They were clear that reattaching damaged plastic isn't the same as magically making it new again, but they didn't push me into spending more than I wanted to. They also gave me the usual list of other things my aging Civic could use, but it felt much more like a doctor saying "keep an eye on this" than a mechanic saying "your car will explode by Thursday unless you give me your credit card." That makes me much more likely to actually come back and have those things addressed later. Then I picked up the car and discovered they had CLEANED IT. Not a courtesy wipe-down. My car was gross. They vacuumed it, cleaned the carpets, got grime off the steering wheel, washed the exterior, and somehow made it smell like a vehicle owned by a responsible adult. Bumper looks great, car is cleaner than it has been in a very long time, everyone was friendly, and I left feeling like I got a great deal. Five stars. Would accidentally damage car near them again.

Unfortunately, I had to leave before they could finish my car, which was definitely frustrating. They apologized, asked me to come back the next day, and even took $10 off for the inconvenience. When I returned, they absolutely exceeded my expectations. The inside and outside of my car looked phenomenal--it was clear they had taken the time to do the job right. What impressed me most wasn't that things went perfectly the first day--they didn't. It was how they handled the situation. Instead of rushing through my car just to get me out the door, they chose quality over speed and asked me to come back so they could deliver the level of work they stand behind. I recently took my Tesla Model Y to get an inside and outside cleaning. I'll admit we hadn't cleaned it for a while, have taken the car on road trips including to Los Angeles, Tahoe and Mammoth Lakes. We've taken it in offroad situations too. After they worked, our car is White again. They worked hard at vacuuming and cleaning the inside of the car, including the trunk. Their crew took out and cleaned floor mats and they seemed to wipe down everything as best they could. We also have dogs so there probably was a little bit of dog hair in the back too. The woman who runs the business said they needed to charge extra to shampoo one of the carpets because there was some sort of stain in the back. I thought that was reasonable. Considering that it has been years since we seriously cleaned the car, I think they did a good job and put a lot of attention, I think the price I paid was reasonable.

Most of the jobs were for full PPF + ceramic coating of new vehicles, but they've also performed a couple of non-PPF paint correction, detailing, and ceramic coating work on well-used vehicles not eligible for PPF. In all cases, California Detailing produced fantastic results that made the new cars look better than they were at dealer delivery and the well-used vehicles look as close to new as possible. For vehicles that we've subsequently sold, California Detailing's attentive work helped protect their resale value. Even when we don't have big jobs pending, we drop by their shop a few times a year for installation inspections and touch-ups (no charge during PPF or ceramic coating warranty period). In addition to being skilled professionals, California Detailing also have great customer service that easily makes my family and me feel at home during our visits. What a difference. Before I even booked, David gave me a thorough, honest upfront assessment -- no overpromising, just a clear-eyed look at what was possible and what the process would involve and how much it would genuinely be and what else my car might need. I dropped my car off within a single day, he removed rust, corrected deep scratches across the rear quarter panels, polished and restored the paint, and even cleared up the headlights. The car looks almost brand new. The before and after difference is incredible. The price was insanely fair compared to what dealerships and other shops quoted me. If you're dealing with scratches, scuffs, or paint damage and don't want to get gouged, come here first.
