This review has been stewing in my brain for a long time. I wanted to acknowledge this place for amazing customer service and a very high quality product. The leather in my car on my center console lid had been cracking for quite some time and I was stressed about it. My husband located this business and sent me here to get it fixed. I had my daughter with me who I believe was about 1.5 years old at the time, so she was obsessed with walking around and getting in to things. This made it a little challenging for me to discuss everything i needed, but everyone who helped me was super patient with me and very sweet to my daughter as well. I was worried I would have to leave my car here which is my main mom mobile, but they were able to send someone out to pop off the lid safely without damaging anything and keep that to reupholster rather than needing my car for an extended period. It took about a week total. When I went back out, I was so impressed with the quality of work and it looked even better than the original leather did! Wow what an artist with excellent skills. Melissa, the owner really has that creative designer brain---we brought in 4 bar chairs (the seat cushions were worn out). We had saved 15-20 African hides from hunts 20+ years ago hoping there was some way she could use them to reupholster the chairs. Once she started unrolling hides, her eyes lit up and it was like a kid in a candy store as she started mixing/matching/measuring/planning. My wife and I do not have that kind of "brain for designing" so we were grateful Melissa was enthusiastic to take on the challenge. We gave her complete designer control and she did an amazing job. The finished product was beyond our expectations--utilizing 5 different animal hides in a very creative and tasteful combination. We were so happy with the work and interactions with Melissa that next we brought in a leather couch that needed the cushions repaired. Unable to find an acceptable leather match, and since the back of the couch is against a wall, Melissa took leather from the back of the couch, replaced the tops of the cushions and then replaced the back of the couch with an economical (and nearly matching) substitute for the original thick irreplaceable leather. Great idea and the couch looks great. Melissa is one of the friendliest, most artistic and talented people I have had the pleasure to meet. Hopefully we will find some more projects for her (we still have lots of hides!). read more

I recently bought a used motorcycle that came with a custom made comfort seat. I didn't care for the color and it really wasn't that comfortable. i've had several seats done by the big names in the motorcycle world of upholstery but I wanted to find someone local so I wouldn't have to ship it. I found Bakersfield upholstery and took them my seat. After talking to the owner, she Said I know exactly what you need. Let me just fix it and I said do it. Well, I tested it today for a couple hundred miles and have to say that it is as good as any seat I've ever owned. They recontoured the foam and made a new cover in solid black. I loved it as soon as I saw it and I am really impressed with the great job they did. No more shipping seats. I'm glad I found them. They were very friendly and very easy to deal with. read more

They worked on on Truck and I understand having to leave the doors open to do the upholstery work but I got a call the day after they started the work and was told they couldn't open my truck I called Triple A and they had to break in my truck because the technician said my battery was dead. When he opened it he showed me my blinker light was on and the owner also told me they didn't start it up before they closed ( she told me they normally do at the end of the day) the technician charged me $125 for the service and when I told the owner it was because they hadn't started my truck up I told them since it was their mistake maybe they should pay at least half, they got agree and said they had already given me a military discount, she told me in the beginning the cost would be little over $2,400 but I was charged 2,778 I was told this when I called to make what I thought was the final payment I paid $1375 upfront thinking the final payment was 1.100 I was then told the last payment was $1404. I didn't remember the passenger seat having a gap between the the seat part and the upright back she told me that the seats were different and that is the way it is and she complained about me asking to pay for at least half of the AAA bill it was their fault the battery was dead she kept saying she gave me a military discount she quoted me wrong and said I didn't need a battery she even told me the day of the battery situation they had forgot to start my truck. I told her she miss heard but she didn't really want to hear me so I asked for my keys 4 times before she would give them to me. I'll never recommend this company ever she was the second person I talked to and I didn't give them attitude I just said I don't want to hear it just give me my keys back. read more

Bakersfield Upholstery reupholstered our 2006 Calabria Wakeboard boat about 7 or 8 years ago. it looked great at the time and even now, the upholstery itself looks like the day we picked it up, somethings that we not happy about are showing up. The substrate for the original panels for the engine cover and the two storage compartment covers on either side of the engine cover were marine grade King Star Board as are all of the other substrate panels for the upholstery. However, we just learned the hard way that Melissa chose to not use the same substrate, but used plywood instead, and I assume, threw the star board panels away. if there was something wrong with the star board she should have called us and given is the choice of plywood or replacing the star boar, but no. Essentially, she stole our panels. Sad to say, the plywood is rotting. I had to pay Galey's Marine Supply $600 to replace the engine cover earlier this year. Now it looks like I'm stuck with paying a reputable shop upwards of $1500 to replace the two storage covers and engine cover with star board substrates. I am so angry I could spit nails. If this is not enough, we gave her the original cover from when we bought the boat new so she could use it as a pattern for a new cover, and male side covers that could zip on and off to protect the sides of the hull from oxidizing. What we received was a complete joke. No side panels, and funky rope draw strings for synching the cover tight that has to be tied with a slip knot to keep it tight. The original covery had ratchet straps sewn in the cover. She chose to keep those as well. She still owes us a Bimini cover which we will never get. She doesn't answer our calls. DO NOT USE THEM! read more

so long story short, I came in looking to see who can repair my jacked up seats from the previous location(I got them done at) and I came across Melissa, she was so sweet so genuine so honest she let me know I could come by and drop my seat off. I told her how I wanted it done. It was a bucket seat and there was so much crap lodged into the seat from the previous guy who touched the seat smh when I tell you she found a can of worms opening this seat up , omg when I came in to see what was done I was in complete shock literally a true definition of a can of worms haha but she got to work & did it just how I like it, well almost I came and picked up the seat and there was side of the seat that i wanted shaved down just tad bit more so I brought it back and she fixed it and left me SATISFIED ! Great Business So Sweet couldn't have found a better place to deal with ! She left the seat feeling OEM ! I literally went home bolted it up & fell asleep in the car that night no kidding Lol so if you're looking for any upholstery work, please come down and see Melissa she'll take real good care of you ! You need any upholstery work done? Absolutely go and see Stephanie at Bakersfield Upholstery! I loved her honesty regarding the work I asked her to estimate on my Chrysler 300. My drivers seat was in very poor condition, and was uncomfortable to sit in. Stephanie said that my material on the seat was still in decent shape, and they could rebuild the seat using the existing cover, and that's exactly what they did! It looks great, and is super comfortable once again. I appreciated the fact that she didn't say I'd need all new material to do the job. While there, they also recovered my console lid, and drivers door armrest. Both look brand new. The cost of the work was very reasonable, and communication was excellent. They had my car ready to go in less than one working day, it just doesn't get any better than this shop people! read more

I requested an estimate for a rocking chair. I went in person to choose the fabric. The pictures that I had weren't clear, so the lady told me to send the images by email. I did and I called twice after that and they have yet to call me back to give me the estimate. Terrible service if you need an estimate for an upholstery. I don't ever usually do yelp reviews but I just had my car detailed and I took it to them to fix my headliner and when I got the car back it was filled with foam which is understandable but what got me upset is that there's dirt all over my back seat and floor. My car is ivory so it's very light so I think it's quite unprofessional and inconsiderate to not put a mat down I paid a lot of money for my car to come back dirtier than I have it to them and I just find it ridiculous that I have to get my car detailed again because they didn't want to put a mat down. read more

After a simple google search, I found Bakersfield Upholstery. Walked in with an OLD seat (2000 Ducati 996)and wanted it re-covered. I was out of there in 5 mins with a quote for $36. Received a call 3 hours later saying it was done! HOLY MOLLY! SUPER QUICK AND PROFESSIONAL! I'm now bringing my Ford F150 in for some seat repairs. AGAIN, very inexpensive and EXCELLENT WORK!!! I'm so happy with our reupholstered chairs! We bought this dining set 10 years ago pre-kids. I loved it, but the fabric was not kid friendly at all. The color is a near perfect match to our walls (and overall house pallet) which was tricky because this color sometimes looks grey, green, or blue depending on the light. My first pick I did in their office just off my own intuition without remembering to bring a sample to match it to which made me a little nervous. I've been working off this pallet for years though and thought it would probably be close enough. Unfortunately, when they went to order it they found out my pick had been discontinued. They knew I had four kids though and we solved it over texts to find something similar. I was also nervous because I had been told previously by two different people with experience in upholstery that the way the upper backs of our chairs were done with glue that it might be impossible to reupholster. I'm so happy that was not the case after all because I really loved these chairs, just not the fabric that stained so easily. The project was done quickly and they were great to work with.
