Just a library. The staff doesn't seem friendly at all. So I was in and out. You might have a different experience. Good luck

I found them both available at the Lane Rd branch. Cool. I arranged my errands so that I could pick up the books right after it opened. Unfortunately, I didn't find them on the shelves, but a wonderful librarian located one for me, and called the Miller Park branch to put a hold on the other. I went right over to pick it up. The librarians at both branches were very nice and helpful, and I'm glad I got to visit two locations that were new-to-me. Both small with exemplary service.

The kid section is located in the basement, which gives it a nice cozy feeling, with plenty of toys to play with, books, dvds, and music, and several computers available. I loved that they had a picture book binder divided by subject to help you easily locate books that were on topics that were of interest to your children. There are restrooms and a nice meeting room on this level, as well. The upstairs contains adult and young adult options, plus more computers, comfy chairs, and restrooms. As far as size goes, this isn't huge, so if it's vital that you get a certain book, it may be wise to check and see if you need to order it in. This location is larger than Miller Park branch, but smaller than Tremont's. There is a nice sized parking lot and the librarians were very friendly.

In the meantime they are currently open via a walk-up window. If you head up to the front of the building, the window to the right of the main doors is where you can go to pick up materials. They've done a nice job of using the glass windows of the entrance to the left of this window to display some of their offerings, including DVDs and grab and go book bundles, like you would usually see on display inside, including seasonally themed items and new items. Staff is friendly and helpful. The area is very walkable or you can use the small parking lot behind the building or the absolutely adorable READ bike rack back there! It's also located adjacent to Miller Park, which is newly renovated, so it makes a great double visit to play and pick up/drop off library materials.

This is not at all surprising, since some version of this library originally opened in 1924. As such, the facilities are a bit outdated. They have plenty of tables and chairs spread throughout, with one large room designed the 'quiet area', however it remains open to the rest of the library so the noise level is just dependent on what's going on that day. The wooden chairs also become quite uncomfortable after about 30 minutes. They don't have any private work rooms to reserve, but they do have some first come, first serve, semi-private tables sectioned off by plastic dividers. On the ground level, there are two meeting rooms for larger groups, but I'm not sure if these can be reserved on the website versus in person. They also have two vending machines on the ground level. Although the facilities could use an upgrade, the staff is very friendly and parking is rather easy via a designated lot, or surrounding street parking in the neighborhoods nearby. This is the place I find myself visiting due to location since I live nearby, rather than for its amenities.
