Come from NYC's public libraries, which are dark and very minimalist, I was happily surprised to see this library buzzing with lots of staff (about 5 out on the floor) and patrons. Something that sets this library apart form others is the display of tons of pottery, paintings, drawings, and all forms of art from the local Souderton public schools. I absolutely loved looking at the art with my grandma. There's a Keurig here, as well as vending machines, if you'd like to purchase some tea/coffee/snacks. Free wifi throughout and computers are available for public use as well. DVD's rent for a week at at time, at $2 per rental. Vast supply of books, well organized. Lovely place to visit!

This library has moved back into it's permanent digs at 233 S Swartley St. The Summit St address…read morewas a temporary location. I hope this review will prevent you from wandering into the elementary school at the old address, like I did. For parking, there are two handicapped spots and 6 regular spots in the front. Sort of hidden in the back of the building there are 11 more spots. If those are taken, you're left to fend for street parking on narrow streets in the vicinity. If you want to come here to get work done on your laptop, seating with nearby outlets is limited, and there are no quiet spots in here, so you'll need high tolerance from library banter coming from the kid area, front desk, and the section where they are playing mahjong and other such games. There's a chess board, unfinished jigsaw puzzles, and comfy old style furniture around. Basically, this place is more geared towards a community center type of place for socializing rather than a "heads-down", getting work done type of place.

Ive come here a few times to check out some kids books and always enjoy the kids library which is kid friendly. My daughter really likes this library and has the chance to play on computers and pick out all types of books to read. The librarians are helpful when you are looking for a particular book and would look up in their system to see if the book is available in other libraries close by if you really need the book. Its not the biggest library in Philly, but it still has a nice amount of reading materials, CDs, and movies to choose from to take home.

The library itself is rather small with a limited selection of books, however it is the closest location to my home so it is usually my go to. Staff is friendly and helpful should you need assistance. I try to go later in the evening to avoid the flow of traffic (cars and people) when school is in session. It's not the best library in the city but it's there and it's free. I you need a larger selection of books I would recommend visiting the Cottman Ave. location. If you aren't too picky, don't require a huge selection/variety of books and are looking to get in and out quickly this location will work for you.

The Jenkintown Library is a beautiful historic building located at 460 York Road in Jenkintown PA…read more They have plenty of free parking behind the building, off York Road. Even though I was impressed with how beautiful the old building was and how well stocked the shelves were with books, that was not why I was there. Me and my husband had made an appointment to get our passports processed. I made a appointment a few weeks ago (online) for 5pm. We were there a few minutes early, so the young lady at the desk told us to have a seat. Sure enough at 5pm exactly another young lady comes out (forgot to get her name) and goes over all our paperwork. She was very precise, making sure every line was filled out correctly. I didn't need my birth certificate, because I had a old passport (that had expired), but my husband needed his, since it was his first time getting one. The cost is $130 per person for the passport. An additional $35 per person to the Jenkintown Library for their processing fee. They only take personal checks or money orders. That's right!, no cash or credit cards. You also need to have your picture taken (before you get there) at a place that takes passport photos. I had mine taken at Staples for $14.99. All in all the appointment went pretty smooth after filling out the paperwork. They made us feel welcome and I would highly recommend the Jenkintown Library for your passport needs.
