastiest people I have ever had the displeasure of encountering. I just spoke with her 10 minutes ago about a .25 cent hold charge on my account for a book that I never reserved. I reserve at least 20 books a week there and have never even read this particular author. When I tried to state that she went immediately on the defensive, talked over me and basically told me to be quiet. Every time there is an error made ( which is rare ) and I call, I seem to get her and get the same unprofessional treatment. Does anyone know who controls the library and who I can go to to register a complaint against this woman? I am a Montgomery County taxpayer and am pretty sure that my taxes help to pay her salary. I feel it may be time for her to move on. read more
